Gonna do my best (or worst) B2B impression: Cubs get: Pollack Teheran DBacks get: Shelby Miller Baez Arodys Vizcaino Braves get: Soler Chris Owings Underwood McKinney Who says no?
Just spitballing here (or maybe skyballing), but with the talk of the Indians trading a starter, what would be the price tag on Kluber? He's a year older than Carrasco and more expensive but still has a pretty reasonable contract and his peripherals were solid again this year.
Angels last year gave 169 plate appearances to Taylor Featherston. All he did was OPS .459. Clearly not content with that, the Angels just signed Cliff Pennington two years and $3.75 million. He OPS'd .578 last year in 210 at bats. I guess that's technically an upgrade? Angels are really going for the all glove, no hit middle infield this year.
Don't we have enough middle infield and pitching depth that we don't need to collect guys from the Dodgers and turn them into pitchers? HA so Justin Turner had a great year and Jacob Turner not so much.
Samardzija got pummeled for 10 runs tonight. He now has a 5.27 ERA overall and a 7.48 ERA since the AS break. Yeah, I think he'll be getting that big contract.
Wow, really like this move. He's also OPSing .774 since the AS Break, as opposed to .649 before it. Plays good defense too. Pleasantly surprised we were able to get him for a non-prospect we wouldn't keep anyway, assuming it's a Rule 5 guy.
Since going to the DBacks: 40 games, 10 HR, .966 OPS, 1.5 bWAR. Happy for him that he's found a place there. Meanwhile, Mark Trumbo has been total ass for the Mariners.
Do get a decent reliever for a spare part and solidify the 5th spot in the rotation for a couple guys we might've lost in the Rule 5 draft anyway. Certainly not sexy moves and a bummer we didn't do anything big but hard to be too disappointed. Got some help without really giving up anything.
