  1. Pafko has the Mic right under his nose....
  2. It would probably take more than a few to actually make the game threads an enjoyable experience once again...
  3. jeez. I like what he does at the plate, for the most part, and his defense in LF is serviceable. But he's a butcher in RF. He looks like a chicken with its head cut off out there. lf and rf are the same. That is flat-out not true. please explain the difference between catching a fly ball in rf and in lf. Well, the angle of the ball coming off of the bat for one. It is completely different. Not to sound all "I've done it so I would know", but I played both positions in college and it is just different. Sure, catching a fly ball is the same. but everything that happens before that, your positioning, route, angle recognition is different.
  4. jeez. I like what he does at the plate, for the most part, and his defense in LF is serviceable. But he's a butcher in RF. He looks like a chicken with its head cut off out there. lf and rf are the same. Maybe on your computer they are, but not in real life. by the way...as you know, i don't watch the games. my computer told me that your ace didn't pitch very well today, but i wanted to get an eyewitness account...how'd he look? Not to ruin a good pissin match, but you honestly think playing LF and RF are the same? Or were you just trying to rile him up?
  5. jeez. I like what he does at the plate, for the most part, and his defense in LF is serviceable. But he's a butcher in RF. He looks like a chicken with its head cut off out there. lf and rf are the same. Well besides them being two totally different areas of the field, and reading the angle of the ball off the bat. They are not the same, granted its not as big of a difference between CF and a corner outfield spot, but its far from "the same."
  6. I fell like I am at Cubs.com.... This place use to be free of all that crap, and now it appears almost daily. It's a game, thats all.
  7. Indiana beating Indiana St 38-7 with 12 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Kellen Lewis is another exciting young QB in the Big 10. 10-17 243 yards, 3 TD. Also 7 rushes for 35 yards and another TD. I'm under no illusions that IU is going to do much in the Big 10, but their schedules sets them up to be bowl eligible for the first time in a long time. It was Hoeppner's goal to "play 13".
  8. DUI.... Oh, woops. Wrong sport. I'm just messing around. I'm curious to see how their football team does this year.
  9. DUI.... Oh, woops.
  10. Look for Cedeno get the start for Theriot tomorrow.
  11. Didn't the Cubs trade Bill Mueller to SF a few years back after the 8/31 deadline?
  12. i said it before they picked vitters. i don't think he'll play a single game at the big league level... hopefully i'm wrong. I'm not saying your wrong, or right, but how in the world do you come to that conclusion? Your able to come to that conclusion by reading a few scouting reports about him online? You have never seen him play, you are relying totally on high school humbers and a limited professional season. That just baffles me.
  13. turns out that they did the right thing with DuBois No they didn't. How many times does this have to be gone over? Dubois didn't have to set the world on fire, all he had to do was play better than Todd Hollandsworth. The problem is that we don't know what would have happend becuase Dusty contiuned to trott out a crappy Hollandsworth. It's probably not just the Cubs, its all the MLB. In the NFL you don't see crappy vets given playing time over cheaper and probably just as productive younger players. Kendall is playing well but it's not a good bet that he will put up better numbers than Soto next year or the following. My prediciton if Hendry is still GM, Kendall 2 years @ 4mll/year. Dubois was terrible, he was terrible for the Cubs and for everybody else at the major league level. There just might be a reason he hasn't played in the major leagues since 2005, and it has nothing to do with the CUbs, Hendry, or Dusty. He wished he could have Hollandsworth's career. The Cubs did exactly the right thing by not playing him.
  14. the cardinals will finish 5+ games out. jacque jones hates chicago, cubs fans, and the chicago media. interviews with him are hilarious. They are funny, can't say I blame the guy though if he really feels that way.
  15. actually he is, he's just been unlucky with balls in play and hasn't helped himself with his fielding. i wasn't being sarcastic. he has had some of the nastiest breaking stuff i've ever seen him throw. fastball has also looked good. The Brewers have a .400 BABIP for the game, and have gotten a couple of really lucky hits at the right time. exactly. i know game threads are emotional, but this one has been nuts. and what's funny is that he was one really lucky hit from giving up 1 ER in 5 IP. So 3 ER in 5 IP is garbage, but 1 ER in 5 IP is really good, so that one seeing-eye blooper determined that Hill's outing tonight was garbage rather than really good. One lucky hit or one terrible 0-2 pitch that hit Weeks. Depends on how you look at it.
  16. Shut the hell up. Drop it and consider this your only warning. Warn the guy that doesn't think Rich Hill is God for telling someone to shut up, but don't say a word about the "Rich Hill is God" fan club member who calls me an idiot and a moron. Can't say I'm surprised. I didnt call you one, I said your own statements are making you look like one, there is a difference. Either way, knock off the attempted loopholes around member guidelines. Crack that whip baby!
  17. I knew he'd get a hit after I posted that. Classic.
  18. I think people are getting on Rich because he is respoonsible for the 3 runs, and the lack of runs scored by the Cubs. If Rich catches the 2 hopper hit back to him by Hardy, then hardy doesn't score. If he gets a bunt down, something that should be asy to do, Soriano drives him in on the fly to right. If he doesn't plunk Weeks with an 0-2 pitch, he doesn't score. I realize the outcomes could have been different in every scenario, but he's made his share of mistakes tonight.
  19. My bad... I checked Rivalries, never thought about Transactions.
  20. offical according to Yahoo... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AnuN7TJQ9WLk0aUygo7OnqMRvLYF?slug=ap-astrosfirings&prov=ap&type=lgns
  21. In this one case then I say good for the writer.
  22. from Rotoworld: http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/playernews.aspx?sport=MLB&line=221459 Myers was upset after a reporter asked him about 2 homeruns he gave up yesterday. This sums up Myers perfectly. When he was in the minors I was doing some work for BA and had to arrange some photos to be taken for their next issue. He refusede because BA didn't rank him high enough and pretty much blamed me for it. I just laughed and walked away from him.
  23. Wow, good catch! Thanks for re-posting! I've been thinking about this for a few days. I've been a proponent of having a nice balance between statistical analysis and scouting. Kendall's numbers weren't good in Oakland, but in talking with Gary Hughes (you'd like him if you met him, trust me), he said the bat speed was still there. I don't know if you can directly measure that in numbers. Speaking of numbers, they're looking pretty good with the Cubs, and that hit-and-run single last night was a thing of baseball beauty. I agree - but it seems like the current balance is 20/80 in favor of scouting. I'm not a big fan of that balance. You need a balance, neither side should be ignored. Who knows what it is right now. The only problem that I have is often times when pro-scouting arguments are made they are mocked at by the other side.
