  1. David DeJesus wins the batting crown.
  2. Randy Wells is moved to the pen and is our best middle reliever.
  3. I approve. Four years is reasonable. Wouldn't go more than five. I was happy with keeping him if we couldn't get a good haul.
  4. Are the towel jokes really that funny this many years later? They just make me sad what we missed out on.
  5. https://twitter.com/#!/Reds/statuses/174207694171938817 Still a little bummed we traded him, though I'm still excited about the guys we got back. Wish him well (except when he pitches against us, of course).
  6. A lot of money, but (assuming he stays healthy) he'll remain one of the league's best third basemen for a while.
  7. Ugh, no. That [expletive] got so old so fast. It was funny for a bit. Now it's tired and old. I'd say the "jump the shark" moment was the Taco Bell commercial but he was getting boring before that.
  8. Seeing Z in that photo makes me sad. I wish him well, though I also look forward to the first fight between him and Ozzie.
  9. That's really random. Why more PTBNLs? It took this long just to figure out one. As I said before, I'm ok with it being Carpenter. He'll always have command/arm troubles. It could've been worse.
  10. I would be OK if it was Carpenter. Could be a decent reliever but he'll always have arm/control problems.
  11. Not bad. They've got a pretty crowded OF/DH spot right now.
  12. Odd that no one bothered claiming him. I think he is still a decent backup infielder. He'll be back in the majors at some point this season.
  13. Phew. He's not awful depth to have (Ok, he might be) but he makes little sense when we just retained Rodrigo Lopez for the same reason. Good to see another team took the bait.
  14. I went away for a few days and expected to come back to more euphoria. This blows.
  15. Anybody see this? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-cubs-could-be-closing-in-on-cuban-of-soler-20120213,0,3899310.story
  16. Wowww, that came outta nowhere. At least he didn't sign with the Marlins, that provides some enjoyment. We could've beaten that offer, so Theo and Jed must not have approved. I'm assuming we shell out for Soler, who's the one I preferred all along.
  17. Two and three aren't far-fetched. One and four on the other hand...
  18. Which is why I said at the beginning of the offseason. The trade makes little sense for either team now.
  19. At the beginning of the offseason I would've been all for some kind of Soriano for Burnett trade, or just taking him on if the Yanks picked up most of his salary. But now, given our direction and full rotation, it makes no sense.
  20. Random thought, but does anyone think DeWitt may be the Theo compensation?
  21. I haven't heard a projection yet. My guess with his age and experience level, he would start at Peoria. But if he impresses at spring training (assuming he'll be there), he could go to Daytona, but I doubt it. Goldstein: If he's already done well in a league that's supposedly equivalent of high-A or AA, then that doesn't make sense. He's 18. There's no rush. Start him in High-A and go from there.
  22. He was pretty bad the last two years but had a 3.62 ERA from 2007-09. A decent depth move if he puts it back together.
  23. Add John Lannan in the mix if they don't trade him. He's been a quietly decent lefty starter the past few years. On paper, they have a surprisingly solid rotation going into the season. Let's see if they all stay healthy for a change.
