  1. IMO, there are about a handful or so of players (now or the immediate future) who are worth a contract starting at $15mill. ARod/Pujols/Vlad/Manny/Ortiz/M. Cabrera/ are definately worth $15 + per yr. Guys like Utley/Hunter/Hudson, IMO, are closer to being worth in the 10-13 mill per. So, IDK if I would have given Utley that contract. And I am sure as heck know I wouldn't give it to Hudson.
  2. Orlando Hudson is more like the 2nd baseman we've been chasing from the AL Eaast team, moreso then Chase Utley. So whoever is tell the "O-Dawg" he is worth $15 mill per yr, needs to have a DRUG TEST right now.
  3. http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/lohseky01.shtml He's basically the Cards version of Jason Marquis. Need proof: http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/scomp2.cgi?I=lohseky01:Kyle+Lohse&st=career The difference, the Cubs.........wayyyyyyyyyyyyy OVERPAY for Marquis a former Cards, and the Cards paid just what for the former Cubs.
  4. I don't consider myself a Troll, but if you guys don't want me here, I will stop posting. I just like talking baseball with all kinds of fans, and this board seems like a good place to do it. [-X ....no, no, no....you don't get to leave volunteerily...we get to kick you out....With that said....don't go, we like fans from other teams on this board. Talking to ourselves, have made some of the posters here a little..... :tease: and a little :yahoo: . So a new or fresh voice to keep us sane, is definately wanted here.
  5. I don't expect this pitching of the Cards to last all season. There's a reason that most pitchers in their rotation was available for the Cards to pick up. They're not very good. (Wainwright, excluded)
  6. Am I the one, who believes that if I was Bill Buckner, even tho I would grin and bear it on the return to Boston, I would still hold some bitterness/resentment at the city, and the media? The ONLY reason why they did this, is because of the 2 Championships in 4 yrs. Had they not won it in 2004 and 2007, he would still be despise in Boston. To me....this was as fake of a "welcome home ceremony" as I ever seen. They should have done this, before the 2004 World Championship.
  7. I am being serious. We are still in an era of baseball in which most teams still play for the "3 run homeruns" instead of playing baseball, with strategic moves, like bunting, hit and run, etc, etc. By moving the fences back, it makes organizations rethink, how they draft players, how they developed players, and which players to go after. It would force player, that if they want to play in the majors, they have to be more then adequate in the field, defensively, or you're a pinch-hitter. And by moving the fence back, it would separate the LEGIT power hitters, from the wannabes, who people might think are on the juice. In other words. That's the jist of people's problem with the DH. When the two leagues play, it would be like the NL having to be at a 1 hitter, or even 2 hitter disadvantage against the AL. I mean there are few NL teams that has a 1-8 lineup, and it's stacked. About 80% of the NL teams has atleast two below average hitters (.240 or below) in the lineup. Which means offensively, the AL would have and advantage of having two more hitters to use then the NL. Personally, I like to see the rule modified...let's say...no ONE player can be the DH for more then say 25 games during the season. Which means guys like Frank Thomas, David Ortiz, Jason Giambi, would be forced to have to improve their defensive games, or risk having to be pull for a defensive replacement late in the game.
  8. i'd say that detroit and texas are terribly stupid for giving away hamilton and renteria for not much at all. Don't poke holes in my flawed plan. That's seriously uncool man. 8-) Kidding asides, that's why it's a "hyperthical situation", as we know that stupid trades have happen...Juan Pierre, Aramis Ramirez, etc, etc.
  9. Let's play "Fast Forward" It's August 1, and the Pirates are in town for a crucial 3 game set. Lou Piniella takes out the lineup card to the umps and on that card is reads: LF: Soriano RF: Fuku 1B: Lee 3B: ARam CF: Hamilton>>> 2B: DeRosa SS: Renteria >>> C: Soto And of this lineup, it cost the Cubs: Wuertz/Pie/Gallagher/Theriot or Cedeno/ and two prospects. What would you say?
  10. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080407-kosuke-fukudome-chicago-cubs-piniella,0,7789593.story I had a sudden image of Kosuke turning around to bat RH against a LOOGY late in a tight game, ala Rocky II. Maybe he has an identical twin, who has the exact same skill set, who wants to play CF? =P~
  11. nobody's dumb enough to do that OK, how about an actual living, breathing person for Steve Trachsel? nope, nobody's that dumb either A living breathing person for Jason Kendall? that's just crazy talk Ok, how bout Jon Garland for Matt Karchner? Or Brant Brown for Jon Lieber.
  12. No matter how many good to great hitters there are in Detroit's lineup, no hitter is more important to the success of the team then Curtis Granderson. At first I thought this was sarcasm, but then I wasn't sure. Now I'm pretty sure it's not. Then explain why the Tigers are playing like crap against two crappy teams like the Royals and the White Sox, and trailing or lost today? I believe Granderson is more important to that offense, then originally believed. Because it's a handful of games and even the best teams play like crap over stretches of every season. True, but I do believe they miss Granderson setting the table at the top of the lineup. Because you got IRod hitting leadoff against lefties, and who.......against righties? Which leads to fewer base runners on base for their murderer's row, which means fewer fastball to hammer. So yeah, I do believe Detroit misses Granderson, just like the Cubs would miss Fukudome if he's out of the lineup.

