  1. It's been said many time, many ways, but JR Smith is NOT a John Paxson player. He didn't even want JR Smith in the Chandler deal, but had to take him due to contracts having to match. All things being equal, Smith would still be in New Orleans (or possibly waived by now). With that said, Shannon Brown is every bit as talented as JR Smith, all Shannon is needing is the opportunity.
  2. You take our coaches, and won't trade us the 1st overall pick, so that we can take Darren McFadden, we take your players with little left in the tank. There's a reason why Bill Parcell's released Zach. He might be a good fit for Dallas, but I don't see him making too much of an impact, seeing as I believe Tony Romo will go ALL Rex Grossman on the Cowboys next yr. Take that Cowboys fan....
  3. Like a Cowboys fan arguing NFL. swing and a miss at least the Cowboys have more than one season to brag about Wasn't the HBO TV show "Oz" based on the Dallas Cowboys? And yet, the Cowboys still don't have as many NFL Championship/Super Bowl victories as either the Packers (BOOOOO) or the Bears. 12 and 8 respectively.
  4. I won't say that, because Nate Clement takes that title, especially after the contract he signed. And I believe Ashanti Samuels is also a strong candidate (Jerry Reese of the Giants, firmly believes that Ashanti is a "product of the system"). But I will say...Hall is a grossly underachieving CB in the NFL. Is he? In his first three years in the NFL (ages 21-23) he's picked off 12 passes and scored 3 defensive TDs. He's had half a sack and recovered three fumbles. Champ Bailey (easily one of, if not the, top corners in the league) in his first three years (also ages 21-23) he picked off 13 passes and scored 1 defensive TD. He had 1 sack and didn't recover a fumble. Those stats are extremely similar. Hall is still just about to turn 25, so he's really just hitting his prime (for a CB). I'd love to have him on the Titans. I didn't say I believe Jerry Reese, I just saying what he said. And to a certain degree I do believe Samuels will be overrated in 2008. He's prolly better then Clement, but that doesn't mean, I would offer him to same contract. Crap, I think you misunderstood me. I meant to argue about Hall. I'm not up to defending Patriots. :D And those are Hall's stats in comparison to Bailey, by the way. I understood what you're saying, I really do, but given the contract he'll likely ask for, I just don't think he's worth it. I am biased because my Bears locked up two pretty good CBs for decent amount of money. And why would you want to replace one troublemaker (Jones) with another troublemaker (Hall)? At this point, you might as well put Jeff Fisher at CB.

  6. That's blasphemy! It could be worse, we could be wearing these outfits from the 70's: http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/gallery/data/8/Dent_1976.jpg http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/gallery/data/8/medium/Sox_70s_shorts.jpg It's not "blasphemy", it's just I never like pinstripes. And yes, when your BASEBALL uniform looks like a uniform used in a Beer Belly slow pitch softball league, then you know you have a BAD uniform.
  7. Personally, I wouldn't mind those red jerseies, as long as it is for SPRING TRAINGING ONLY. And the Cub with the Bear in the symbol should be blue and not red, for it to look better.
  8. Look, I am all for creativity, style, flair, personality that can be put into a stadium, but I cannot for the life of me, wonder why people would want such a montrosity of a stadium? Maybe I have taste, or maybe I know what I like, but that prosposed stadium, would be a disgrace to baseball, IMO. Be creative, but next time, don't hire a 3rd grade class to design the "Stadium of the future", cause it's reall tacky....(shudders)

  10. JR Smith, a taller, less talented version of Ben Gordon, that's why... Hold on a second there, there are few players in the league more talented than J.R. Smith. Sure he is..I'll grant you the fact that JR is more talented player, but in no way is he a player you can say, "there are few players in the league more talented" in the same sentence as JR. You just can't. This guy is Eddie Robinson, with slightly better skills.
  11. JR Smith, a taller, less talented version of Ben Gordon, that's why...
  12. I want no part of Walker. He has a huge contract, plus he's had what two surgeries on his knees, which means, if he does see the field again, he's most likely a poss. reciever. I much rather target a game changer, or at least have the potential to be said game changer, instead of taken a huge gamble.
  13. First: Grossman is not the answer at QB, but he is still a better option then anything that could be had via draft (san Matt Ryan and perhaps Brian Brohm), or trade, or free agency. So anything around 2 yrs for Grossman, I could live with, as long as it leaves the Bears an opporntunity to draft his replacement. Second: If they DO re-sign Grossman, they need to put him into position to succeed. If that means they have to go get say an Alan Faneca and/or Max Starks plus draft a kid in the 2nd rd, then so be it. But if the Bears don't plan on re-signing Berrian , THEY MUST FIND A REPLACEMENT. I love the potential of Bradley, Davis and Hester, but none of the three can be counted on to be a #2, much less the lead reciever. Which means, the Bears might have to be proactive, and go after a weapon that could help Grossman, ie Moss (i'm not in favor of Moss, but..). Sitting still should NOT be a priority for the Bears. They have to be proactive.
