  1. Barney finally puts up a .700 OPS Hairston hits 25 homers Soriano falls back to earth, but Amaro gets desperate and sends us a few prospects for him at the deadline And... Tony Campana manages a .299 OBP but steals 38 bases and the idiots call for Theo's head.
  2. Cashman basically said they're not trading for Soriano and will go with in-house options. I'd rather have Sori now anyway. If we're doing poorly at the deadline and he's playing well enough, deal him then. I honestly don't think we'd get a good enough return for him now anyway.
  3. Wow, we got actual, living, breathing prospects, let alone ones with potential, for Tony Campana? This is wonderful, even if neither guy amounts to anything.
  4. Someone should tell Mr. Heyman that Milton Bradley likely won't be available this season. In all seriousness, they could be an interesting trade parner for us. Marmol and depending on how much they're willing to give up, Soriano or DeJesus. They need outfield and bullpen help. Their starting OF as of now is Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter. Not sure what they'd offer though. The Marcum signing is a nice addition for them.
  5. That's crazy to me. He had 48 extra base hits in 398 PA's. It's hard to imagine that doesn't come out to much of an upgrade? I'm guessing that takes defense into account and Hairston can be a butcher at times. That said, I think this is a pretty nice deal. Nothing earth-shattering but gives us some options and another power bat.
  6. So in this scenario, the O's are giving up ONLY Hardy and getting Garza in return? And the Tigers are getting hosed. Replace Rondon with a good O's prospect and that's more realistic.
  7. And..... interesting: 1. Javier Baez, ss 2. Albert Almora, of 3. Jorge Soler, of 4. Arodys Vizcaino, rhp 5. Brett Jackson, of 6. Pierce Johnson, rhp 7. Dan Vogelbach, 1b 8. Jeimer Candelario, 3b 9. Kyuji Fujikawa, rhp 10. Arismendy Alcantara, ss http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/rankings/organization-top-10-prospects/2013/2614527.html Fujikawa included in the top 10.
  8. I hope Todd Walker and Aaron Sele get their dues.
  9. Yikes. Didn't he retire? That said, even his last two years in the majors, which sucked, he was pretty decent against lefties. Held them to a .369 OPS in 2011 and a .581 OPS in 2010. He might end up not terrible if we use him strictly as a LOOGY. Worth a shot, I guess.
  10. Former Red (and Cub, briefly) Ryan Freel died yesterday, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot.
  11. Yeah, my understanding is Brown has had some odd injuries and the Phillies never seemed interested in giving him the starting job. If we end up doing this deal, I'd be thrilled. It's about the best we could hope for. Brown is still young and still a decent hitter. And isn't a FA until 2018.
  12. That's fine and all. Shouldn't cost much to acquire and could put up a 2-3 WAR season easily. I'm hoping if we do this deal it's expanded to include Barney going there and one of their many good young pitchers coming back this way.
  13. I keep forgetting he was an All-Star two years ago. He finished that season with a -0.2 bWAR. Has to be one of the worst All-Stars ever.
  14. I like this move. Not a sexy one, but it's cheap and he can provide a decent 250-300 at bats. He also plays good defense/has a great arm.
  15. Rangers sign Randy Wells. I actually forgot about him.
  16. Phillies acquire Ben Revere for Vance Worley and prospect Trevor May. Swisher and Bourn's markets are dwindling.
  17. lulz I know Safeco is bringing in their walls, but playing at Citi Field killed him offensively. It is a low-pressure situation and isn't a bad idea if it's a cheap one year deal.
  18. Dear god no. 2007 was the last time he had a positive bWAR.
  19. Back on topic, let's just focus our disdain toward the Dodgers
  20. per Jon Heyman. Reportedly for Jordan Walden. Bummer, I woulda loved to have him.
  21. Our long national nightmare could be over.
