  1. Then this should be a wake up call to all Conferences, when scheduling your conference tournament, make sure you leave enough yourself an open date for case like what just happen tonight.
  2. As an Alabama fan, that is a question I am asking. And IMO, the GA/Kentucky game SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED tonight. Push the tournament back a day if need be, but that crap was scary, and there is no way Alabama/MSU are going to be focused to finish the game, or GA/Kentucky are going to be confident they can get the game in. So push the tourny back, playing it tonight, doesn't make a lick a sense.
  3. Is this MLB Trade Rumors Report your source? Yes. Simply because I don't trust any word made by a Suntimes columnist. And....I simply refuse to believe Hendry would part with THREE more young pitchers in one trade.
  4. Contrary to Gordon Wittmeyerr, or whatever his name is at the Suntimes, but the Cubs have NOT included Jose Ceda in trade discussion. Maybe this Brian Roberts deal is more annoying then a day time soap.
  5. Agreed. Texas is not in any position to ask for more than said players (Byrd) is worth. IDK if I would trade Murton straight up for Bryd, much less add anything of value to get essentially a 4th OFer.
  6. All I can do after reading that statement is  . Rosenbloom is an idiot.
  7. just do it and get it done....its basically roberts for gallagher from what ive seen and ive seen veal and ceda at least 10 times a piece....both have live arms but cant throw strikes nor do they have any major league pitches besides a fastball....cedeno is nothing more than a reserve....gally could be a 4 or 5 and maybe even a #3 in the future but i would consider that ok with me for an all-star 2B just my .02 I got the feeling that Veal/Ceda is the 2008 versions of Felix Sanchez/Francis Beltran. If that is the case, then move them now before people get wise.
  8. Dang, I was hoping to see the lethal combination of Blanco/Blanco at the bottom of the order.....but oh well, I guess we have to go with that unname Rookie, everybody seems to like.
  9. Yeah, I had heard the Figgins rumor. And maybe it was a fan started rumor, but I also heard of AJ Burnett. MAYBE Joe Nathan (long shot). But those are the only names I heard connected to a possible 2nd Cubs trade.
  10. I don't believe that offer is true, unless the Cubs are getting a 2nd player in return (we've heard Sherrill's name to the Cubs, before). The main reason why I don't buy that rumor is that, I odubt the O's are going to get another deal like that before the season begins. And if the O's plan on trading him at the deadline, no team is going to trade 4 players in the midst of playoff run. At best, the O's would get three players. So I don't buy the Suntimes article.
  11. Not too shabby. I like the first two rounds. The third round I'm okay with. I like the Williams pick, but I am not all that impressed with Caldwell and Woodson later in the draft. Florida WR just scares me. It's not the worst, I've seen, but I am not impressed with that mock draft.
  12. Omigod.........Hall and a 2nd for Brady? I feel Brady is overrated, but even then that is not a good enough package to pry Brady away NE. That Falcon fan needs to stop hanging out druggies, cause he's delusional.
  13. going back because of the completely unnecessary signing of one Torii Hunter Plus the complete ridiculous signing of Gary Matthews, Jr, from last yr.
  14. And save ten with his bat. Not if Ned Yost keeps double-switching him out of the lineup late in games, he won't. But yeah, I do see Braun regressing a little bit.
  15. Darn, I was hoping to use this often: http://youtube.com/watch?v=l8vI1R4L4ac
  16. Quick! Lock the thread before the fight escalates! I know. We have a :duel: going.
  17. Why because both have initials of CB, who went to a Big 12 Conference schoolS, and provent to be busts in the NFL? Or is it that neither NFL talent to begin with?
  18. What's to discuss? Can we discussed if Brian Roberts it the long lost brother of Eric and Julia?
  19. If the Cubs HAD signed Lincecum (47th rd pick in the 2003 draft), the Cubs we wouldn't be yearning about trading for him.....But doing that what if is a slippery slide. Going that route, you could also say "What if the Cubs signed Khalil Greene?" Or Matt LaPorta, and Taylor Teagarden, yadda, yadda, yadda. All I was saying is if people are going to dream about the Cubs trading for Lincecum, then I could dream about the Cubs actually signing him, whne they drafted him.
  20. He signed, traded for, or drafted those players. He hired the person responsible for making sure they perform. He should definitely be held accountable if the team isn't performing. I'm not going to get stuck in a vicious cycle. We can agree to disagree.
  21. I'm sorry if Hendry is held accountable for the players on the field, then I just don't get it. He's not the MANAGER. Now if Hendry doesn't do everything in his power to improve the holes on this team, then yes, I would him accountable. But to hold him accountable for the players on the field, is simply wrong. What on earth are you talking about? You're right. General managers shouldn't be held accountable for how their teams perform. Or not. If you spent $120 million on a baseball team and they don't win 80 games, you can and should be held accountable. I don't care if all the players hit 50 OPS points below their average or give up a run more than their career averages. The GM must be held responsible for that. Fire the manager too if you have to. That I will agree to. But to hold Hendry accountable for the players ON THE FIELD, and their play is totally unreasonable.
  23. If the Cubs HAD signed Lincecum (47th rd pick in the 2003 draft), the Cubs we wouldn't be yearning about trading for him.....But doing that what if is a slippery slide.
  24. Let me say it again, as obviosuly the point was missed. Hendry has no control over how the players are used on the field. That job belongs to the manager (Piniella in this case). What Hendry has done is put together a very solid team, that has the potential to be a really good team. Now it is the job of Pineilla (NOT Hendry) to get the team to play well. If the players don't play to their potentials, or the manager doesn't get the players t play to their potential, makes the GM look bad, but in this case, it is unwarranted. Calling Hendry a "bad Gm" or "Hendry sucks" is simply not true. I know he has made some questionable moves, but he also made some good moves.
