  1. There is no way Dusty plays both Murton and Cedeno every day. Replace Murton with Mabry and Cedeno with Macias, and THAT is the worst case scenario
  2. The fact that Insider would consider Texas out ofthe BCS if they lose is ridiculous to me. If SC and Texas both lost this weekend, I'd fully expect them to be the two at-large teams to replace ND and O$U, leaving the Irish in the Gator Bowl as they were as a BCS-eligible team in 2002. Hey look, we agree on something! No way USC and Texas drop completely out of the BCS picture if they lose this week. That would really be a black eye on the system
  3. As a college football fan, as well as a Northwestern fan who saw them early in the season, let me tell you that they could very easily have two by now. Penn State could also very easily have zero losses by now, as they lost one very close game and won one. Similarly, Northwestern could very easily have another loss if they hadn't gotten lucky on the onside kick versus Iowa. Hell, USC could've easily had a loss if Leinart hadn't fumbled the ball out of bounds against ND. That's the way college games work, you get an L or a W, and hopefully the close games even out in the end. Northwestern also beat NIU by just 1 point.
  4. Good point. Less money of course when you drop lower in the draft, but I would much rather land on a team like the Redskins or Raiders than on Houston or Arizona. Also, on paper, ND's schedule looks a little tougher next year. Despite playing three branches of the Armed Forces, ND does lose the two Big East flops (Syracuse and Pitt) and adds a pair of mid-level ACC squads (Georgia Tech and North Carolina). Plus Penn State, Michigan and UCLA at home and USC on the road to end the season. Seems like a tough road to the National Championship
  5. All division games are equally important. The "rivalry" aspect of the Bears-Packers just serves as motivating tool. I find it amusing that like Cubs vs. Sox, this rivalry is not perceived equally from both sides. Bears fans HATE the Packers, Packers fans HATE........the Vikings.
  6. Tough one, right?
  7. Somehow the mismatch this year takes some luster off this game. Plus, I don't think beating the Packers is any more important than beating Detroit or Minnesota
  8. Quinn doesn't ant the Heisman. It's the NFL kiss of death. Great ending to that MAC Title game. No chance NIU will get picked up for a bowl anyways?
  9. I tried posting a poll and got a whole slew of errors
  10. Tough, I know.
  11. Tough, I know.

  14. USC is still favored by 2 or 3 touchdowns though, right?
  15. i can't even post (if this went through it's a miracle)
  16. Anyone else having trouble accessing the league today? It's giving me an error and saying I'm not a member of the league...

  18. I think the auto-bids for conferences is fine, though it's unfair that 1/2 the conferences have title games and the other 1/2 don't. In other words, Penn State has no chance of losing their spot to, say, Northwestern in a Big Ten title game. Same goes for WVa and USC. the counter argument, of course, is that if Texas and Va Tech are as good as we think, there is no worry of them getting upset. PS - I updated the Bowl comittments on the firsr post of this thread
  19. Maybe someone can mak Bruce a "Bruce Miles Headshot" avatar. Then people will believe!
  20. I agree, there's no reason ND should decline their invite. They've had a great season and it's not like they aren't deserving. Even if they did decline, it wouldn't help bring change. Of course they shouldn't turn down the invite. That's not fair to the players or the fans. But I really hate the repeated "Don't hate the playa, hate the game" attitude about what's broken in the BCS
  21. Does anyone think that perhaps the 2 at-large teams should have to face each other in the "lowest" BCS bowl? In other words, should the Fiesta be allowed to (potentially) pick the two at-large teams with picks 1 and 3 over the conference champs?
  22. My mistake. The fact that it was posted on the main page like a featured article led me to believe it was something different than the message board, But the point of my posting it was simply to show yet another example of the attitude that ND is somehow above or better than conference teams. Also, it once again brings up the extremely flawed logic of "It's okay for ND to bump out more deserving teams because they make more money, etc." It's very easy for you or any other Irish fan to say "well, that's just the way the system is, don't blame the school, blame the BCS, etc." But I don't hear any ND fans or supporters say "ND really ought to opt out of this privelaged arrangement for the betterment of the sport." It's like a spoiled rich kid saying "don't hate me because my daddy buys me a new BMW every year, It's not MY fault he's rich. What? Sell the car and donate the money to charity? Errr...."
  23. A prime example of the ND mentality... from http://www.ndnation.com (an editorial...not from the message board)
  24. Army and Navy would also have a bit of a problem with that. If you can somehow come up with a way for this to work with alignments and memberships and such, you talk to Myles Brand and maybe he can pull it off. I'll also note that this is an ironic argument coming from someone whose team stopped being independents one decade ago and up until this year had been sliding downhill ever since then. Really? PSU joined the big Ten in 1990 and played their first conference schedule in 1993. Their record since then: 106-50 Notre Dame's record in that same period: 99-55-1 Oh, plus 4 different coaches in that span. So how has joining the Big Ten made PSU inferior to ND (or anybody)?
  25. Damn those Cardinals  Cardinals=Louisville Cardinal=Stanford Damn that Notre Dame education
