  1. Ugh, I just noticed this thread. It hasn't been a fun week for Penn Staters.
  2. And sadly Carroll is an upgrade over what they marched out there last year.
  3. http://tampabay.sbnation.com/florida-marlins/2011/11/11/2554718/miami-marlins-new-uniforms-leaked-images Officially unveiled in an hour.
  4. There's a vesting option that could push it to 60. So, to recap, the Phillies gave a four year, upwards of $60 million contract to a 30 year old reliever AND surrender their first round pick. Good. God.
  5. I like the sound of that. I don't think he's giving them that big a discount. That's still a lot of money, but he's gonna get a way better offer from someone else.
  6. I think I'd agree with that. Sure, Loney has a decent glove. But that is almost negated by the fact he's a below aberage first basemen offensively. I don't think he's gonna post an OPS above .800 again.
  7. They're the Yankees. No way they go into next year with CC, Nova and hope for the best from Burnett and minor leaguers/minor pickups like Garcia and Colon. It was their downfall last year. They're gonna go guns blazing (joke intended) for Wilson. If that fails, like it did last year with Lee, I could see them trading for an ace.
  8. Royals need pitching; Giants need an outfielder who is under 35 and doesn't totally suck. Looks like this one could work out for both teams.
  9. He's fairly consistent, has decent power and walks a lot. But he'll require a pick, will likely want a three-year deal, isn't getting any younger and some other team will overpay for him.
  10. I hated him as a GM but he does seem like a really nice guy. I can't imagine he'll be out of a job much longer.
  11. Gordon had a decent season in the field, but Brett Gardner was arguably the best defensive player in the league. Had a 3.2 dWAR, which led all of baseball, and also led the league in total zone runs. And Ethier is a terrible fielder; boggles my mind he won it. This award really is a sham. They should just stop giving it out.
  12. I think Wood probably will be, though. He said he'd rather retire than go elsewhere, and I'm sure Theo would be happy to take him at such a low cost. Then again, Wood might decide he'd rather retire than play for a really low amount again, so we'll see. Yeah I think there's a pretty good chance he stays put. I could see him signing a 2 year deal, maybe for like 7 mil, and then calling it a career and hanging with the organization in some other capacity.
  13. @JohnKreger John Kreger Creditable sources inform me that #Braves P Derek Lowe is being informed as we speak that he has been traded to the #Indians First trade of the offseason?
  14. I was just about to comment on that haha
  15. you just woke up Modzilla
  16. Comcast got their ish together. Audio is better.
  17. If just a few things break the right away, it's not that farfetched that we contend next season. Fewer injuries, some smarter free agent signings, add some more depth and I think we could make a run at the division next year. Granted, 2013 does seem more likely, but I don't see us finishing 20 games under .500 again.
  18. I haven't commented much on this, but damnit all I'm excited. The future is bright for a change. I love this supergroup of awesome we have going on in the front office right now.
  19. Yeah, Javier Baez would be a great trade target for the Red Sox... if he were eligible to be traded yet. Derp. Looking at that list, while I don't think we should have to, I'd be willing send them any two of Castillo, Rusin, Coleman, Gonzalez, Watkins, Dolis, Cerda, Simpson, and J. Jackson. Maybe Flaherty or LeMahieu. Very torn on Rhee, Ha, Vitters, and Golden. Definite nos on Brett, Szczur, Wells, and McNutt. Just based on Boston's needs, I'd think Castillo, Watkins and Dolis would be an enticing package, along with some cash. All MLB ready and they have questions in the pen, at SS and behind the plate.
  20. One of my friends is a Sox fan and he thinks Theo would just go back to business as usual with little backlash should this fall through. He claims we have everything to lose because we've already claimed Theo is our savior and we can't afford to lose out on him. He reads SoSH fairly regularly so that's no surprise he shares their opinions. I just find it interesting how each fanbase views the other team's stance right now.
