  1. No, they're in Fairfax, but it's pretty close. Plus, the teams are seeded according to who the comittee thinks will win, right? So in no way predicted that GMU would advance to Washington in the first place. I think it's nearly impossible to seed a 64 team tournament and have absolutely neutral locations for all teams involved. Therea are more factors than just proximity to campus. They try to avoid having any teams face each other pre-Final Four that have faced each other in the regular season, etc. etc. BTW, can we call a moratorium on bitching about the Illinois Washington game? It's really, REALLY old.
  2. I seriously have no interest in this Nova/FLA game. It can't possibly be as good as the last one.
  3. My bracket is farked but I don't care. Let's see GMU vs. LSU in the finals! Jai vs. Big Baby!
  4. That's an emotional blow to GMU...can they keep it up for another 5? I have my doubts.
  5. Greatest game ever? Okay, maybe not, but talk about a difference in intensity between these teams. Does UConn even care that they are playing today?
  6. Looks like the real Huskies showed up in the last 4 minutes as they stretched a 2 point lead to a 12 point lead real quick. GMU needs to start the 2nd half hot or they are doomed.
  7. GMU looks a little overmatched early, though Jai Lewis is keeping it close. If they can get a couple of Huskies in foul trouble they may have a chance
  8. Name one team that does that when the shot clock isn't winding down or they're not trying to get back into a game while they're trailing. I can't name you a team who has that as a philosophy, because that would be a dumb philosophy. I have seen many times in the tournament someone shoot a 3 with plenty of time left. It's usually outside of the offense, and usually gets a "that was a bad possession/look" comment from the announcers. Some guys just can't help but launch one whenever they touch it. This is how teams like LSU end up going 1 for 15 from 3....most of those shots were poor looks. But this isn't a valuable argument. I like one style, you like another, we aren't likely to change eachother's minds. Let's enjoy the games and hope George Mason makes the Final Four for pure entertainment value.
  9. A little penicillin would clear that up
  10. so if illinois had glen davis, you're telling me you would want bruce weber to tell davis to change his style of play? That would be ridiculous, but I wouldn't enjoy watching Illinois play nearly as much as I have. It's why I loathe the NBA. And comparing Glen Davis to Shaq is foolish. When you're 6'8 and fat in college you can get away with it cause college teams are undersized, when you're playing against elite big men who are 5 inches taller than you, you can neither push them around or shoot over them should you get positioning. Davis will be a huge bust. But Dee Brown will be rookie of the year, right? Cuz the NBA is a perfect setting for undersized, streaky shooting guards. What's wrong with what SSR said? This has nothing to do with the Illini. Glen Davis is listed at 6'9" (so he's probably closer to 6'8"). At his size, there's a good chance he'll struggle at the next level. He won't be the strongest guy around - like Shaq is - and he won't be taller than other centers. What SSR is talking about is exactly what happened to Robert Tractor Traylor. Sure, Davis is more athletic, but he's still at a major disadvantage when he goes to the NBA, and I don't want the Bulls to take that risk. I'd rather have Tyrus Thomas (did you know he has tremendous leaping ability?) or LaMarcus Aldridge (no matter how he played yesterday, he'd be a great compliment to Tyson down low). I'd be thrilled with Thomas, though I question his ability to score at the next level. But that leaping....so tremendous. College Basketball would be vastly improved if the 3-point line were moved back. It's ridiculous that college seniors shoot 3's from the same distance as high school freshmen. And when teams design large chunks of their offense around the 3 and they end up going cold, they are screwed (Memphis last night, for example). Sure, it can keep you in games (WVU) but I just don't find it that entertaining. It also encourages bad 3-point shots. If an offense is designed well and you get open looks, fine. But some teams just jack up 3's with 2 guys in their face while fading away. That's dumb.
  11. Holy crap, I'm tied for 3rd in the Yahoo NSBB Pick 'em! Of course I'm like 2543535 points behind Vance....
  12. I'm glad to hear he has an open mind about it. There will be times, however, when Marshall or Guzman won't be able to throw strikes either, but you take the good with the bad I suppose.

  14. Interesting difference in referee style these two games. LSU and Texas were beating the tar out of each other and there were no calls while Memphis and UCLA got called for looking at each other funny. I agree with the assessment of Aldridge. He looked great on Thursday, but got killed today. SouthSideRyan may not like Sean May basketball, but as far as NBA prospects go, the Bulls could use 300 lbs of ass in the paint. Works for Shaq, right? You think he doesn't get called for offensive fouls now, in the NBA he can knock the entire other team down and won't get called. And I still prefer it to college teams (coughillinicough) who jack up 3's all game. Move the 3-point line to international distance and see how that changes things.
  15. LSU has a serious shot at winning it all. Their confidence is so high right now and every team will be spooked by Thomas' shot blocking. I'd love to see them play UConn in the finals
  16. I had them first! yes, but I'm a convert. Too bad Thomas and Davis won't be there next year (though hopefully one will be a Bull)
  17. LSU is my favorite team ever
  18. I think Davis shot the 3 anticipating Texas wasting their last foul. The didn't (clearly). They were lucky to get the offensive rebound.
  19. I literally jumped off of my couch on that last sequence. HOLY S#*% what a game!
  20. Can we stop talking about the stupid Illini game? For chrissake, get over it.
  21. Aldridge vs. Thomas/Davis is going to be frigging awesome.
  22. It should be the "Old Style Bleachers" but OS probably couldn't afford the naming rights. There is NOTHING like drinking an Old Style at Wrigley. It is one of life's greatest pleasures. It's due to the ingenious system of pipes at Wrigley that connect the pee-troughs to the taps on the 100 level
