  1. he's also first in the NL in outs made at third.
  2. Results-oriented thinking is tempting, but the move was right or wrong regardless of Marquis' performance tonight. i was thinking it was wrong before the results were in. and i was right.
  3. we're gonna need to update the brewers vs. righties and marquis vs. brewers numbers.
  4. You aren't really going to use this year's numbers to tell if a player's good or not, are you? I thought you were better than that. you did?
  5. Or when Pie puts up better numbers than Johnson over a full season? WE'D HAVE GREENE. Dear Lord, it's not like they'd be trading away Pie for nothing. We'd also have Reed Johnson as a full time CF. I'm not sure Pie + Cedeno is going to wind up as worse than Johnson + Greene. That's without even figuring trading away 2 players with another 9(?) years of team control to go with players with 2(?) years of team control. Greene going to hit AT LEAST 15-20 homers with 70 RBI's. Can Pie and\or Cedeno match those numbers? Yes. you spelled "hell no" wrong. and greene would hit more than 15 homers in the central.
  6. i don't think you can do this unless one of your scheduled starters misses a start due to injury.
  7. geez, two starts for hamels and they're against the padres and the giants. don't suppose raw is going to screw that up so that hamels' second start doesn't count, eh? padres, by the way, have a .225 team batting average and a .297 OBP. that's amazing.
  8. i think some new guys are going to get a chance this week for the hand sanitizers. galarraga and lannon last week = 101 points liriano and ubaldo last week = -44.5 points so yeah, new guys getting a shot this week.* *unless they're traded. :D
  9. It is your job to watch out for these things as neither Brian nor I has time to check every matchup. oh, i wasn't saying it was your job. asking you guys to do that would be asking a lot considering your salary. the manager of the team who did it should be responsible for counting his own starts.
  10. not that it matters for our matchup (or that it's my job to watch out for these things), but the points for either peavy or felix need to be taken away from my opponent, as he had eight starts this week.
  11. nothing like losing to someone who pays so little attention to their team that he allows himself to get shorted a felix/peavy start by going over the seven start limit.
  12. I understand how desperate you seem to be to get last word in, so you may want to direct this comment at whomever made the lineout comment. i wasn't trying to direct it at you, i just didn't want to make another post. man, you're sensitive.
  13. Thanks for the advice. It truly means a lot to me. I'm touched by your concern for my epidermis. your condescension hurts my feelings. and yeah, that "lineout" was not hit very hard.
  14. good luck getting in touch with those that don't post on nsbb.
  15. Seriously. Ryan Theriot hit a single yesterday. I want you to find me a quote from anyone that says that Ryan Theriot will never hit a single. I'll wait. Take all the time you need. Oh? Nobody has said that? Okay then. The argument against Ryan Theriot is not that he will never, ever do anything, and will hit .000/.000/.000 with zero putouts and zero assists. The argument is that over the course of a full season, Ryan Theriot is unlikely to be especially productive at shortstop - his median forecast is basically right at replacement level, and his high-end forecast still falls short of league average production from his position. He will occasionally have good days, sure - I'm sure I can find some game-winning hits from Neifi Perez if I go back and check the play-by-play records. But over time, the likelihood is that the bad days will outnumber the good. That said. If for whatever reason you will only be satisfied with Ryan Theriot's detractors if we say bad things about him even on the good days - I am there. I am so there. If that's really all that you need to... well, I have no idea why this seems to bother you, but if it does, I will go ahead and provide that valuable service to you. So far as I am capable, I will go ahead and find a way to communicate to you, personally, Ryan Theriot's worth as a starting shortstop - in game threads, in postgame discussions... any time, any place. You're welcome in advance. I think I am in love with this post! Welcome to the boards. Me too, because just what these boards need is more condescending posts. good grief, dude, get some thicker skin. truffle comes in guns-a-blazin because he thinks one swing of theriot's bat has somehow validated his against all odds crusade against cedeno, and he got put in his place. get over it.
  16. hey marquis, how about not swinging at 2-0 pitches that are out of the strike zone?
  17. the reason it was brought up in the earlier thread was because a relief pitcher was sucking. i was just surprised that someone other than me had a relief pitcher that sucked...i thought i cornered that market.
  18. i like how you keep saying this as if it means anything.
  19. I don't. Weekly subs are my favorite thing about this league. i agree. but it was established in one of the weekly threads somewhere that is was allowed.
  20. Because the Brewers hammer lefties. and everyone hammers marquis.
  21. It's just a continuation of last season. 2007 against lefties: .860 OPS 2007 against righties: .755 OPS hill 2007: very good marquis 2007: crappy Actually, Marquis was an above-average starter last year. fine. hill 2006-2007: very good marquis 2006-2007: crappy.
  22. i realize they're better against lefties. but i'd rather send a good lefty up against a team that hits lefties well than a bad rigthy up against a team that his righties ok. if this were lilly, he would not be pushed back. right now, the cubs lack the type of #2 starter you're going to want for a playoff series. hill has the potential to be that guy, but it's not going to happen if they yank him after 5 innings every start and push him back every time a team that hits lefties pops up.
  23. it's as if lou forgot hill's 2007 ever happened.
  24. It's just a continuation of last season. 2007 against lefties: .860 OPS 2007 against righties: .755 OPS hill 2007: very good marquis 2007: crappy
