  1. Good for him. As long as he doesn't propel them to the pennant or anything.
  2. As terrible as they have been playing it is still shocking to me that a win tonight would put them in a tie for first.
  3. Not surprisng. Lou has given him many days off because of the knee problem. It hurts when he's not out there, but it would hurt a lot more were he to be injured again.
  4. The career stats of Eric Byrnes and Jacque Jones are neraly identical. Byrnes: .268/.329/457 Jones: .278/.327/.454
  5. Oh it's the old "if you couldn't hit Lidge yourself then you can't complain" argument. it sucked the first 93 times when oldcubsfan did it. No, thats not it at all. I think there is a line between being critical, and being obnoxious. Being critical is fine, insulting is childish. thats all.
  6. Floyd looked bad on that at bat, but reading some of these responses is hilarious. Would love to either see people tell these things to Floyd's face or actually step in against lidge. Is funny though.
  7. Are people that desperate to complement him that he gets credit for catching a line drive hit right at him? Western Springs, IL is going to kick New Albany's butt on Wednesday night on their way to Williamsport. Hehehe.... my nephew is actually on that team.
  8. will we know something by tomorrow? Probably. If he's getting an MRI I don't know why they would wait.
  9. Another other word on Soriano? I imagine he will probably get an MRI done.
  10. Are people that desperate to complement him that he gets credit for catching a line drive hit right at him?
  11. I think Soriano just stepped on his rod rounding 2nd. He'll get it stiched up and be back out there tomorrow night.
  12. He was saying this at the beginning of the broadcast as well. Morgan said, "Castillo is used to being in pennant races being with the Twins his whole carer."
  13. we really can't say it was the "same thing" yet though. a strain? if that's even true, it's very vague. We'll see. Wait for the Cubs to tell us how long he'll be out, add a couple days, and we'll move on. Correct. You can guarantee they will give him an MRI to see the extent of the strain. You won't know a whole lot for certain until that is done.
  14. No doubt a serious one, judging by the reaction. That's got to be a preventable injury. Our training staff is terrible, has been forever. Seriously? That could happen to anyone at any time.
  15. Ron sounds very pessimistic. but he's also right that "that could mean anything" I like Ron, but I wouldn't put much stock into his medical opinions.
  16. I know why you are saying that, but I believe it's dead wrong. I believe we would have needed Sori to go on a prolonged hot streak to get to the playoffs anyway. If he's out, that has no chance of happening. Murton's not going to get more play time, if that's what you are thinking. Lou hates Murton, it's pretty clear. Playing Murton, if Soriano out, isn't going to do much to replace him. This team needs some power, Murton isn't really going to provide that.
  17. That doesn't surprise you does it? Not really.
  18. Dbacks have claimed and acquired, Joe Kennedy, B.K. Kim, and Jeff Cirillo in the past day and a half.
  19. I like Alou, but I'm glad he struck out. That was a pretty good pitch by Marquis.
  20. According to good ole Joe. Castillo has played his whole career for the Twins.
  21. Marquis needs to get off to a quick start here.
  22. I thought we would at least make it until October until another Dunn thread popped up.. :)
  23. No thanks, I'd take Marquis. Guzman will never approach what Marquis has done. Marquis is at least extremely durable, and as TT pointed out, during the winter the Cubs needed someone with some durability. We can debate the contract all day long, but whats done is done. They needed someone in that #5 starter spot who could give them innings. Guzman could not have done that.
