  1. Everybody? No. But a majority, that I believe. At least enough that I really don't care. i guess i just don't feel the same way.
  2. i really don't buy the "everybody was doing them argument." i just find that remarkably hard to believe.
  3. this isn't 1964 or whenever it is you started watching baseball. even if the cubs paid prior $25 mil, they got their money's worth.
  4. You are mistaken. EVERYTHING included, Prior made 15.725 million as a Cub from 2002-2007. and his 2003 alone was worth that.
  5. the only way i can defend this move is if prior was not going to be able to pitch until july/august and he told the cubs he would absolutely not want to return to chicago after this season.
  6. i have also been surprised by the lack of national coverage. especially considering there isn't too much going on right now. obviously if the bidding was between the red sox and yankees as opposed to the cubs and padres, it'd be different.
  7. i feel like jason marquis owes the cubs after pitching well below his value last year. if he were a man, he rip up his existing contract and play for $300 this year.
  8. Remember that? The guy obviously has a piss poor attitude. After what the Cubs have done for him, if he wasn't willing to do the Cubs a favor by giving them the 2nd year, then screw him. I know it's sad to see him go, it's sad in a way for me too. But at the same time, we're talking about the 2008 season and a guy who hasn't been decent since 2005 and who hasn't even pitched since 2006. Maybe he'll come back and be great, but that's incredibly unlikely. It's pretty foolish to waste three million on a guy and HOPE that you get half of a season of decent starts out of him before he bolts for free agency. The Cubs are obviously sick and tired of waiting on Prior to come around. Can't say I blame them. i'm sorry, what have the cubs done for him exactly? seems to me he's done more for them (ie win them the division in 2003 at a bargain price). Paid him millions of dollars to do absolutely nothing for the team over the last couple years? After collecting millions for doing nothing, if he's not willing to give the Cubs another year of control (that they lost by paying him to sit on his ass last year), then I'm fine with letting him walk. well, you obviously weren't in the country during 2003, so i'll give you a pass on this one. carry on.
  9. i like it. trade pie for someone good.

  11. yeah, that whole 2003 when he was the one of the best pitchers in the game, flat out dominating the entire second half, etc i just didnt' feel right at all. a day after i give hendry a rare compliment, this happens.
  12. says the guy excited about the cordero contract. good job, hendry. no way you just said that. he still sucks overall, but this looks good.
  13. says the guy excited about the cordero contract. good job, hendry.
  14. aren't things that grow on trees, by definition, average?
  15. i wouldn't trade hill alone for him, let alone hill +.
  16. if derosa's capable of playing ss, he damn well better be playing everyday.
  17. He was hands down the best pitcher on the market. good for him. still not impressed.
  18. Maybe you could cut a slice of that hypocrisy pie for Ryan Theriot - since he had such a miserable first season? ...at age 27. not 22.
  19. he was as close to one as anybody in the cubs' lineup last year, wasn't he?
  20. yeah, how dare people post his mediocre-to-terrible stats. how insulting.
  21. that's an interesting way of looking at it. another way would be to say outside of one good month, he sucked.
  22. MLK day. because respect is so important to the japenese, he's going to announce it on MLK day (as MLK was a very respectful person).
  23. i'm convinced he built the homes of at least a dozen people on nsbb. also, is it really so outlandish to think theriot's not worth $10 million?
