  1. Didn't we throw around the idea of Edwin Jackson for Ethier as a change-of-scenery trade? Is that something people would still be interested in? I'd imagine it would take more on each side regarding extra players and $$$. Didn't the metrics say Ethier is a passable CFer?
  2. In case anyone was wondering, Hendricks got a couple NL ROY votes.
  3. Is anyone worried about Hamels' arm falling off (any more than the FA pitchers)? If we would be looking at a trade for Hamels, I know he was total garbage last but would taking on Dom Brown mean taking on less money/giving up less in return? Change of scenery could help, he's much better against righties and could be a decent platoon. Just thinking out loud.
  4. I don't want Cervelli that much and he has more value to the Yankees than Logan Watkins. I'm intrigued by JR Murphy though if Martin/Montero/other options don't work.
  5. Gold Gloves: C Yadier Molina, Cardinals 1B Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers 2B DJ LeMahieu, Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado, Rockies SS Andrelton Simmons, Braves LF Christian Yelich, Marlins CF Juan Lagares, Mets RF Jason Heyward, Braves P Zack Greinke, Dodgers American League C Salvador Perez, Royals 1B Eric Hosmer, Royals 2B Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox 3B Kyle Seager, Mariners SS J.J. Hardy, Orioles LF Alex Gordon, Royals CF Adam Jones, Orioles RF Nick Markakis, Orioles P Dallas Keuchel, Astros Was rather surprised to see DJ win it. Didn't realize he had such a good season with the glove. Also I know the awards are a joke, but Yadier winning again?
  6. Collected a lot more as a kid and sold much of what I had to collectors and at a garage sale but held on to most of my favorite/good cards and still occasionally make a purchase. I pulled an auto/game used jersey Nolan Ryan card out of a pack years ago. Also have an Ernie Banks RC that's in good shape (though it isn't graded) and have a Solly Hofman card from 1910 that I'm fond of.
  7. We talk about Bosio working his magic but what's going on with that magic with Edwin Jackson? Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed more, but his ERA has been more than a run higher than his FIP back to back years and he is showing no signs of getting better. Is his velocity down?
  8. Hey now. I don't claim intelligence.
  9. I'm guessing no one wanted to give up anything for him. Can't blame them.
  10. Lies. Make something happen. Would love to add Turner to the fold. Our depth in the rotation for next year isn't too shabby.
  11. Bryan Morris has allowed 1 run in 31.1 innings since being traded to the Marlins. That's a 0.29 ERA. His FIP, however, is 2.59.
  12. Is Pedro Alvarez a bad comp? Big time power, passable defense, lot of strikeouts.
  13. I had initially hoped for more. But considering Bonifacio wasn't sticking around and has more or less sucked since the first month of the season and Russell's peripherals are worse than his baseball card numbers, I'll take this deal. And I'm a fan of adding more catching prospects to the system. Any idea on this kid's ceiling?
  14. It all depends on what happens the next couple years as players develop, but as of now is it fair to see we got a better return for Shark then the Sox and Rays got for Lester and Price?
  15. Brett Gardner is 8 for his last 11 with four HR. ....what?
  16. On one hand, there's no way we should get anyone of value in return. On the other hand, Ned Coletti. A low-A lottery ticket sounds about right. Also if you Google Coletti, this is the first image that comes up. http://throwbackattack.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Colletti.jpg
  17. Sandberg hinted today that Ryan Howard is no longer the team's starting first baseman and the front office is mulling releasing Howard in the offseason. Now that was a good contract.
  18. Of course it was going to be, but Samardzia's introduction yesterday was hilariously awkward.
  19. I voted a bunch. Morneau probably has the edge from Twins fans who want to see him back in Minny for the festivities.
  20. Obvious: Sosa Kerry Wood Grace (yeah, he's a less than desirable person but I loved watching him play) Sandberg (see Grace) Random: Mueller Bellhorn
  21. someone compared kris bryant and joey gallo to troy glaus and i was like man, [expletive] that then i looked http://i.imgur.com/lN0ubSm.png steroids own Glaus averaged 34 homers a season with good plate patience. I'd take that.
  22. Shark is an All-Star. I'm guessing these rosters were finalized before the holiday.
  23. Matt Wieters voted as the starting catcher for the AL All Star team, lol.
