Any chance that the PTBNL is Kevin Mench  ? WE'll most likely get some middle of the road prospect, if that. I wish the Iceman luck down in Texas.
I think what will tell us all is what he can do at AAA. If he puts up impressive numbers, he would get the chance to prove how good he is at the major league level. I think we should see what he does over the next season or 2 before we start sayin how overrated he is. LIKE BbB said, he's only 20. He's got a lot of time left.
OIh, of course they will. Jaret Wright anyone? The Yankees, or Steinbrenner I should say, have a problem spending big money on guys who were good the year before and horrible previous to that. Wright, Womack, Pavano, etc.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=whitesoxbullinger&prov=st&type=lgns He was signed to a minor league contract by the White Sox. Good to see him trying to comeback. He used to be a descent pitcher for a few years for us.
You guys can't top these 2 which I made before this season started: 1. I traded Tony Womack for Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman has been an asset while Womack has been one of the worst players in baseball this year. 2. I traded Aubrey Huff and Tim Hudson for Carlos Delgado, Matt Clement, and Brian Roberts. Huff has struggled and Hudson's been hurt. Delgado has hit descently this year. Clement was an all star and has been good up until his previous few starts. Roberts...need i say more?
uhh ohhh Will Carroll was speculating a Bigbie for Matt Lawton swap earlier in the day. Oh please, please, please, let that be true. You said it. JH getting Bigbie to be our LF is completely pointless. His numbers this years are below par and his career numbers in avg/ obp/ slg are almost parallel to Holla's.
I've liked DeJesus since the Royals called him up last year and started hitting, but we won't be able to acquire him. He's one of the Royals best young talents and they coonsidered him to be the heir apparant to Beltran. No way the trade him unless the get an equally talented youngster in return. They'd probably want Pie, Murton, or Harvey for DeJesus.
Per Rotoworld: Eric Byrnes - OF - Rockies The Orioles decided to back out of a potential trade that would have sent Larry Bigbie to the Rockies for Eric Byrnes, TSN's Ken Rosenthal reports. We're not sure who could have won that exchange of should-be fourth outfielders. Byrnes is the better player, but he's already making $2.2 million and could get $3 million or so next year. Bigbie may soon be shipped to another team, with the Pirates, Marlins and Cubs among the possibilities. Jul. 29 - 5:35
True, he would be an upgrade over Macias. Johnson can play first, third, and I believe the outfield as well. Although, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't he playing at Iowa last year or the year before?
Ok, how bout a cheap bullpen idea, Jamie Walker. He has done very well for the Tigers the past few years and here are his ERA/ Whip/ BBA from this year in 29.1 IP: 1.84/ 1.06/ .218 . Not too shabby. If I'm not mistaken, he's only making $ 700,000 this year. Anyone like this idea, or is another one of my trade ideas gonna get shot down again?
I don't know, we'll have to wait to see if he can pitch or not to know for sure. I wonder how many other position players, who pitched at least 1 inning, retired with an ERA of 0.00 ? I believe in one of Brenly's MANY Diamondbacks stories, he said he had Grace pitch an inning in a blowout and I'm pretty sure he didn't allow any runs. I do remember Grace pitching an inning, but I'm not sure if he gave up any runs.
I agree. he will see his RBI numbers increase as Dusty finally realized guys with OBPs lower than their weight should not bat in the top 2 spots in the order. PS- Welcome to the forum!
