  1. That was rumored last year IIRC. What are Heilman's numbers this year? Might not be bad, and we do have plenty of 2B to replace Walker
  2. None of you can top this: 12 HRs 14 comebackers I gave the pitcher a hurting. Too bad it wasnt AJP tossing batting practice.
  3. Should Glendon even be a part of this team with his terrible stats and beer belly and all?
  4. Way to go EPatt! The only part of that line that scares me is the .481 obp with a .480 avg. granted, its only one week. What is his line for the season? I could go check BA's stat page but I'm lazy.
  5. Excellent. ARam for David Wright is a sure thing then, eh? Sold!
  6. Jim Duquette made the deal. He's now with Baltimore. Well does Baltimore have any good prospects we could trade for? They have that Patterson kid in CF. I hear he has potential. What would it take to get him? How 'bout that Nate Spears kid we have down in the minors?
  7. Hey, you never know. Everyone thought Zazmir was untouchable and they pretty much gave him away. Minaya's in charge now. I doubt we'll see a repeat. Really? I could have sworn that Minaya made that trade. I guess I'm mistaken...
  8. maybe MacPhail again
  9. Hey, you never know. Everyone thought Kazmir was untouchable and they pretty much gave him away.
  10. Strange how that always happens. That's what happened a week or two ago. I was watching the Yankee-Sox game on ESPN and they switched over to Cubs-Atros game where Z had a no no going and he gave up a hit a few batters afterword.
  11. Ha, I've actually done the first one (run a mile with ingrown toenail). It wasn't fun, I'll say that much.
  12. Your heart is in the right place, but you might wanna cut back on the cusses. The mods are gonnaa be all over this one.
  13. no, he's the Yankees' third base coach.
  14. Not sure where this should belong so mods can move it, but I just had an idea. What would you guys say to Larry Bowa as manager. I think he'd be perfect for this team. Hard nosed, tough, and strong on fundamentals. I'm watching the yankee game and there was a little bit of a mishap on the field and who's yelling at the players as they come in? Not Joe Torre, it was Bowa.
  15. It's just an idea, not a rumor or anything, I'm just contemplating a few things here. Wut would it take to get Bobby Keilty from the A's? He's a versatile player who can playe all 3 outfield postions well and has played some 1B. He also had a career OBP 100 pts over his career BA (. 354-.254). His career line as a PH isn't too shabby either (.304/.365/.482/.847). Oakland's OF is kind of crowded, and I'd much rather see Keilty pinch hit for us over Neifi or Bynum, and our outfield isnt exactly what you would call stellar anyway. Thoughts, opinions? Is this just a bunch of nonsense?
  16. From BA's draft day blog: Cubs Nab Golden Domer 4:06 p.m.: The Cubs, as expected, took Jeff Samardzija in the fifth round with their second pick. The Notre Dame righthander and All-America wide receiver intends to play both sports, which scared off teams enough to help him drop to the Cubs. The Cubs might spend first-round money on Samardzija in what's sure to be a back-loaded deal that allows him to play football this fall, a commitment Samardzija has made repeatedly. Samardzija has first-round talent with a fastball up to 94 mph and a developing slider that has shown improvement this spring as his season progressed and he got deeper into baseball season. The Cubs have a strong relationship with Notre Dame, as both scouting director Tim Wilken and especially GM Jim Hendry are longtime friends of Irish coach Paul Mainieri. -- John Manuel
  17. Dwaine Bacon was traded in the offseason for a PTBNL or cash. Oh yeah, I forgot about that
  18. I beg to differ actually. In 2001, we drafted Sisco, Nolasco and Harris. All 3 were top prospects of ours until we traded Harris and Nolasco and lost Sisco in the Rule 5 draft. Ryan Theriot was just on the big league club, and is having a fine season. Dwaine Bacon, among others are still in the system, and according to this, we drafted Khalil Greene, current SS for the Padres. In 2002, I'd say it was an ok draft. Granted, Brownlie hasnt fulfilled his potential and Hagerty's been hurt. However, we also drafted Dope, Petrick, Hill, and Craig, all of whom could make it to the majors, and we drafted Jones, who had tons of potential but we traded him away. Some names I recognize later on include Spearman, Medlin, Hood, Atlee, and Bear Bay (another we shouldnt have traded) I think we need to wait a few years before we assess these drafts and label them "good" or "bad".
  19. Edgardo Alfonzo. It's only a matter of time. Played for Dusty in San Fran IIRC. AND he's old. Therefore, yes, it is only a matter of time.
  20. Whatever happened to Mark Reed? If I remember correctly, he was highly regarded after we drafted and after his debut? What are his numbers on the season?
  21. Just a thought. We're believing a rumor from the ESPN boards? Psh, we should be taking this with a grain of salt. As for the "possible" deal, Williamson is cheap, and has been productive in the past. I say give him time. Hinske wouldn't contribute a whole lot and there are better options out there. And if we wanted Hinske, why did we trade him for Scott Chiasson back in 2001?
  22. but restovich isnt on the 40 man roster
  23. Yes, in fact there was an article on him in Sports Illustrated in the SI Players section lst year. It was about how he likes to joke around and would like to be a stand up comedian. A member on the board once had the pic from that article in their profile for awhile.
