Tell me about it. How is it that Boston is ready to move on to Ellsbury, and yet the Cubs can't wait to move Pie back to Iowa?

I didn't say it would happen, but the current players on Boston don't scream, "we're NBA Championship Material." I want to be proven wrong, but I see Boston bowing out early in the postseason. And I can't believe how so many people have bought into the kool-aid that is Boston and LA Lakers. I'm not ready for another "NBA Version" of the Boston/NYY series. So colour me desparate to see a potential, IDK....Orlando/Phx series.

Yeah the White Sox needed a leadoff hitter, but Pods is clearly not a leadoff hitter. He would have been a better 2nd or 8 hitter in a lineup. In fact adding Pods and subtracting Lee made the White Sox a worse offensive team. White Sox: 2004 w/o Pods.268/.333/.457 with 865 runs scored on average of 5.3 runs per game. (78 SB out of 129 chances) They were 3rd in the AL in offense. 2005 w/ Pods .262/.322/.425 with 741 runs scored on average of 4.5 runs per game. (137 SB out of 204 chances) They were 9th in the AL in offense. Brewers: 2004 w/ Pods .248/.321/.387 with 634 runs scored on an average of 3.9 runs per game. (138 SB out of 178 chances). They were 14th in the NL in offense. 2005 w/o Pods. .259/.331/.423 with 726 runs scored on an average of 4. 4 runs per game. (79 SB out of 113 chances). They were 6th in the NL in offense. While the White Sox did win the World Series in 2005, Pods was not the reason why they did. The White Sox and the Brewers had BETTER offenses without Pods, then with Pods. Besides during the 2005 season, Pods impact was so great that ALL of one White Sox hitter had 100 rbis. That was Paul Konerko. Second highest was Jermaine Dye with 86 rbis. In other words....Pods had LITTLE affect on the White Sox that season, period. The White Sox improve 7 games with Pods. The Brewers improved by 16 games that season. So again, Pods had little affect on the White Sox. In fact you can say that the White Sox pitchers had MORE IMPACT that season then Pods, and they could've sign Lofton to do what Pods did. If you're not getting the jist, the simple truth is...Pods had no direct affect on the White Sox season. They had career yrs from the pitching, and they stay reasonably healthy.

Gammons said that Lou is not happy with Pie and his .160 AVG or something to that extent, and went on to say that Crisp is the best defensive center fielder in baseball and that he could be a solution for the Cubs leadoff problem. Overall Gammons acted like it would be a good deal for the Cubs as a second option with Roberts being the first. Peter lost me at that quote. While not a bad defensive CF, but he clearly isn't the best CF in baseball. It maybe his BoSox homerism, or him believing in the ESPN hype machine, but there are other CF who are better defensively, like Torii Hhunter, Ichiro, Grady Sizemore, Gary Matthews, Jr (even tho he is playing LF). So if the Cubs are considering Crisp, and taking on his WHOLE contract for Sean Gallagher, they better get a good prospect back in return.

I guarantee if his OBP was 40 or so points higher than his batting average, Dusty would bench him. Dusty likes his "agressiveness" at the plate, because it's called "hitting," not "walking," dude. Just wait until Votto is hacking at everything, struggling to post an OBP over .300 and striking out 1 in every 3.5 AB's. Then praise Dusty. And if Dusty starts messing up, I'll be right here ripping him. It's not like I have some ties to Dusty. If he messes up, I'll say he does. It just hasn't come anywhere near happening, yet. Dude, don't do this to yourself. In no time you will be ](*,) at Dusty's decision. Going back to Hatteberg by the end of April, with Votto going to AAA for "more seasoning". Having Bruce stay in the minors till September because Patterson, Freel and Hopper are "his dudes." And then watch helplessly as Bruce rides the pine in September only getting sproadic at-bats because he has to "earn his due" as a major league. The sooner you get on the "I hate Dusty bandwagon" the funnier his moves becomes, and the less frustration you will feel.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't even believe Kobe's the best player in the Denver/Lakers series. At least not ARGUABLY. Something tells me, Kobe is going to have to dial it up to get the Lakers past the first rd, and even then, it might not be enough. Because the Nugs do have the big men to match up with the Lakers (Camby/Hilario/Martin .v. Bynum---if healthy---Gasol/Odom). And if Bynum ain't healthy, there not as clear cut as one might think. I mean, look at the Lakers projected starting lineup...Fisher/Bryant/Odom/Radman/Gasol. Not exactly imposing. Then you look at the Nuggs....A.Carter/AI/Carmelo/Martin/Camby, and you smell a potential upset here. I won't be surprise if the Lakers win the series, but it should come to NO SHOCK if the Nuggs eliminate the Lakers, as I believe they will. I don't like neither teams, but I kind of pulling for the Suns, especially after they got jobbed in last's yrs playoffs. You think Horry is going to "hipcheck" Nash into the crowd, with Shaq and Amare in the lineup? Think again. Should be an awesome playoff series despite the epic failure of the Bulls season. I agree. I expect TWO upsets in the first rd. The Lakers and the Celts bowed out quickly. I like Hawks athlethicism, talent and stupidity. When I mean "stupidity" I mean they are too stupid to realize they need to bowed down to one of Sterns "creations" and allow the Celts to win. I'm not convince that combining three non-winners=winning solutions. I see the Hawks in 5 here.

