  1. I'm pretty OK with this deal, considering he'd probably command more than that on the open market. Fairly reasonable contract.
  2. No to the first one, unless the Rangers add something else to it. Yes to the second. Getting rid of Silva and Grabow would be nice. And I feel like the Rangers would be way more inclined to do the second one.
  3. I was hoping no more than 7 a year. I guess it's not horrible. I just hate giving three-year contracts to relievers.
  4. Joel Sherman: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/more_sports/pujols_pact_tops_hardball_T31EbHHF19ksfIryzjcQRM
  5. I know we'll probably have another disappointing year, but I still get excited for baseball to be back.
  6. I wish they dealt him already, in a package for a good player. His name and potential probably still carry weight, but his stock has fallen.
  7. Seems about right on that last bit. Boston-Philly World Series seems pretty likely. I can see the Cubs finishing at least third. Lot of things can happen and I think the Central is pretty close between Cubs, Cards, Reds and Brewers. There's no way the Astros or Pirates finish better than us.
  8. If they stay healthy, they will score some runs. The key to the Orioles doing anything (by anything I mean maybe .500 and 3rd place finish in AL East) is the starting rotation. They actually have a bunch of talent there too, but Matusz, Arrieta, Tillman, and Zach Britton have to mature in a hurry. Agreed. They have some really good young pitchers, but I don't know if they're all there yet. I also liked their low-risk, high-reward signing of Duchscherer. I wish we had picked him up.
  9. The Orioles quietly have a pretty solid lineup now: Brian Roberts Nick Markakis Vlad Mark Reynolds Luke Scott DLee Adam Jones Matt Wieters JJ Hardy
  10. Maybe. If the Rangers kick in that much money, might be hard to say no. Would the difference between DeWitt and Young make up for Colvin getting 500 at bats? I feel like a DeWitt/Baker platoon at second would be more valuable in case Colvin slumps badly as a regular. Then again, the front office loves Colvin so much, I could see this happening as a way to give him all the starts.
  11. Yeah, but Milledge has had some success in the majors. Harvey hasn't even touched AAA has he?
  12. Pettitte was a really good pitcher and, by all accounts, a good guy and a good teammate. But he's definitely not a Hall of Famer, and it's nice to see most writers/news outlets agreeing with that sentiment instead of bowing down to another Yankee "great."
  13. I like Newton a lot. At this point, if the Titans take a first round QB, I want it to be Newton or Gabbert. Both due to their upside. And I'm actually a really big fan of Devlin. Stanzi is probably a decent starter as his ceiling, but I see Devlin as a guy with quite a bit of upside. He could be a better version of Joe Flacco. Kaepernick has the highest upside of any QB in the draft, though, I think. Kid has an absolute cannon of an arm and he's probably pretty competitive athletically with Newton. Agreed, I'd be thrilled if the Titans or Vikings took Kapernick. I like what I've seen from him. I wouldn't mind Gabbert either. But I feel like he'll be gone early. So I'm just hoping we don't jump all over the Cam Newton hype train.
  14. Not where they currently are. What about trading down and taking Locker, though? Might feel more comfortable if they could take him lower. The interest level in Locker will probably depend on the new coaching staff. I was hearing Fisher and his scouts were high on Locker, but if Munchak is the new coach, I don't know if he's as high on Locker. With each passing day I'm warming up more and more to the idea of filling a defensive need with the 8th pick and taking Devlin/Stanzi/Dalton/Kaepernick in the second round. Feel the same about the Titans as the Vikings. Not high on Locker or Newton. Keep forgetting Stanzi and Devlin. They don't have very high upside, but I can see them being very capable starters for awhile.
  15. Locker's accuracy scares the crap outta me. The Vikings thought they had a good leader at QB this year. A lot of good that did. I'd much prefer Kapernick. Rumors are they want Vince Young short term and draft a QB. If they are deadset on that, I'd prefer that scenario. Just not too high on Locker. Or Newton for that matter.
  16. Yes, that career minor league OPS of .708 is getting the job done. Theriot had some bad minor league numbers and he managed a few decent big league season. He's still not a good player but he played better in the big leagues. Not saying Barney will follow suit but can't rule it out.
  17. Looper can earn $3 million this year if he makes the roster and stays there all season. Seems pretty unlikely but who knows.
  18. Auggie Doggie. Does this mean Don Baylor is back in the organization? I can't see any other reason why we signed his favorite bench player.
  19. So in the end, the Blue Jays turned Wells into Rivera, Francisco and cash considerations. Still a pretty solid deal.
  20. Dumb. They'll probably be better than Barney, but I'd be worried about them getting too many at bats. If Cabrera wants to sign for a mil, get only about 100-150 at bats and mentor Castro in the field, I wouldn't mind that much at all. But I feel like that's just wishful thinking.
  21. That was quick. Playing in Arlington, Napoli might hit 30 this year.
  22. I'm assuming (hoping) this is nothing more than organizational depth and he'll likely be at AAA in case of injury.
