  1. Very funny show. It's like Seinfield, except it's actually funny. Corner Gas is the worst show in the history of television. Says the minority. Racist. You know what, I am a racist, I abolsutely loving racing cars, trucks, etc, etc. are you drunk? No, I was turning a phrase....(honestly, I am not a racist...the minority comment, was based on the minoirty of people who don't like Corner Gas, and doesn't involved race. So whoever thought it was appropiate to bring race into the thread....it was uncool, and unwise)

  5. Am I the only one who believes the Pirates saves their best games/comebacks for the Cubs? It seems to me, that the Pirates play like crap against everybody else, but when the jersey say Cubs, it grabs their attention, and they decide toplay for real. It's unbelievable.
  6. I'm pretty sure, quite confident that Richard Hendrix is a JUNIOR. And most likely will return to Alabama.
  7. First: I wish all of the "Original 6" would have made the playoffs. If that would have happen, you might have seen some of the highest ratings for an NHL playoffs in a long time. So maybe next yr, Toronto and Chicago can get into the playoffs. Second: Every Western Conference team (including those pansies in Detroit) are so glad the Hawks didn't make it. You can make the case that the Hawks are the most talented team, NOT to make the playoffs. Third: I agree with the assessment, that Detroits needs to be eliminated in the 1st rd. Fourth: The matchup, I like is the Montreal .v. Boston. Any time you have the battle between two "Original 6's" in the playoffs, it should be a fun series.
  8. I say, by next Sunday, the Cards will be 5-6, Baltimore will be 4-6, KC 7-4, and Detroit be 1-9, and Cin being 5-5. And on the Reds, they'll see so many double-switches this week, that there eyes will begin to hurt.
  9. I wouldn't call this week "crap week." It could've been better, but it could've been worse. Finishing the week, 3-3, is pretty solid first week, IMO.
  10. Why would posting about Italian suppositories get you banned? :-s In You Endo Joke high five....snaps finger.
  11. Braun would be the last of the three I'd trade. i'd imagine Laporta would be the first to be traded, he'll be cheap and have the most trade value, and Braun and Fielder should be entrenched as franchise faces by then (if they aren't already) Unless the Brewers don't think they can afford both Braun and Fielder. Considering how ticked he was with the Brewers this offseason...with the renewal of his contract, and taking into account who the agent for Fielder is...(you know 'em, you love to hate him, he's ARod fave scapegoat), I'm pretty sure Fielder will be dealt before he reaches FA. Which would be perfect for Milwaukee, in the case, they would finally have room for Braun at 1B, and keep LaPorta in LF, and get a BOATLOAD of young talented players for Fielder. In fact, it wouldn't suprise me if Fielder ended up in Detroit (oh..........the sweet irony of it) for a deal that certains around Rick Porcello in 3 yrs. Edit: Guys FOCUS on the bolded part. I didn't say they would, or will trade Porcello, I'm just saying IT WOULDN'T SURPRISE ME.....Beisdes, they did trade Maybin and Miller for more hitter in Miguel Cabrera (even tho they have pretty dang good offense, before MC), so why would it so unusually for the Tigers to move Porcello? I don't think they will, unless it's for a top end guy like a Brandon Webb, or Erik Bedard. But again it wouldn't surprise me, if the Tigers traded Porcello for Fielder in a couple of yrs.
  12. Better question is how the hell are the Cardinals off to best start since 2000. Tim Kurkjian (or some other ESPN anchor, they are all the same to me) picked them to win the division and I laughed at it at the time but now... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview08/news/story?page=08expertpicks It's not an ESPN anchor that made that proclamation, cause Kurkjian predicts the Cubs to win the division in 2008. In fact only two ESPN personalities even picked against the Cubs (Pedro Gomez, and Nate Ravitz). So I clearly have no idea who you are talking about. But if you believe someone at ESPN has picked the Cards, then I will roll with it, and say whoever said that, must be an idiot. Because that said idiot clearly would not have done their homework, mean the Cards have 9 guys ALREADY on the DL. And it's not just crappy players, I'm talking 4/5ths of the rotation (Carpenter/Clement/Pinero/Mulder) and 3 members of the bullpen (Johnson, Kinney, and Springer). Not to mention they are not very good offensively, (Pujols, and who?), not very deep....In other words, the Cards are simply not a very good team. The Cards team looks like a 65 win team. So whoever the idiot that says the Cards would win the division in 2008, is clearly an idiot, or being sarcastic.