  14. It would have been had they lost to Memphis, yes. When u are one of the prohibitive favorites to win the title, every yr---like Kansas---and fall short of the title, regardless of talent/expectations, it's call underachieving. The regular season record really doesn't matter, outside of seeding in the tournament. This KU team has lost to both I believe Davidson and Bradley (I believe) in the first rd, during Self's tenure at KU. They had not made the Final Four to this yr. If they fell to Memphis, they would have been praised for going further then then the immediate KU teams, but Self would have had to answer questions as to why he can't "win the big one."

  16. オンラインでフリーのtranslactionがあってウェブサイト.....それであなたが日本語で答えるために、日本人〔日本語〕を知らなければなりません。 公介規則.... Kosuke should officially be called, "Mr. Beisbol." I know it's lame, but he's definately so much better at baseball that Mr. "5 strikes and your out" Jack Elliot. You, my friend, are drunk I was slightly buzz, yes.

  18. I agree with the last part. I would offer slightly more than Billy D gets, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war with Pickens. Chances are we'd get Calipari if Self left. (TT would explode.) However, I disagree with the insinuation that we should be leery of offering Self a raise (with the implication being he's not a great coach) and that losing to Memphis would have been some kind of black eye. That team was good. What I meant was, I wouldn't go beserk on offering Self a big time raise. I mean Self really didn't do anything special, that Williams hadn't already did at KU, except for winning the championship. And while they did win it, they didn't because Self outcoached Calipari. And had THAT Free Throw go down, Self would have another LOONG offseason to explain how another talented KU team could underachieved so much. I would offer a singificant raise, but nothing earth-shattering. I would offer him an offer in the low Top 5-6 coaches in America in America.
  19. 福留はBB神です。 彼は男性です。 私は、クラブに公介が意味する感謝します。 福留のデンゼル・ワシントンに対する関係はジェイクス・ジョーンズの意志ファレルに対する関係と同じです。 My appreciation of Kosuke Fukudome, in his native tongue. 公介、揺れ続けてください。
  20. Congrats to Kansas. But man, how UNLUCKY was Chris Roberts? If the rim doesn't go all Bull like on him with 10 secs left, then that three becomes as useless as Ozzie Guillen, and Memphis wins it. I have no bad taste about the game, it was incredible, and I don't have bias toward either teams, even tho I did pick Memphis to win. But if I was Kansas I would be a little leary about offering a raise to Self, while he's been a good coach, he's a bounce of the ball in the rim away from having another LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNG offseason. Kansas earned the vistory after getting a reprieve, but Kansas was everybit as fortunate, as they were good tonight. I wouldn't any offer anything more then $3 mill per for Self. So, if Self wants to high-tail it to OSU, fine....Kansas could basically land any coach in America, now. But my feeling is...Self stays at KU.
  21. Thanks, I corrected the original post to junior. I keeping up with Ronald Steele---an oft-injured PG for Alabama--who happens to be when healthy, THE most underrated PG in America, as evident see how crappy Alabama has been the last two yrs, without Steele at PG, regardless of very solid talented team. With that said, if the Advisory Committee projects Steele as a 1st rder (I don't see how, but apparently there is a possibility it could happen), then Ronald will be declaring. So, I'm keeping an eye on him.
  22. I'm fine with the DH, really. It's not a "bastardization" of baseball (moving the Brewers to the NL, was a bigger bastardization, IMO, hehe) of baseball. I do agree that the DH means teams can get lazy with developing players as complete players, not just offensive players, but other then that, I have no problem with the DH. But IMO, to counter the DH rules in the AL, AL ballparks should be made bigger, then NL parks. I say 370 down the lines, 450 to straight away center, and 400 in the gaps. If AL has the DH, then teams in the AL MUST move their fense back.
  23. Alright, Scoreboard watching April....it's fantastic....
  24. Hard game to watch, but these type of games is what help bonds teammates. I hate to say it, but this game was a character testing game for the Cubs. Blowing the 7 run lead, only to have the fortitude to not throw the game away, and win the game in extras, shows me ALOT about the character of this team.
