  1. Yes, our 2012 opening day 1B would have been Tyler Colvin... That's pretty dumb. I don't see how the two were intertwined. Probably just baseless guessing.
  2. No one is gonna give him 20 a year. Except maybe the Yankees if they're desperate. But after Igawa and Irabu backfired for them, I can't see them throwing that much dough.
  3. Jesus, everyone (and by everyone I mean the only three people who are complaining) calm the eff down. It's been a month, let everything play out. Rome wasn't built in a day (I usually refrain from cliches but it needed to be said). I like this deal. Colvin had no place here anymore. I like LeMahieu, but he doesn't walk and has no power. He could very well turn into Aaron Miles for all we know. This either has a chance to work out great for us, or it could backfire and all that happens is we're out a couple million and two minor pieces.
  4. No thank you.I don't know how much of an upgrade Sanchez would be over James Loney, and while I'm all for taking risks, knowing the Marlins and the fact that Sanchez is a productive player, he will be by no means cheap. They'll probably want to start at Szczur and McNutt. Meh. He wouldn't be an awful backup plan if we miss out on Fielder. Can still OPS over .800 with decent defense.
  5. If we sign Fielder and Pujols spurns the Cards to bankrupt the Marlins, well, that would be fantastic. Also, let this 10 year offer be true and then it turns out he's 35.
  6. Rockies acquire Kevin Slowey for a PTBNL
  7. I forget where I saw this but the Royals asked the Rays about Shields and they were told it would require Soria, Myers, Christian Colon and another prospect to get it done. I think they may have asked for Alex Gordon too but I'm not sure.
  8. Hmm...any chance we could get Brignac and 1 or those pitchers for Soto and 1 more piece? Maybe even Byrd? Perhaps see what else we could get if we expended the deal to include Marmol? I know Brignac hasn't had a ton of big league success, but much like Stewart, I'd love to give him a shot especially at 2nd. Well they are looking at free agent outfielders and Byrd would fit into their budget. I don't really want Brignac, but some kinda deal with Byrd and a couple prospects for Davis would be cool.
  9. Wouldn't be opposed but depending on the salary I don't know if it would be a good use of resources. And the Yanks apparently want him back.
  10. Awesome. Long deserving. Too bad they couldn't do it while he was alive
  11. Hoyerstein likes to work in the shadows.
  12. Gotta see what the dollar amounts are. He's a decent platoon partner/bat off the bench but is futile against lefties, has awful plate discipline and isn't much of a defender. Phillies are just throwing money at band-aids and their offense could be pretty bad next year.
  13. One of those two is most certainly going to be traded now. I think they'll want BJax in the opening day lineup.
  14. I don't think he's much of an upgrade over Iannetta and is much older, but Chatwood is a nice get.
  15. I read the Yankees would have to be blown away to part with Montero, but they'd deal Banuelos, Austin Romine (their other top catching prospect) and any other necessary pieces in a possible deal. Given that, I don't know if Romine is an improvement over Welington Castillo (other than he's 2 years younger). The Yankees are definitely interested, but I don't think they budge on Montero. They were almost against trading him for Cliff Lee, let alone for Garza.
  16. I forgot about that. This makes it even better.
  17. I honestly don't see how it means any of those things. Byrd can be benched and the AA outfield still has plenty of openings. Yeah, I really don't think Cespedes makes the immediate jump to the majors. More likely he spends at least a few months in the minors.
  18. I'd love to have Headley, but I have a hard time seeing the Padres trading him without getting a top prospect in return (whether it's justified or not). Stewart was just plain bad last year, but he's still young and mashed in the minors. If it wouldn't cost much to get him, I don't see the harm in pulling the trigger and hoping this is the year he breaks out.
  19. Excellent signing. I've always been a fan of his, good hitter with decent gap power and speed on the bases. He's also a pretty reliable fielder. It's also a team-friendly contract. I put last season's struggles on injuries and playing home games in Oakland. Looking at his splits, he was noticeably better on the road and turned it on after the All-Star break. I think he's a nice buy-low candidate and a good start by the new regime.
  20. Clearly, his dues have not been paid yet.
  21. He posted gaudy numbers and had an ERA+ above 400, but anyone else amused by David Robertson getting a vote for Cy Young and MVP?
  22. I'm curious: how did he look nervous? Was he sweating? fidgeting? untalkative? I'm not doubting your friend or anything, I'm just curious what classifies it as "looking nervous."