  13. I'm glad one Reds fan has a sense of humor. If that is true, the way to go for Bowden, would have been to trade Dunn to Washington while he is the Reds GM, quit the job, and take the Nats job. That's the only way the Reds would have traded Dunn for Soriano.
  14. The ONLY thing I can think of that the taller, whiter Augie Ojeda continues to play, is for the fact that Lou has no confidence that Cedeno/Fontenot or DeRosa could play SS on a regular basis. Which would be a subtle jab at Hendry for not getting any kind of decent SS to replace Theriot. Or perphaps the Cubs feel Theriot hasn't done anything to lose his job, which if that is the case, it would make me sick to the stomach. I don't mind Pie sitting a couple of games, I think it will help get his mind straight.
  15. I don't just hate UNC or Duke, I (impersonating Dr. Cox) mega-loathe both schools. But neither school is nearly as bad as Kentucky. The ONLY school in North Carolina I can stand is Wafe Forest, and that's because they had two of my favorites players come from the school; Tim Duncand Chris Paul.
  16. lol You're right, reds44, the Reds would be getting off light in that add. Add Edison Volquez, and Jay Bruce, and then we would have a deal.
  17. I'm not going to be too snub about it, but before the Final Four, I did pick Memphis to go all the way. My reasoning, Memphis has been the BEST team all yr, and they have the best player in the country, in Rose. When you combo that facts togethers, it equals a VERY DANGEROUS game for Memphis' opponents. IDC whoever wins in the UNC/Kansas game, my feeling is the NT game will be Memphis' to lose.
  18. But, but, but....there both Canadians? Just kidding.
  19. Sean Gallagher/Sean Marshall/Eric Patterson/Ronny Cedeno for Brian Roberts. :D
  20. yeah, that brandon backe, he's a superstar. Backe is a decent enough pitcher that qualify as being better then mediocre, and not quite good enough. He's a decent Jason Marquis type pitcher. Better then Sampson, IMO. Edit: Now looking back on his career numbers on the road, the Cubs SHOULD rope him, but alas the Cubs will prolly get no-hit by him on Sunday.
  21. This is one of the stupidest damn comments I've read on this forum. Agreed. I think we all agree that there is atleast 5-8 GMs who are clearly worse then Hendry.
  22. The loss to the Astros is more disconcerning to me then either losses to the Brewers. Because if we can't beat Chris Sampson, then what chance do the Cubs have against Oswalt and Backe? And what's even more disconcerning is the fact the Cubs are now 1-3 AT HOME. It would be one thing it is was 1-3 on the road, but at home? That's craziness. Why are the Cubs (don't matter the players) so afraid of expectations? Why are the Cubs afraid of being mention with the really good teams in baseball? Why is the manager the only one who is known to have great outwardly passion for this game? At this point, I can't wait for the Cubs to take their first rd trip. The road trip to Pittsburgh/Philly (betwee the 7th and the 13th) is going to be semi-huge for the Cubs. Those two series, may well in turn get the Cubs on track.
  23. Would the Giants version of a rally be, "And the Giants player X has worked the count to 3 balls and 1 strike"? Wouldn't that be the Giants rally?
  24. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/game_preliminaries_3.jsp I agree with a few posters, and don't really see this as a "creative" move for Cox. But I will give Bobby credit, he did his homework, and used the rulesbook to his advantage. But this "positional tomfoolery" was simpy out of necessity, not creativity.
