Sort of an odd trade. The Angels really didn't need pitching and the White Sox, while they need offense, re-signed their starting shortstop already.

Yea, it was in the NY newspapers today. They broke off talks and Torrealba's agent is talking with other teams and the Mets are possibly putting together an offer for Lo Duca.

He's capable of better. I don't expect anything great, but he could put up an OBP around .320-.340, especially if he gets away from PETCO and hits for average.

I seem to recall a few years ago Choi doing well in his winter league. I seem to recall a few years ago Choi doing well in the major leagues. I seem to recall a few years ago that one time at band camp.

I'm starting to think that Hendry doesn't know how to read stats. He just goes by who's better known. Hence, Kaz Matsui over Theriot and Cedeno.

I don't really expect Matsui to be a regular starter. He doesn't have a place to play. 2B. DeRosa will be utility. Are you ready for a Matsui/ Theriot DP combo?

Here is our winner. Jenkins is seen as an absolute last resort and as a platoon player. The Cubs' No. 1 target is Fukudome. He has yet to say he's coming to North America. That's a huge, huge decision in Japan. On Crawford, the (Devil) Rays don't need to trade him. He has a favorable contract, and they, like all teams, could use a left-handed hitter. They'd have to be blown away by an offer, and the Cubs aren't going to blow them away. This stuff about Hill and Marmol and another guy for Crawford is nonsense. My guess is that once Fukudome says he wants to come over here, the Cubs will go hard after him. That doesn't mean they'll get him, but they're prepared to make a good offer. I look for the payroll to be about $115 million, by the way. Thanks for the update Bruce. What kind of offer would you see the Cubs making to Fukudome, and who do you see as the most likely fall back option?
