I believe that Soto will prove to be more valuable over the life of his contract than Judge will over his. Judge is so freaking big that it seems likely to me that his body will break down. Also, I don't think Soto is all that far behind Judge in terms of hitting. Definitely when it comes to defensive value, but how long will Judge add that value?
uh, not sure what happened with your quote but I am not the one who said that...
And I generally agree with you - superteams aren't really a thing in baseball like they are in basketball
Thought I had today:
Does Caleb get more control of the offense because Flus is a defensive guy? Like would Matt Nagy be giving him this type of freedom to make calls at the line? Or would he be more intent on showing he's the reason the offense is good?
Next season is make or break for Jed. If he goes into the season basically standing pat, he's letting his job ride on prospects coming up and being everything we hope they would be and for the returners to all stay steady or improve. That makes me think he's going to have to make at least 1 big move this offseason, whether it's for a starter or a big bat
That's one of the most encouraging things for me in watching Caleb Williams have some success. It's a league where guys can take a lot of time to get up to speed at the QB position. Seeing him (and Daniels) have this level of success (and for Caleb, the marked improvement as the season goes on) seems to bode well for his future
There is nothing about Julian Merryweather's MLB career that suggests this level of confidence in him coming back from injury. His 2023 performance was very good. Other than that, his best year as a pro was in 2016 in High A and AA in the Cleveland system.
Hey, it might not last that long, so put Illinois up there with the ranked teams. Not sure if you use coaches poll or AP right now, but they're ranked in both
