  1. it is kind of frustrating that marmol, wood, and marshall are all in the pen (and hill in AAA), while marquis, lieber and dempster are in the rotation.
  2. Soriano should not be leading off, however, I don't think Theriot is a better choice.Nor is Theroit. Did you see Alter Bridge @ House of Blues over the weekend? I was there Friday, AWESOME CONCERT!!!! and i thought "theriot for leadoff" was the worst thing i read in this thread.
  3. baserunning apparently not a point of emphasis at lsu.
  4. EVERY GAME soriano leads off is another victory for wrigley23.
  5. if i don't at least split in my next two weeks, it may be time to become a seller.
  6. yeah, not exactly a ringing endorsement for larry. especially since hill says he hasn't been right all year (including ST).
  7. Let's get to the playoffs first. the cubs are 10 games better than any team in this division, especially with gallardo done and mil's bullpen in shambles. if they somehow manage to not win the division it will be because lee, ramirez and fukudome all got polio. their rotation is good enough to win the central, but i wouldn't feel good about it in the playoffs.
  8. good luck with a playoff rotation of z, lilly, dempster and lieber, cubs!
  9. liriano, hill and ubaldo have combined to give me 48 points on the season. i would have expected one or two of them to perform below expectations, but this is ridiculous. not only are hill's struggles killing my fantasy team (x2), they're killing the cubs in a major way. good luck in the playoffs with a rotation of z, dempster and lieber. yikes.
  10. no, he hasn't. i don't think there's any doubt that he's out of the rotation...90% sure of that. and i'd say there's a very good chance he goes to AAA. he should have been left in for at least one more batter tonight. that's four starts in a row that lou has had a remarkably short leash on hill. it's as if it's 2005 and hill has never had success before. One more batter and the game might have been over in the first inning. the worst that would have happened is another walk and one more run. as it is, they lost anyway, ruined the bullpen in the process, and likely completely demoralized hill. leaving him for at least one more batter would have been the right thing to do.
  11. no, he hasn't. i don't think there's any doubt that he's out of the rotation...90% sure of that. and i'd say there's a very good chance he goes to AAA. he should have been left in for at least one more batter tonight. that's four starts in a row that lou has had a remarkably short leash on hill. it's as if it's 2005 and hill has never had success before.
  12. yeah, the cubs are definitely in a do-or-die situation this weekend.
  13. no sympathy here. rollins and soriano were my two most expensive keepers, and they've missed a ton of games.
  14. i really wish that theriot was as good a baserunner as you think he is.
  15. hey, guy who hates wood, who is pitching the 7th and 8th yesterday if marmol is closing?
  16. ravech is awful.
  17. nobody's saying wood didn't suck yesterday. but the two other saves he's blown have been one run leads that he blew by making one bad pitch (as opposed to walking four guys or giving up a bunch of hit/hrs). it happens. secondly, marmol can't pitch three innings every day. even the most serious wood-hater has to admit he's the cubs second best reliever. someone has to pitch those innings whether it's the 7th, 8th or 9th, and wood's going to have to pitch some of them, like it or not.
  18. he's also first in the NL in outs made at third.
  19. Results-oriented thinking is tempting, but the move was right or wrong regardless of Marquis' performance tonight. i was thinking it was wrong before the results were in. and i was right.
  20. we're gonna need to update the brewers vs. righties and marquis vs. brewers numbers.
  21. You aren't really going to use this year's numbers to tell if a player's good or not, are you? I thought you were better than that. you did?
  22. Or when Pie puts up better numbers than Johnson over a full season? WE'D HAVE GREENE. Dear Lord, it's not like they'd be trading away Pie for nothing. We'd also have Reed Johnson as a full time CF. I'm not sure Pie + Cedeno is going to wind up as worse than Johnson + Greene. That's without even figuring trading away 2 players with another 9(?) years of team control to go with players with 2(?) years of team control. Greene going to hit AT LEAST 15-20 homers with 70 RBI's. Can Pie and\or Cedeno match those numbers? Yes. you spelled "hell no" wrong. and greene would hit more than 15 homers in the central.
  23. i don't think you can do this unless one of your scheduled starters misses a start due to injury.
  24. geez, two starts for hamels and they're against the padres and the giants. don't suppose raw is going to screw that up so that hamels' second start doesn't count, eh? padres, by the way, have a .225 team batting average and a .297 OBP. that's amazing.
  25. i think some new guys are going to get a chance this week for the hand sanitizers. galarraga and lannon last week = 101 points liriano and ubaldo last week = -44.5 points so yeah, new guys getting a shot this week.* *unless they're traded. :D
