  1. ~1 month of the league minimum I believe. ~50,000 Anyone? Todd Wellemeyer made the minimum his first year up, and that amounted to a check worth $29,500 twice a month. He made $75,000 for being on the bench (not even the active roster) for the playoffs. Rough life.
  2. I have absolutely no problem with this. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to show up on time, barring emergencies.
  3. Would love to hear your reasons why. Overrated compared to the amount of attention he attracts from media types? His career numbers are very, very good. I understand being sick of the guy because of the attention he gets, but there is no denying he is a very good player.
  4. What'd he say ?? Talking about how Trachsel can be slow. But he talked in slow motion as he was describing how slow he is.
  5. I see the loudmouth who sits in the front row behind home plate with his cute flourescent pink hat is in attendence tonight.
  6. Brenly is so sarcastic sometimes, its great.
  7. I'm not discounting that there could be a health issue, but I don't think there is overwhelming evidence that there is one either. If your just going by command as an indication of his health you could have this same dsicussion the past few years.
  8. This is, once again, wrong. You are saying he's prone to bottoming out more than most pitchers, but you fail to realize over the duration of his first four seasons no starting pitcher was as consistently good as he was. Here in his fifth season he has struggled, so he's always been prone to being bad. When in fact the first four years he WAS ONE of the best in the league. You're saying his struggles are because of his attitude when he's already shown an ability to succeed for four seasons with the same attitude, so it's quite apparent that his attitude have very little to do with his 4.35 ERA. It probably has more to do with the health of his arm, his decrease in velocity this season and his struggling command which is more than likely a byproduct of his lack of arm health. Of course, we can bitch and moan and say it's his attitude, when it's really not a problem and has never been a problem. It's his arm and health or nothing at all - just bad luck. I think many would argue he has shown a lack of command his entire career, as evidenced by his walk totals, especially last year.
  9. Not pumping your fist makes you passive? You can be aggressive and have passion and still not act like an idiot occasionally. Sandberg didn't do alot of that, was he passive?
  10. The Trib doesnt have the article up yet, but I explained a little more in another post. When the article comes out Ill post it. But he doesnt think he deserves to be bood. i see that now. i was sure he was just saying he heard the fans and knew that he sucked, this just blows me away. i guess it's time to start the move to run him out of town, should be fun Right after signing? Oh God, this could really start to suck. things could get really hilariously bad pretty easily. everything will be cool if zambrano can avoid sucking for a little while, but if he has a couple more bad starts and keeps getting booed, who knows what will happen. I'd expect a Lou forced/written apology tomorrow before the game. Mentioning how he's disappointed in how he's pitched the last month, how he plans on turning things around and making the fans cheer for him. And I absolutely can not believe that Piniella didn't talk to him after that and coach him on how to deal with the media after the game. Crazy. I wouldn't rule out the possibillity that someone did talk to Z and coach him. Getting hom to cooperate could have been the issue.
  11. Again, as a buddy of mine said to me today, its a shame he still acts this way. He has over 1000 IP in the major leagues and he still acts like an immature child at times. You have to expect to hear some boos every now and then. So what, let them go in one ear and out the other. You know those same fans will be going wild for you the next time you go out and shut down an opponent. Fans are fickle, realize that, and move on.
  12. I would seriously love to know how many times in the past 3-4 years that the Cubs have had the bases loaded with nobody out and failed to score.
  13. Fixed. Don't put words in my mouth!
  14. Ill buy you premium for the next 99 years if that happens lol Holding you too that...
  15. That kid at SS for LA looks like he just came from Williamsport.
  16. Miracle comeback about to start...
  17. I think I'd rather take my chances with the Mets compared to SD or ARZ. But for that to happen the wildcard would have to come out of the Eastern division, with the Mets winning the division. And the Cubs have to actually make it, of course.
  18. Yep. Zambrano has to get his act together. Without him at his best, this will be a very short postseason. If he doesnt get straightened out I dont think there will be a post season. Obviously. But the chances of the Cubs making it with a less than stellar Zambrano are much higher than them actually doing anything in the playoffs. Its just something I have been looking at lately. The most likely 1st round opponents are either SD or AZ, assuming the Mets lock up the best record. I'm personally hoping for AZ to win the division. I don't like the CUbs chances playing SD with their lack of success against Peavy and Young this year. I dont want to face AZ either though, it really is a case of 2 evils. If I remember right, the Cubs have never won a series against AZ. Webb scares me less than Peavy & Young. Young has had some back issues lately, but I still don't like the chances of most likely facing them 4 times in a 5 game series.
  19. He's hit the ball hard a few times, I'd say its been a decent day. I'd say something about some mis-adventures in the outfield but I odn't want to start that argument again. :)
  20. My brother (a Yankee fan) is a huge fan also. He got disappointed when they let him go. I'm a Cub first and Yankee second guy, I'll tell you this: His range in the OF rivaled that of Ichiro. Yeah, Its a good thing Ichiro is Asian because I always confusing the two of them.
  21. Yeah, i might just be that. With him, you never know though. Its a shame he still acts like a spoiled child from time to time considering how long he has been in the league.

  23. I just hope Z doesn't say anything stupid to the media after the game. The way he left the mound left many things open to interpretation.
  24. Bad day for the Cubs, life goes on. Zambrano needs to break out of this funk that he is in. Even if the Cubs make the postseason, Zambrano needs to be on his game in order for them to have a chance. Your looking at most likely either SD or AZ in the 1st round. SD has Peavy and Young. AZ has Webb. The Cubs need Zambrano!
