  1. All the merchandise here says Big 10 Champs. No talk (or griping) about co- anything. Fans here are thrilled not to be 4-7 again...
  2. Pretty short circus trip this year
  3. I chose "rock" because "all of the above" wasn't an option. The latest CD's I've purchased: System of a Down - Mesmerize & Hypnotize The Mars Volta - Scab Dates Kanye West - Late Registration Coldplay - X&Y White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning Doves - Some Cities Sigur Ros - Taak...
  4. And solidifies (IMO) that Ichiro isn't going anywhere
  5. Now THAT is messed up. These bowls should have to give preference to conference winners
  6. You're right, we need a playoff. Then we can argue why Notre Dame doesn't belong in that either.
  7. Since there is so much hub-bub about who does/doesn't deserve to be in the BCS at-large picture, I thought I'd quickly list the teams and who they lost to (with the score): LSU - Tennessee (30-27) Virginia Tech - Miami (27-7) Oregon - USC (45-13) UCLA - Arizona (52-14) Ohio State - Texas (25-22), Penn State (17-10) Notre Dame - USC (34-31), Michigan State (44-41) Georgia - Florida (14-10), Auburn (31-30) Auburn - Georgia Tech (23-14), LSU (20-27) Alabama - LSU (16-13), Auburn (28-18 ) Miami - Florida St. (10-7), Georgia Tech (14-10) Texas Tech - Texas (52-17), Oklahoma State (24-17) West Virginia - Virginia Tech (34-17)
  8. Except that PSU is above LSU in the BCS, and will likely be there this week as well. Maybe LSU will jump them to #3, but prior to Saturday, it was Miami at #3, PSU at #4 and LSU at #5
  9. Many teams are done, but there are still games to be played (especially with Hurricane makeup dates): BIG GAMES ------------- (13) Georgia @ (24) Georgia Tech (19) Florida @ (21) Florida St. OTHER GOOD TOP 25 GAMES ---------------------------------- (16) Fresno St. @ Nevada Pittsburgh @ (12) West Virginia (6) Notre Dame @ Stanford TOP 25 MISMATCHES ------------------------ (2) Texas @ Texas A&M Arkansas @ (3) LSU (22) Wisconsin @ Hawaii Virginia @ (10) Miami N. Carolina @ (5) Va Tech Syracuse @ (18) Louisville UAB @ (24) UTEP OTHER IMPORTANT CONFERENCE GAMES ------------------------------------------------ Toledo @ Bowling Green Nebraska @ Colorado Boise St. @ La Tech S. Florida @ UCONN W. Michigan @ N. Illinois I'll edit the Rankings when the BCS comes out Monday.
  10. Sadly, I think record can be irrelevant, or at least less relevant than it ought to be. Case in point, preseason polls. Tennessee as National Champs anyone? Purdue? At least the BCS waits until after week 6.....
  11. Lame
  12. Would it be boring to just say "Here is what happens in each bowl: Rose Bowl: 1 vs. 2 regardless of conference Orange Bowl: ACC champ vs. Big 10 champ Fiesta Bowl: SEC Champv vs. Big 12 champ/At-Large Sugar Bowl: Big East vs. Pac 10 Champ/At-Large Or something like that, rotating each year.
  13. I am not saying this is fair, but as long as a team is eligible record really becomes meaningless. The teams that bring the most money will get the bids. IMO ND will go no matter what happens, if they win next week. The only thing that will keep them out is the top 4 rule, and that may come into effect if a Big XII north team upsets and USC loses to UCLA, moving PSU and LSU into 1 & 2, but even then it is not very likely. Teams that may deserve it more could get screwed. It is not fair, but it is the business aspect taking over. And if, in the end, it's about business, then the BCS is an even bigger farce than previously imagined
  14. Here is what I think the new BCS SHOULD look like (not what it will look like): 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Penn State 4. LSU 5. Virginia Tech 6. Ohio State 7. Oregon 8. Miami 9. Notre Dame 10. Alabama
  15. Looks like ND and OSU have to sit back and hope for no conference title upsets. We'll already have WVa or S. Florida eating up one BCS bid, and if Florida St. or the Big XII North winner upset and get auto bids, that would be 3 of the 8 BCS bids go to teams not in the BCS Top 12. Then you add PSU, USC, Texas and the SEC champ, and someone is going to be left out in the cold. And if Oregon goes 10-1, I don't see how you could fit a 2-loss team into the formula.
  16. This is by far the weirdest new baseball construction i've seen. When have we seen a city try to build a new stsdium next to an old oe when the lot isn't big enough for both? No wonder demolition of the old is damaging the new
  17. But at least they have a 600 foot tall arch
  18. I think USC proved that a team with a very goood defense could beat them. Here's hoping Penn State gets a chance to prove that
  19. Penn State going to the title game after 3 or 4 years of calls for JoePa's head would be one of the greatest stories in the history of college football IMHO. hey at least there's hope for Illinois if Penn State can recover from that mess they had a few years ago  You think Zook can recruit like JoePa?
  20. What a frigging mess. I SOOOO hope USC loses tonight. That would be really unbelievable
  21. Well, well, well. Look what former Big 10 scrub team is going to be #3 in the BCS on Monday! Now if only Texas can lose, we might see Penn State in the Rose Bowl yet! God d### I love having a team that can actually win every week (especially after suffering through the Cubs this summer).
  22. Unfortunately for fans of Oregon, VT, etc., the bowl comittees are as biased as you are. I think if it comes down to one 2-loss team getting an at-large, you can't argue ND over OSU. Ohio State lost at home to a potentially 12-0 team, and on the road to a 10-1 team. Similar debate can be made with PSU and Miami. Which loss was worse, Miami losing to FSU, or Penn State to Michigan? Tough call. I think the worst thing that could happen to ND is for no more 0 or 1-loss teams to lose, because they wouldn't have a team fall behind them for "losing late". You may still get your dream of a ND vs. OSU matchup, it just may not be in a BCS game ;)
  23. Why is every single USC game (minus ND) at night? I swear their games never start before 10:15pm ET.
  24. I agree, but I definitely think OSU deserves it. There simply aren't enough 1-loss teams to take all of the at-larges are there? OSU's 9-2 is much more impressive than ND's in my opinion. OSU lost to two top 5 teams with one of them coming on the road. ND lost to the #1 team at home, but also lost to a 5-6 team at home. Oregon's only loss came to USC. Virgina Tech's only loss is to the #3 team. You could possibly have a 2nd place 10-1 team (Oregon), but an ACC team with 1 loss may not even make the championship game (Va Tech), while the SEC Champ could have 2 losses as well. That's when it becomes a free for all. Plus either West Virginia or South Florida will get one of the automatic bids, which really farks things up. In summary, you could end up with at least: USC Texas PSU ACC Champ (1-loss) SEC Champ (at least 1-loss) Big East Champ Oregon ACC runner up (2-loss) Va Tech (if they tie with Miami, they miss the conference title game against FSU) SEC runner up (at least 2-loss....Bama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn?) OSU (9-2) ND (9-2)
  25. Mike Tirico (sp?) was pretty against ND making a BCS game as they discussed it during the PSU/Mich St. game. He argued that with all the 1-loss teams out there, ND's loss to a 5-6 Mich St. team should keep them out. He even argued that OSU shouldn't get in despite it's losses being to the #2 and #4 teams in the BCS standings. Would be a shame if Va Tech, Georgia or Oregon were bypassed for ND in my opinion.
