    What exactly does a #3 pitch like? I think those arguing Marquis is not a #3 pitcher have some unrealistic expectations of what a #3 pitcher is. If you compare Marquis to the NL Central (the division in which the Cubs compete), He is actually pitching good enough to be a #2. To go down the list: Marquis 4.18 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP $4.75MM in 2007 Reds -- Arroyo 5-12 4.51 ERA 1.43 WHIP $4.5MM this year 2yr/$25MM extension :shock: Compared to Arroyo, Marquis is the bargain of the century. Astros -- Jennings 2 - 7 6.15 ERA 1.53 WHIP $5.5MM Again Marquis is a relative Bargain. Cardinals (Take your pick) Wells 5.27 ERA 1.56 WHIP $4MM Looper 5.25 ERA 1.41 WHIP $4.5MM Wainwright 4.21 1.47 WHIP $400K Pirates Armas (to start the year?) 6.31 ERA 1.62 WHIP Brewers Suppan 4.84 ERA 1.52 WHIP $6.2MM Capuano 4.96 ERA 1.49 WHIP $3.2MM Although I hate to admit I may have been wrong about the Marquis signing, it looks like Hendry got himself quite the bargain for this year atleast. Stop trying to prove your argument with those things called "stats". 8-)

    As terrible as they have been playing it is still shocking to me that a win tonight would put them in a tie for first.

    Not surprisng. Lou has given him many days off because of the knee problem. It hurts when he's not out there, but it would hurt a lot more were he to be injured again.

    Oh it's the old "if you couldn't hit Lidge yourself then you can't complain" argument. it sucked the first 93 times when oldcubsfan did it. No, thats not it at all. I think there is a line between being critical, and being obnoxious. Being critical is fine, insulting is childish. thats all.

    Floyd looked bad on that at bat, but reading some of these responses is hilarious. Would love to either see people tell these things to Floyd's face or actually step in against lidge. Is funny though.

    Are people that desperate to complement him that he gets credit for catching a line drive hit right at him? Western Springs, IL is going to kick New Albany's butt on Wednesday night on their way to Williamsport. Hehehe.... my nephew is actually on that team.

    I think Soriano just stepped on his rod rounding 2nd. He'll get it stiched up and be back out there tomorrow night.

    He was saying this at the beginning of the broadcast as well. Morgan said, "Castillo is used to being in pennant races being with the Twins his whole carer."

    we really can't say it was the "same thing" yet though. a strain? if that's even true, it's very vague. We'll see. Wait for the Cubs to tell us how long he'll be out, add a couple days, and we'll move on. Correct. You can guarantee they will give him an MRI to see the extent of the strain. You won't know a whole lot for certain until that is done.

    No doubt a serious one, judging by the reaction. That's got to be a preventable injury. Our training staff is terrible, has been forever. Seriously? That could happen to anyone at any time.

    Ron sounds very pessimistic. but he's also right that "that could mean anything" I like Ron, but I wouldn't put much stock into his medical opinions.

    I know why you are saying that, but I believe it's dead wrong. I believe we would have needed Sori to go on a prolonged hot streak to get to the playoffs anyway. If he's out, that has no chance of happening. Murton's not going to get more play time, if that's what you are thinking. Lou hates Murton, it's pretty clear. Playing Murton, if Soriano out, isn't going to do much to replace him. This team needs some power, Murton isn't really going to provide that.
