  1. ri-friggin-diculous. Milwaukee has a significantly better split against lefties than they do against righties: vs. RHP: .232 .298 .358 .656 vs. LHP: .290 .354 .534 .888 Don't insert logic into these discussions. It's much funner to call everyone in the organization stupid. since you're such a big fan of logic, i'll mention that we're 20 games into the season, so i probably wouldn't be crapping myself over their splits. secondly, hill's good and marquis sucks, so logically speaking, i'd probably want the good pitcher to have more starts.
  2. that was a [expletive] ab he had in the 7th. yuck.
  3. those may have been groundballs in that they hit the ground, but those were ropes. wuertz seems like he's either lights out or horrendous with little in between.
  4. Yep, Wuertz and Lieber aren't at all at fault. Wuertz didn't really do anything wrong. He came in and got a couple ground balls... it's not his fault they weren't hit at anybody. those weren't ground balls.
  5. just wanted to clarify. we can take out RP's based solely on their suckiness, right? of course, all of mine (except nathan...knock on wood) suck, so i think i'm going to start whichever one is least likely to pitch.
  6. that first quote reminds me of marmol.
  7. yeah, dusty and his 7-9, fourth place reds really put me in my place.
  8. Probably because right now - those are the guys he trusts. Would you want to put Howry or Wuertz in a close game right now? I wouldn't and it looks like Lou wouldn't either. Let's not get caught up with long or short relief - just guys who will get outs until the rest of the bullpen straightens themself out. I hope/assume that will change in a couple weeks but for today it was smart and it worked. yeah, for today. and i'm guessing you'll be the first one crying about overuse when the cubs can't hold a lead in august because marmol's got a broken arm. you don't manage baseball games for today.
  9. 20 point reduction to nc cubbies please. nothing like looking to next week and seeing i have the pleasure of going up against double starts from both peavy and felix -- the two top scoring pitchers in the league.
  10. if marmol can throw 40 pitches twice a week (maybe with a 12 pitch outing in there too), why can't he throw 100 pitches once a week?
  11. is he missing big time? ball one to rivas showed as right down the middle on gamecast and so did ball two to sanchez.
  12. he doesn't want the negative points burnett put up as a reliever to count since he wouldn't have gotten to keep those points had they been positive.
  13. wait, so baseball players are just as likely to get hurt on the way to the park as they are playing in the game? good stuff.
  14. you're fortunate wang [expletive] himself last night because my offense was actually somewhat productive. if wang had just put up a zero, i'd be down 10 with a one start advantage.
  15. you advocate getting kenny lofton then talk about soriano's diminished skills?
  16. I'm not so sure. They could always promote Kroeger as the extra OF and play Derosa in LF with Fontenot and Cedeno splitting time at 2nd depending on match ups. promoting kroeger would make no sense.
  17. can't wait for the cubs to dick around when it comes to putting soriano on the DL/not putting him on the DL like the phils have done with rollins. i think my luck winning games despite wholesale underperformance may come to an end this week.
  18. yeah, that little duo is pissing me off.
  19. This guy was born 20 years after Fidel. At the time of the revolution, he was a young teenager. If he was still on the island, my guess is Fidel was busy with other things to bother meeting young ballplayers. He signed with Cleveland in 65, and I assume was out of Cuba by then. So, if he met Fidel, it would have had to have been in the middle of the revolution or just after Fidel took power and was in the middle of completely overhauling the country. I'd bet they never met, regardless of how big a baseball fan Fidel was. you think it's more or less likely than roast meeting bill gates? more or less likely than roast meeting mark cuban?
  20. i just wish chris didn't have an exempt catcher (albeit one far inferior to the one(s) i'd be offering :D ).

    Week 2

have i mentioned that i've won three effing championships in a row?
  22. just so i have this right...marquis' outing sunday, in which he gave up nearly two baserunners per inning, bumped him up in the rotation. and he is now ahead of hill on the depth chart despite the fact that his season numbers are worse than hill's? and that's not even considering last year when hill was one of the better pitchers in baseball and marquis had a post-ASB ERA near 6. this logic is just a little tough to follow, so please bear with me.
  23. will someone pm chris and tell him to take me off ignore? thanks.
