    Week 2

someone wake ned yost up and tell him villanueva's done. five straight hits after giving up two hits thru the first six.
  2. so because people here wanted brad wilkerson, ryan theriot is good. a bit of a stretch perhaps, but i'm on board.
  3. unemployed asians who suck at baseball. oh, and the person who started this thread and his racism.
  4. Haven't you ever gone through the motions on something but your head wasn't really there? Walking to work Monday. I was so hungover I couldn't think straight and thought I was going to stumble into traffic at any time. I needed a half dozen cups of coffee just to look at the computer. did you manage to still OPS .970+ for a major league team that day? if so, you probably had what derosa has.
  5. please explain how he's distracted on defense, yet perfectly fine on offense. Are you saying such a thing has never happened before? How about Ankiel, Knoblauch? how about those are completely different situations. they had mental blocks with regard to throwing accuracy. derosa's biffed two grounders...it's not like he's throwing the ball into the stands six times a game. give me a break. he said, "the trade talks that have been over for two weeks are currently effecting my ability to field ground balls, but not hit?" link please. they may have been bothering him (weeks ago), but to blame them for his two errors is, yes, delusional.

  7. Barrett lunged first and instigated the second instance in the clubhouse. Shhhh. You are interfering with some people's delusions. funny coming from you. Yeah that's right. How dare I go against the established know-it-alls of nsbb? no, i just find it amusing you're talking about delusions two days after theorizing that derosa's defense has been effected by the roberts rumors (despite his very good offensive production) and immediately after claiming that nobody on the cubs like barrett (even though they voted him a full playoff share).
  8. they do the same with NFL sunday ticket I'd rather have it automatically renew. Here's how hard it is to cancel: type http://www.directv.com into your browser and click a few times. you're hilarious. you shouldn't have to tell someone you don't want to buy something. what if you're out of town when the letter comes or it gets lost in junk?

  10. did you know that if you get EI once they give it to you the next season even if you don't order it? directv sent me a letter saying i was going to automatically get it unless i called them and told them i didn't want it. stupid.
  11. also, roberts isn't on the team.
  12. finally you get it. though i wish soriano was hitting a little worse and the cubs were paying him $250 mil.

    agreed.
  14. hmm...i guess buster olney is an idiot.
  15. I don't know, would you like to discourse it? certainly. i will meet you at the local community theater, set up some podiums and get to the bottom of this.* *this will be a no sarcasm discourse.
  16. replacing derosa's butchery with patterson is only going to lead to threads just like this one except directed at patterson. where does it end?

for instance...lots of teams have mondays off. you could play an OF that plays on monday (if one of your regular OF doesn't play that day), then swap in the regular for tuesday. just set the lineups on monday and leave them (barring injury).

why even allow us to swap them out at all? it would just be simpler to say the lineups (SP's excluded) are set on monday, end of story. if someone is hurt, you can remove him. when he's better, you can put him back in. allowing everybody to take a guy out once during a week is tough to police and could allow teams to gain games played advantages from position players.

yeah, you can't take valverde out.
  20. he spent most of the year wondering whether he was going to have to uproot his family for crying out loud.
  21. ok, then you don't bench him. good talk.
  22. who was the guy that insisted LOOGY's were "a myth?"
  23. I don't usually do this, but:  1) I never said he should be benched; 2) Comparing him to Aramis and Fukudome is stupid. Roll your eyes all you want. I didn't directly compare him to either player...simply pointing out that "something might need to be done" (and what that possibly means besides playing him less, I have no idea) about a productive and generally reliable player having a couple of unfortunately costly errors this early in the season is pretty much an exercise in futility. Then it looks like you missed the point of my post. If he becomes a butcher at 2B what do we do? I dunno, I am just asking. i guess you bench him. which is what everyone said at first, but you didn't like that. i don't know what you want. more importantly, what do we do if rich hill loses his arm in a lawnmower accident? i don't know...but it's a question that needs to be asked.
  24. Your post lacks the biting sarcasm I've come to expect from you. Having sympathy for me tonight? the brian roberts rumors are getting to him.
  25. wait, you're saying derosa's error today was due to the trade rumors he suffered through during ST? I'm saying he's been noticeably worse in the field this season, and he himself said he was having trouble concentrating on baseball preparing for the season. I'm not the only one drawing the link between the two. We're still just 7 games in. The man is probably still trying to get his head in the game. He was probably spending most of March talking about whether he would need to uproot his family, for God's sake. so it's having a drastic, negative effect on him in the field, yet he is putting up career high numbers on offense. interesting theory you've got there even though it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