Are Urlacher and Briggs "special" friends? Because I know Urlacher had been compaigning to get Briggs re-signed for over a yr, even at the expense of his own finiancial security. Now that Briggs is "secure" he is now whining about his deal? Not to be left out Briggs once his new deal, redone---before even playing a down in 2008---because he doesn't like the numbers? Omigod.....let Urlacher retired. Let Briggs go pout in the corner, and be fined every day, and lose money. Let's see what Michael Okwo and Jamar Williams can do. And I wonder will the situations with Urlacher/Briggs cause the Bears to redue their draft evaluations. I mean, what if Keith Rivers is available? Or do you take perhaps a guy like Meyo in the 2nd rd?

The Cubs better be getting either Masterson, Lowre, or Declarman (sp?) along with Crisp. BoSox has said they don't want to pick up any of Crisp's contract, which means THEY DON'T GET A TOP PROSPECT plus another prospect for him. No thanks. Unless BoSox is willing to eat half of what is owed, I would not trade for him.

There's some rematches from last season. Like PHX/SA (and the Spurs won't be using their hockey thuggery to check Nash into the crowd), and Utah and Houston. I believe the Lakers will be sent home by Denver (my lone BOLD prediction). In a non-upset upset, I see Dallas knocking off New Orleans. San Antono moving past Phx quickly, and Houston finally making it past the first rd.

I guess I was going off this quote from you too much. You did mention previously you doubted they would take a tailback, but you sounded fairly adamant they wouldn't. My argument is that passing game isn't good enough to have two mediocre (at best) running backs - Julius Jones and TJ Duckett - and one injury prone tailback - Alexander - as the only options. Wide receiver and tailback are likely the greatest needs for the Seahawks and either will help them this year. I agree with your point. But teams picking where the Hawks, are looking for players who can step in and contribute almost immediately. And that is something Stewart wouldn't be in Seattle. He would essentially be "red-shirted" (for the lack of a better term). I still say Seattle trades up or down, over taking Stewart.

Sarcasm? It doesn't seem like it - and if I'm right, and it's not, then who said anything about a problem at leadoff? I'd feel pretty conflicted about Bonds on the Cubs, but his monster bat would sure go a long way to assuaging my concerns. I am conflicted also about Bonds. But signing Bonds, would then ALLOW Piniella to make Fuku up in the order to either leadoff, or 2nd, as many are begging him to due. What better protection for ARam would there be, besides Bonds? Soriano/Fuku/Lee/ARam/Bonds/Soto/DeRosa/Theriot would be such a badass and fearless lineup, that even the Yankees would crap in their pants at the sight..... But again...I am conflicted about Bonds....

Tell me about it. He's hit more homeruns against the Cubs (33) then any other franchise. He's hit more of his career HRs ar Wrigley (20 hrs) then any other park. To say..........Dunn loves facing the Cubs would be an understatement, as would I would be happy to see Dunn leave the NL Central.

The fact they have Murton behind a couple of INFs who can play OF, speaks volumes.... But hey, I heard the Cubs might call up Tony Thomas to send Soto down, simply because they need another 2B in the lineup.

You not trading Murton until the "right deal." Ok I get it, I do. But you won't call him up, because he's neither a leadoff hitter, a CF, or a lefty? My advice for the Cubs would be either trade Murton, or give him a legit shot. They are slipping him silly, by keeping him in the minors.

Even tho I like Stewart, and the possibility of taking a talented, but PR move RB like Stewart doesn't really improve their team. There looking at a 1st rder who will contribute for the WHOLE season. And had Seattle only signed either Jones or Duckett, then yeah, I could see Seattle popping for Stewart, but the fact that they put out good money for 2 rbs, makes taking a RB in the first like their 10th most pressing need for the draft. I see Seattle either taking a WR, or trading the pick (up or down). Besides, I personally think, he's injury causing him to "free-fall" in the draft is a smokescreen. I personally believe Stewart will go higher then some are saying. I say Stewart will either go to the Cards at 16, or the Texans at 18. And with the strong rumors that Seattle really likes Brandon Albert, and really wants to jump Pittsburgh to get him, it wouldn't surprise me if Seattle and Chicago make a deal that would include the Seattle's 1st/2nd/4th for the Bears 1st/6th.

I love how some people think that with a call of Murton, all but asured, with Soriano's injury, that they automatically assume Murton go right into LF. I hate to be the bearer or bad news, but I'm pretty sure Ward will get some starts in LF (against righties) along with Fontenot at 2B, and DeRosa at 2B and Reed Johnson in LF (against lefties). I know people want Murton in the lineup, if he's call up, but considering Theriot and Reed Johnson are the two CLOSEST things we have to a leadoff hitter (I didn't say they were legit leadoff hitters, simply closest to leadoff hitters the Cubs have), I don't see Murton getting at that much at-bats. Which would be a shame, to have Murton come to Chicago, just to ride the bench for 2 weeks.
