  1. [expletive] [expletive] wakefield gets an earned run taken away from him because of a passed ball. [expletive] THIS [expletive] [expletive].
  2. what a [expletive] ridiculous end to the week. i think it's a sign that i'm supposed to quit the league. [expletive].
  3. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. If I had started Bannister (today) and Jackson instead of McGowan (yesterday) and Santana (today) I'd have about 90 more points and an easy win. yeah, but you'd never do that because jackson and bannister are pretty meh and those other guys are good.
  4. but, but, but... he has 9k's! you're doing that not-at-all tired, completely hilarious green font thing like the k's don't, in part, cancel out some of the harm from the walks, but they do. bring him back up. I don't see how anyone can expect him to be successful if he keeps walking this many guys. At the big league level more guys can hit breaking balls so I don't think that the K's are necessarilly reflective of what he would do here. really? he finished 5th in the NL in k's in 2007. interesting that the cubs aren't the only people who have apparently forgotten hill's '07.
  5. quick recap of my catching history. last year i had soto (awesome, with exemptions), martin (awesome, with exemptions) and towles (potential to be awesome, with exemptions). now i'm left with towles, who is hitting under .200 and splitting time with brad frappin' ausmus. i may have opted to keep the wrong one. at least soto brought me uggla, who is awesome. if i had started demp instead of sanchez, i would be up 20 right now. damn.

  8. 5 2/3 ip, 3 h, 4 bb, 0 r, 8 k's. 92 pitches, 52 strikes. yeah, he walked more than you'd like, but it's cancelled out by his ability to strike guys out and not give up hits. bring him back up.
  9. good to have rollins back.
  10. That's pretty poor reasoning. really? why? they've lost every tinkered-with game. if i remember correctly, they shuffled the rotation to allow marquis (and not hill) to start against the brewers. they lost. hill was then nine days removed from his last start when he threw against the cardinals. they lost that game. and lieber, who took hill's spot in the rotation, got battered today. they lost. you really don't see how this rotation shuffle hurt the cubs? I don't think it's the reason they're 3-6. and i didn't say it was the reason. But your argument certainly implied it. no it didn't.
  11. fixed. anyway, what about gay male reporters going into male locker rooms or gay female reporters going into locker rooms? if straight women are concerned about men going into their locker rooms for fear of being leered at, shouldn't they also be worried about gay women coming into the locker room and doing just that? who cares.

  14. the male athletes don't care if a woman reporter sees them half-naked, the women athletes do care if a male reporter sees them half-naked. it's not that confusing. anyway, unless you're a professional athlete or a reporter, i don't know why your opinion even matters. it has nothing to do with you.
  15. Did you ever think that maybe Dusty knows something we don't, since ya know, he's actually around the guy. Maybe he knows that it actually makes Volquez's arm healthier to throw 120 pitches in a blowout. Ever think of that? good point. he obviously knew what he was doing with wood and prior. they've been healthy as could be since 2003.
  16. cubs were 16-9 prior to marquis' start against the brewers (when hill was skipped), and they're 3-6 since. way to get your hands all over stuff, lou!
  17. and we had just come out of a restaurant with huge tv's facing the sidewalk (all showing the game) and he didn't even glance to see what the score was, which was a little surprising.
  18. Just because I'm in a pissy mood... What the hell is he doing walking downtown? Shouldn't he be watching the game? Jerk. it was pretty funny actually. my buddy said hey to him, and i said "they need you!" (we had just left a restaurant where we were watching the game). he looked at us all weird. he walked like ten more steps turned around and looked at us weird like "do i know those guys," and then walked like half a block before turning around and looking at us again. we were still staring at him and cracking up.
  19. it's too bad soriano wasn't batting in johnson's spot right there.
  20. johnson continues his dominance of right handed pitching.
  21. anxiously awaiting hill being blamed for this. after all, he couldn't get his act together so lieber, bless his heart, had to step in and do something he wasn't used to doing. can you blame him?
  22. I wouldn't want Hill, Lilly, or Marshall to face the Brewers. They hammer left-handed pitching. and jason marquis.
