in light of the circumstances? the patriots' defense wasn't that great this year. they were very good, yes, but not great. and let's be honest, the reason the giants won the game was their defense, not eli manning. the giants scored 17 points, which most people before the game would've said would not be enough to win. the giants' defense, especially their front four, played great, and held the most prolific offense in the league to just two touchdowns. and manning should've been maligned by the NY media; he had a lower QB rating than 3/4 of the league. i'm sorry, i didn't realize that urlacher, vasher, harris and briggs were on the field at the same time as rex grossman. I know, and if I went farther back I could talk about how guys like Mark Rypien, Phil Simms, Jim Plunkett and Doug Williams had better games in the Super Bowl. He played fine, not great, and I think he was pretty fortunate on a few of his throws, but let's not blow this game out of proportion. and let's not blow his age 24 season out of proportion.
