  1. i heard he was making his eyes slanty when he said it. seriously though, i don't know how you can say he's not stereotyping (unless there's some kind of inside joke going on where fukudome wears a karate gei to the ballpark each day).
  2. those are the kind of lineups you get when the game is in tucson.
  3. always making excuses for the adorable little white guy.
  4. nice stereotyping, theriot. wow.
  5. case closed!
  6. you'd be satisfied trading 7 players off the 40 man for 2? think about that You bet..You acquire Roberts and Fontenot and Cedeno are expendable. You acquire Crisp-where are Pie and Murton gonna play? Marshall is 5-7 starter now. Marquis has been on the market for months. Ceda and Gallagher are 3A pitchers this season anyway, because Hendry was silly and signed Lieber and Wood. so who are you going to use to fill those other 5 roster spots? who cares? are you subscribing to phil rogers' +/- system or something? not saying i'd be happy with those deals, but what's your point?
  7. who was it that kept making posts about how important respect is to japanese players? like they're samauris or something.
  8. good luck on your attempts to master both quoting and sarcasm.
  9. for me, it's equal parts both of those two things and the fact that he's on my fantasy team.
  10. i'm not doing it this year. i like the idea a lot, but it blacks out the cubs, twins, brewers and cardinals. if i had to rank the top four teams i'd want to watch in a given year, those four teams would typically be toward the top. i wonder if i could try and talk them into changing my blackout area or something. i'm assuming they'll call to see if i want to do it again.
  11. if you're the type of person that enjoys reading posts made by people who are right, go back and read my posts early in this thread.
  12. it's a play on words. try and keep up.
  13. yeah, they should be cashing in on the ratings bonanza that are the pirates and the orioles.
  14. people aren't going to ignore it because they like the attention.
  15. i definitely see the connection.
  16. Not a chance I'll let 'em get to me. I simply went to Theriot and told him what the numbers said and asked for his response. People don't see the interview process, but I hit him with stuff he didn't like. And unlike some of those people who like to analyze other people's work, my name goes on what I do. And I show up to face the people I write about. To be fair to Ken Tremendous, he did come out and reveal who he and the rest of their writers are about two weeks ago, even if he doesn't put his real name on every article like he should. Ken's shtick can only work on the internets right now, and he knows it. "Ken Tremendous (Michael Schur), Junior (Alan Yang), and dak (Dave King) are all TV writers. We live in Los Angeles, in places other than our mothers' basements. Please do not send e-mails to us about anything other than sports journalism." I thought Ken Tremendous was Mose Schrute? hate to be the one to break this to you, but, despite the documentary feel of the show, the office isn't real.
  17. you guys always say "stay hot."
  18. well federal law should trump baseball rules 100 times out of 100. i'm pretty sure that rape and murder aren't officially against the rules of baseball either, but that wouldn't excuse a ball player from committing them Technically, though, that wouldn't make rape or murder "cheating." And what if said player managed to use steroids without breaking any laws? curious as to how that would work.
  19. i don't think they're similar at all. willits walks a lot and has zero power. pie has no plate discipline and should hit for a moderate amount of power. i'd stick with pie.
  20. The Yankees were not trying to cost Pavano money, they simply wanted to clear his roster spot and wash their hands of this disaster. Pavano's reason for not accepting this (according to his agent) was that accepting the minor league deal would affect his MLB service time and thereby cost him some of his pension! I find this laughable am thankful that Carla Pavana will be pitching elsewhere next season. i see what you did there.
  21. Why is it no big deal if people like Aramis take part in [expletive] fighting and Michael Vick is massacred for dog fighting? I realize the differences, the legal issue, the fact that Vick was the ringleader in his case, but to say 'who cares' to cockfighting ignores the issue of why these 'sports' are illegal in the US - they are inhumane. apparently you don't. anyone ever seen the warren oates movie cockfighter? directly by the legendary (and criminally underrated monte hellman). it's ok.
  22. the whole thing is a lot more entertaining if you imagine andy pettitte having some kind of robert ford thing going on.
  23. he's looking at you, rocketman date night.
  24. worst cliffhanger ever.
  25. i wonder if it would benefit sammy to be on the ballot with those guys...they're "confirmed" cheaters, while he was only speculated to be a cheater.
