  1. Rookie of the Year is announced tonight, right? Not a huge fan of the "finalist" thing. Also still holding out the slightest hope that we get two N.J. ROY (Trout and Frazier).
  2. More proof that if you have a young son, teach him to pitch left-handed.
  3. Kyler Burke was re-signed. I can't believe he's still just 24. Feels like he's been around forever.
  4. This was posted last night. I mean, he's a dime a dozen reliever. I'd be fine with a one year deal worth $1 mill or so but that's about it.
  5. Gotta go all out. This is going to be a fun offseason, watching the Dodgers buy everything in sight.
  6. Figured we could use another of these this offseason. Quick stay for Aviles.
  7. I don't feel likereading/don't have time to read through every page. How come this deal fell apart? Couldn't agree on money changing hands? Didn't like Haren's medical records?
  8. Decent move. He has potential and is better use of a spot than others. Could be a useful option out of the pen.
  9. Awful articles like this make me wish FJM was still around. (And also does not make me wonder why Jim Bowden is no longer a GM) http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/post/_/id/5207/time-to-blow-up-the-yankees
  10. Accidentally put this in the wrong forum because I'm an idiot. Not sure how I'd feel about a Sori-ARod swap. I can't imagine the Yanks would eat his whole contract to facilitate a trade, especially when the Dodgers or Marlins might not require it. I could definitely see him going to one of those places. Someone suggested Heath Bell and Mark Buerhle as possible trade candidates in that deal.
  11. Well if it was up to us it would be a landslide. I think it should go to Trout but as others have said, I can't see any way it doesn't go to Miggy. It's not like he's undeserving though.
  12. John Jaso leads the Mariners in batting average, OBP, SLG and OPS. And they've given Miguel Olivo more at bats than him.
  13. The Astros traded their cleanup hitter Ben Francisco (yup that was a thing) to the Rays.
  14. Recker is actually younger than Lalli. Plus, his middle name is "Vito". Oh, for some reason I thought Lalli was like 25, 26. No matter, still a whatever deal.
  15. Reds catcher Ryan Hanigan has a .382 obp. He has batted above the 8th spot in the order a grand total of four times this season.
  16. Recker has better minor league numbers but is a few years older. I don't get the point of the deal. Better depth in case Castillo or Clevenger get hurt?
  17. I think we had a thread similar to this but anyway... First Cubs game was this one. We got owned by Glendon Rusch. I was like 13 and had only been to a few MLB games but I could tell how dumpy Shea was. Also really noisy due to proximity to the airport. And there were really annoying elderly Mets fans behind us. I remember vividly one lady kept referring to Desi Relaford as "my Desi" the whole game http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN200107040.shtml First baseball game was a Yankees game when I was too young to remember anything. I do know the giveaway that game was a wooden bat, because we still have it. And I'm not talking a mini bat...it was a full size one. Could you imagine the fuss people would make these days?
  18. The Cubs have claimed right-hander Miguel Socolovich off of waivers from the Orioles, Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com reports (on Twitter). The Cubs designated catcher Blake Lalli for assignment to create roster space for Socolovich, who they optioned to Triple-A. Bad in a cup of coffee this year but good numbers in AAA. Org. filler/possible middle relief guy next year.
  19. Characters from Tim Burton films are automatically disqualified.
  20. jamey carroll says what's up
  21. stop being a jerk, keith He's having a fine season and is a solid fielder, but he probably shouldn't be a starter for more than a few years.
  22. do we even have much in the way of youth to promote? I guess Campana, but I think we pretty much know what we have in him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don't people here still love Dave Sappelt?
  23. Well this is exciting. We still suck but the rest of the year should be way more fun.
  24. Decent backup for a few years. I wish him well, especially if it nets us better players.
