  1. I don't like him, but way to turn it around. He went from being this close to being done but he found a way back.
  2. Stewart's always been a good hitter, but he has no power. Sounds like some of the guys on this team already.
  3. Huh? *points to previous post* And regarding, Sam, congrats to him. I remember when we drafted him. Twice
  4. He's a FA at season's end. I wouldn't give them the keys to our farm system even if we could re-sign him. Even if he wasn't a FA at season's end, why would you? I wouldn't.
  5. *kicked while on the ground* Though, he has barely played since he joined them and Kendall has been doing alright at the plate (at least better than Hill/Bowen).
  6. He's a FA at season's end. I wouldn't give them the keys to our farm system even if we could re-sign him.
  7. Awesome. And that is probably how it works. Nice, but it's no "Dusty's Dugout Dice" Of course. Nothing tops Dusty's dice
  8. He's hitting well, but he can never slide or do anything that would cause him to leave his feet, as he'll probably break his back or something. Shouldn't have been signed in the first place.
  9. Power numbers have been down around the whole league too.
  10. I bet the combined distance of those 4 homers was 1600-1700 feet. The guy absolutely crushed the ones I saw. One additional quick thought, and I know this is completely wishful lightning in a bottle thinking, but this reminds me a little of Gary Gaetti in '98. The Cubs picked him up off the scrap heap in mid-August (I think he was DFA'd by the Cardinals), and he proceeds to put up about a 1000 OPS for the rest of the year. 320/.397/.594/.991 Close enough
  11. He was the main part of the propsed Jermain Dye deal at the dealine, but it fell apart. Hes been horrible this season, however, when with Cincy, he was a notorious Cub killer, and basically homered every time he stepped foot in Wrigley. .304/.407/.652/1.060 <--- Pena's career line at Wrigley. That goes with 4 homers and 9 RBIs.
  12. Having a good season but nothing else he has done warrants this contract. Gary Matthews Jr. Part Deux
  13. As nice as it would be to have Dunn, I am not holding out hope. I'll believe it when I see it.
  14. Brower is average at best, and is 34. Why the heck would they call him up over one of their top pitching prospects, who is ready to contribute in the majors? Their pen isn't good and just got worse.
  15. Update, Cubs one of the teams he's considering signing with:
  16. Heard that and shook my head. Morgan is rubbing off on Miller and it was very apparant tonight.
  17. Maybe this should be merged with the Morgan thread in Rants. Nevertheless, Morgan is an idiot.
  18. I'd like to see what he could do here in Chicago, granted that the Phils pick up a bit of his salary. My roommate is from Philly and says Burrell is not liked down there.
  19. Since you're here, I was wondering if you could let us know if Hendry has been in at all on Wily Mo Pena or Bobby Kielty. They seem like the kind of guys Hendry would acquire to help out in right, and I'd heard rumors at least of a deal falling through for Pena going to an unnamed team I thought could have been us. I hadn't heard that such a deal fell through. Hendry and Co. no doubt are looking at both. Thanks for the info Bruce!
  20. The Reds are out of it. By trading Dunn, they are waving the white flag anyways. What do they care? What if Dunn gets hurt in those few games he is playing against the Cubs and the Reds lose out on a package of prospects because they didn't want him to hurt them right away. That makes plenty of sense. Of course, Krivsky isn't known for being too bright.
  21. I'd rather keep Jones than accept that trade.
