    Va Tech did it's part in the "Screw the BCS by having 7 undefeated teams" crusade. Unfortunately, all 7 won't make it. USC plays UCLA, and Georgia will probably play Alabama in the SEC title game (if they both win out). What is up with 'Bama playing Utah St. this week? Random non-conference, borderline Division II school in late October? LSU too? Looks more and more like next week's PSU vs. Wisconsin game will be the Big 10 title game. That's assuming that Northwestern doesn't win out, as they hold the tiebreaker over Wisconsin (but not PSU).

    Believe me, it's not a big deal. One segment is maybe 6 minutes tops. 1/3 to 1/2 will be video clips. They'll stand there with the trophy, get some applause, and leave. The Oprah producers only care about sports if there is some sappy story attached, it's a woman, or both (Lance Armstrong, Sheryl Swoopes, Danica Patrick...)

    As a former employee of Oprah, I got an email today saying that they are doing a live segment of the show tomorrow (probably the opening or closing segment) with the White Sox. Just in case anyone cares....

    Yeah. And it featured BYU going for a 2-point conversion in the 4th quarter to tie the game. Instead, the pass was picked off in the end zone and returned 100+ yards for 2 points. The episode also features some PSU player talking to Shamu. I attended a PSU vs. BYU regular season game in which Penn State destroyed the Ty Detmer lead Cougars. Good times This could be a good time to re-launch my "Rocket Ismail for 1990 Heisman" campaign. Seriously, that was pathetic. That was back in the days when Penn State beat every team with a Heisman winner on it. I remember I had a T-Shirt that said "Heisman Graveyard" with the Nittany Lion next to the headstones of Detmer, Vinny Testeverde and Herschel Walker It wasn't just PSU, Detmer was a product of the BYU system, as was exruciatingly proven in the NFL. The classic example came in the team's respective bowl games after the 1990 season, where Detmer threw five picks in his bowl game while Rocket was a BS clipping call away from a national title-reversing punt return for a TD against Colorado. Though Rocket was a bit better, neither of them lit the NFL on fire.

    Had Reinsdorf built New Comiskey in Addison back in '91 instead of on the South Side, I think our perception of the team and its fans would be very different. Despite all the talk, there really aren't that many tried and true fans on the south side. Had the stadium been in the southwest suburbs (where many 2nd and 3rd generation sox fans now reside), their attendance would be much higher, and the public face of the fandom wouldn't be "white trash drunk/druggies, etc."

    They fail to convert probably about 90% of Michigan football fans who come in as undergrads, so they don't have a chance with grad students. BTW, Cheap Seats is doing the '89 Holiday Bowl between PSU and BYU this week. It should be replayed tonight at 9 PM central. That was a prototypical Holiday Bowl. The over/under on that game is always about 87 points. I think PSU won 50-39 or something like that?

    IM is useful when your family/friends live hundreds of miles away and you spend a lot of time at the computer. Also, my wife travels for work, so I can chat with her during the week "incognito", whereas a telephone call would be frowned upon by her employers. As for Jabroni, I think he was before my time. Never had the good fortune to "experience" him before he was baninated

    It would have been better had Joe Buck been talking about the Cardinals non-stop. He was painted in way too pretty a light in that parody.

    While it would actually be better for PSU to see Northwestern lose (netting a 2nd conference loss), the Wildcats are just too much fun to root against. Of course I went to NU for grad school for 3 years as well, but they didn't manage to convert me from my Nittany Lions loyalty

    I was watching Dan Roan interview Jerry and Drayton McLane last night, and both Roan and Drayton were a full foot taller than Reinsdorf. What is he, 5' 1"? Napolean complex anyone?
