  1. It just might stop someone from running though if they know Rowand will play every ball like that. Are you wearing your "fundamentals suck" shirt tonight?
  2. I'd would have rather seen a first pitch rbi single. :)
  3. and how many times did he hit to the right side of the infield to advance the runner? Answer - a lot Thats not cool or glamorous though. Ryno never cared about his personal stats, being cool or on camera - he just wanted to win. what people who make these kinds of statements fail to grasp is that personal stats help teams win. I don't think that is true at all. I think the point he is trying to make is that in certain cases players like that forgoe the personal stats by laying down a bunt or trying to go the other way with the ball depending on the situation. and ryno didn't do either of those things very often. and you can save your energy by not typing about how ryno used to move the runner over because i know that's what you're going to say. No, it really wasn't Miss Cleo. :D Its not my argument, just thought I'd convey what I thought he was trying to say.

Let loose with it. Of course they do. Like right noe, DeRosa is down in the count, if he grounds out to 2nd base that will help Murton get his "personal stats" and a greater chance of scoring Lee. Well, he just struck out, lol.
  5. Looks like the Buccos will be raising the jolly roger after the game if you know what i mean.

  7. Brenly is right, for whatever reason Howard has not been able to catch up with fastballs this series.

  9. I bet Digger Phelps is in the house tonight.
  10. yeah, studies have shown that dumb pitchers are more prone to wild pitches. Watch him in person. He gets flustered, alot. I don't hate the guy, but showed tons of negative body language Friday night in Cincy. Pacing around the mound, shrugging his shoulders, putting his head down. It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence, more like composure. If Friday is a "bad" outing, then I'm not going to complain about Hill's composure or how he goes about his job on the mound. Did I say it was a bad outing? It was just a comment on his mannerisms. Things fall apart for him very quickly. That's a matter of opinion. If there's a strong defensive catcher Hill might not have given up any runs that inning. As it stood he only gave up one, is that falling apart? How do you know that it's linked to his mannerisms? People are different, Hill may show outward displays of frustration in order for him to get over it and focus entirely on the next play. It is an assumption on my part. But it is an assumption based on what has been said/written of him in the past. Things like him having the tools but also needing the mental aspect in tune as well. Didn;t Rothschild make him read a whole book about the mental side of pitching?
  11. However long it took Brenly to sign 10,000 photos it certainly wasn't worth the time to do so.

  13. Len has a lot of premature excitedness when it comes to fly balls to the outfield.
  14. Its amazing to watch Moyer still be able to pitch at this level.

  16. Too good to be true. Rich Hill is a not a mental giant out there.
  17. Joe Morgan everybody. I'll tell you what. Pick any four pitchers who pitched in the majors for 5 or more years. I look up the game logs for the runs/game and errors/game and compare them to the data for the days when the pitcher didn't pitch. I'll run some simple descriptive and inferential statistics and see if there is a corelation between runs/scored and errors/game. If I find that there are no data that support your conclusion you ban yourself from every posting on here. If there is a corelation I will seek your forgivness and never darken the door of NSBB again. Deal? Fortunately for him, even if there is correlation he's not wrong. What you would be doing wouldn't even be relevant. It wouldn't prove anything .... just that when there are more errors there are more runs scored. He didn't say anything against that. No. He said that a pitcher who pitches slow and throws a lot of ball (i.e., nibbler) a) has fewer runs scored per game for him and b) has more errors (on his team) when he pitches compared to other pitchers on his team. But thanks for irrelevent commentary. Everything allright? :)
  18. Ok...Don't let up now. Huge momentum boost if he can get Burrell. Don't ease up here.
  19. He's been leaving pitches up in the zone with great frequency lately. Wonderful, implosion in progress.
  20. Sosa was given the option of taking his release today and he declined. The Rangers don't want him and apparently neither does anybody else.
