  1. soriano's only had four hitless games (not counting games in which he had one ab) all may. can we quit pretending he's been worthless outside of that one week yet?
  2. has there been a bigger fantasy bust than prince fielder?
  3. i haven't seen the term GWRBI since the last time i looked at the back of a 1987 topps.
  4. jim rome talks like a 14 year old rich white kid from the suburbs that tries to act black.
  5. did he talk about how the roberts rumors only effected his defense?
  6. not the best amateur porn, but pretty good nonetheless. you missed out, raw.
  7. barring a collapse, i think marmol makes it. maybe at the expense of dempster.
  8. sutcliffe and berman sounded like they were high last night. sutcliffe (on pierre): i love this guy. berman (real softly/gently): i know you do. it was weird.
  9. He just lost a game 2 days ago. Why can't an article be written about it? He's been bad. Marquis has been bad, not so bad that it's indefensible for him to have a job pitching in the major leagues, but bad enough to justify writing articles about how bad he's been. It's a 162 game season that requires stories to be written for 9 months. Soriano's poor showing is deserving of an article. The tears, well, that's another issue. tough to say he "lost" the game. i mean, he did hit a 2-run homer that game too. and yeah, articles can be written about it, i suppose...they have to write about something. i just think his defensive problems have been overblown because of their timing.
  10. No kidding. It bugs me that the tipping point for this is him losing a ball in the sun, something that can happen to any fielder out there. The St. Louis game was rough, and he definitely gave up on the faux-HR in Pittsburgh...he also had that crappy outing when Wood had one of his blown saves against the Brewers. Nothing to brag about, obviously, but I'm just not seeing this defensive butcher that people seem to be worried about. You can start listing off a few really bad instances. It's not just the sun. But the sun game directly blew a win, and it followed another bad play. Soriano's been bad out there, no reason to gloss over it. but he hasn't been that bad. not so bad that articles need to be written about it or that wrigley23 needs to literally cry tears about it.
  11. also, besides losing one ball in the sun and having one bad game in st. louis, what exactly has soriano done so horribly defensively? he's not exactly graceful out there, but come on. people are acting like he's made 11 errors and the cubs are in fourth place because of it.
  12. disservice to their fans? that's a new one.
  13. Can we please stop acting like this team is good at stealing bases and clamoring that they do it more often? They can barely lay down a decent bunt. I think that's one thing we all agree on... being fast doesn't equal being good at stealing bases... but when the first baseman isn't holding you, and the pitcher isn't checking (and is basically giving you 2nd base) and you don't take it... that's different. And you're spotting this exact no-doubt situation over and over again? My guess is he's referring to last night. The fact that he didn't steal 2nd with Broxton on the mound, runners on the corners, and 1 out seems to indicate that he's not that close to 100%. and it came back to kill the cubs, costing them the season. so if people want a basestealer to bat leadoff, who do you want? because theriot sucks at stealing bases.
  14. you can just tell...
  15. hendry may be the cub i dislike the most.
  16. if you truly believe that, you're in for a disappointing next six seasons.
  17. my favorite part about your idea is how stunned you seem by no one else being on board. like it's an episode of the twilight zone and everyone around you has gone crazy.
  18. lol...because you bring him up in EVERY SINGLE thread.
  19. They're out of options, so they get a free pass. But he just signed Edmonds. And I don't mind Johnson on the roster for LHP, but it seems stupid for me to say that Pie got booted for not producing when we have gotten no production whatsoever from center field against RHP. that's my problem as well. Pie should have gotten a month straight starting to see if he can produce. Giving him 5 games doesn't give him time to adjust to the faster pitching. The Hill thing as infruiated me from the moment he was pulled. Yes he was walking people but his ERA was still 4.11. He can walk all the people he wants as long as he strikes the next guy out and doesn't allow a run. He has been our most consistent pitcher the last two years and he's yanked 2 weeks into the season when his ERA is still somewhat good??? That makes absolutely no sense. Not that big of a deal, but no, Zambrano has been been our most consistent pitcher. Honestly, I think Rich Hill has been ridiculously inconsistent. He either looks unhittable and the next big thing. Or he just gets rocked, and gives up home run after home run. Either way, he should be in the rotation, and Marquis shouldn't. inconsistent or not, hill has been the best cubs' pitcher since ASB of '06. and zambrano wasn't exactly the model of consistency last year. the absurdity of demoting and subsequently burying the guy who has been your best pitcher over a 1 1/2 season stretch is just mind-boggling. think of other teams and who their best starter over that stretch is and what it would be like if they just sent them to AAA after 2-3 bad starts.
  20. of all the crazy posts i read on here, i think the ones where people claim to have the ability to read players' minds are my favorite.
  21. you have an amazing ability to squeeze your soriano hatred into every single thread.
  22. but we'd have to trade zambrano to make room for him oops. forgot the "trade the superior player" part of the frosty worm equation.
  23. may have to try and catch that.