  14. Watch out guys, the DBacks could overtake the Cards as the majors leaders in GRIT.
  15. I have a feeling he is going to want to show what Cleveland gave up when they moved him. I think Hughes is going to be a really good player for the Bulls, I really do.
  16. I am really hoping Hughes comes in and plays with a chip on his shoulder, knowing he was miscast, misused by Cleveland. We know Hughes can be a solid 15-20 ppg player. Is that worth the contract he got from Cleveland? No, but he does bring some scoring ability with him, something that can't be said about Wallace. Not to mention, the Bulls have 2 other players who could do what Wallace does best, and they are Noah and Thomas. IDK how the season will play out, but I am glad the Bulls no longer start off with a 4 .v. 5 disadvantage offensively. Hinrich/Hughes/Deng/Gooden/Noah Duhon/Gordon/Thabo/Noce/Gray Those are solid lines. I know there isn't a SUPERSTAR in this mix, but the Bulls play better when there isn't a "superstar" on the roster. And hopefully this Ben Wallace trade sparks them to a darn good finished.
  17. What's interesting about this deal is that the Bulls now have 4 players from the 2006 DRAFT. Thomas---4th pick. Thabo---13th pick. Simmons---15th pick. Brown---25th pick. What this does tell me is that the Bulls now have: Hinrich/Hughes/Thabo/Gordon/Duhon/Brown in the backcourt. Hughes won't be bought out....Which means, I suspect Gordon and Duhon won't be back with the Bulls in 2008-09 season. Which would leave the Bulls with Hinrich/Hughes/Thabo/Brown backcourt. Considering there isn't a guy under 6'3 in that backcourt, I say, Paxson has upgrade the position. Now you pick up Gooden/Simmons to go with Noah/Gray/Thomas and you have a depth of nice young, yet underdeveloped big men. Which means, you could see Paxson moving Simmons and/or Thomas in the offseason, for a more experience big man. I like this move by Paxson. Paxson recognize he needed Wallace out of Chicago, and he got two serviceable players (Gooden/Hughes) and two potential solid pieces who are sitll on their rookie contracts (Brown/Simmons). I hate to see Smith go, but getting some nice, decent young players in return for two players who isn't a part of the future, is definately a good move.
  18. Captain America (even tho he's Canadian) .v. Mr. Cowboy Up.....Should be an interesting joke off.
  19. It depends on the value. For example, if Murton's value is less than Marlon Byrd's to every team, then I'd rather keep him. If Baltimore or San Diego are willing to put a higher price tag on him (the two teams most rumored to be interested) then I'd deal him. I think the Cubs want to see who their other OF is going to be before dealing Murton. They just can't deal him for a prospect right now without another trade because that would leave the bench too thin. Murton is a sucky bench player anyway. Plus, the way I see it (assuming we carry 12 pitchers like usual) our bench could live without him. I think our bench as of now would be Ward, Fontenot, Cedeno, Blanco, Murton. Replace Murton with Fuld - problem solved. Then you have two players (Ward, Fuld) who can play OF. But I do understand his value is probably minimal right now. Personally, unless there is a trade, I prefer replacing Fontenot with Patterson, and giving the Cubs a decent speed guy off the bench. I don't particularly like Fontenot, I don't think he's a MLB player, and I would release him.
  20. I agree. And the Bears could still take another solid WR prospect possibly in the 2nd rd.
  21. Agreed. But Joe had th expectations of coming to an up-and-coming young team, ready to take off, and he wanted to be a part of them. Joe Smith was clearly NOT the problem, but at least John MACBETH Paxson (yes, John's REAL middle name) is giving Smith an opportunity to play for a good team.
  22. Personally, get rid of the pinstripes. Go with the straight white uni's for the home jersey (bck to the 20-40's style uni. And go with the 70's powder blue. The grey/gray unis are like the unis of the NBA and they are plain. At worst, I would prefer a similar blue top to that of the Dodgers.
  23. That is according to his wiki page.
  24. Technically, that doesn't mean Vaz is better then Lilly, simply means he's been healthier. And to be fair, Lilly does have two other seasons in which he pitched over 180 innngs. Not to mention Lilly didn't start having 30 started games in a season until 2003 (in comparasion Vazquez was having 30 start seasons by 2001). So while I will give you Vazquez is more durable then Lilly, I certaintly won't agree that Vazquez is better due to durability.
