  1. Big letdown AB there against Keppinger, wasn't even close on any of those.
  2. Its fun to mock it and all, but it would be nice for Rich to be able to do the simplest thing asked of a pitcher just occasionally.
  3. Keep the ball up against Hopper. He'll make contact on anything chest high or below.
  4. Don't criticze Hill for not being able to bunt... I've been told that it doesn't matter.
  5. Come on Mr. 1980's hair, the Cubs need a win, pitch good.
  6. The Brewers catch a break, Oswalt is leaving the team to be with his wife who is expecting their first child. He will not pitch in that series. The Brewers will face three rookies in that series. Albers, Felipe Paulino, and Juan Gutierrez.
  7. I often wonder how the Cubs would have been if they had just signed him and not gone through with the Choi experiment.
  8. You know Marquis took great pleasure in beating the Cardinals today. This was a big start for him. Sometimes I feel like his only suppporter around here, but I think he has done an adequate job of a 34/4th/5th starter, whatever you consider him to be. He has done what was expected of him, most notably give the starting rotation some stability and innings. This season should end up pretty close to his first two years with St. Louis, which were pretty good years. July and August were rough, but lately he has thrown the ball well when a time the Cubs really need it. His GB/FB% has gone up this year to 1.56 from 1.16 last year. If he keeps his .BAA where it is it would also be a career low.
  9. Too bad the Cubs minor leaguer playing SS couldn't have stopped that ball.
  10. Get the first guy out, and then Albert hit one 857 feet for all I care.
  11. Cedeno.... Nothing much more to say.
  12. The "great one" on this board predicted Marquis would have an ERA over 5. Marquis has been solid all season for the Cubs. No he hasnt but hes been better than expected. Hes had his ups and downs, and Im glad he pitched well today. You made an argument for Marshall, saying he was "good. Marquis has been a little better, how is that not solid? If you just went by reading this board, you'd think Marquis pitches blindfolded. Im not gettin into this again Marquis has been better than I expected, but I just wish he hadnt been so horrible for those 2 months. You dont have to get into anything. Its simple. If you consider Marshall's season to be good, the same can be said for Marquis. Different standards are held for different players, espceially those making 7 million a year. I guess my problem lies in Hendry for thinking Marquis was actually worth that much money. As a number 4 starter, he is doing just fine. Now, but he wasnt in June July and August which is when all the bitching was happening. Hehe... The bitching started in December.

I guess my problem lies in Hendry for thinking Marquis was actually worth that much money. I'm not comparing money, but rather performance. Marquis doesn't decide how much he is paid. Marquis performance has been extremely adequate for a 3/4/5th starter, whatever you want to call him.

  18. Come on Marquis, lets have a quick inning and get back in the dugout.
  19. damn! Ehhh... Cubs just need to win.
  20. LaRussa views him as the leadoff in that 9 hole, with Pujols effective being the 4th hitter. Bwhahaha, just bat Ryan 1st and Pujols 4th. Nothing like taking an at bat a game away from a guy with a .371 obp. Didn't say I agreed, but rock on Tony!
  21. A-Ram gave that one the Roger Dorn treatment.

  23. Nooooo...... They took out Mulder.
  24. The 1st pitch wasnt a strike And the 2nd was a BP fastball down the middle.
