  1. Did you ever think that maybe Dusty knows something we don't, since ya know, he's actually around the guy. Maybe he knows that it actually makes Volquez's arm healthier to throw 120 pitches in a blowout. Ever think of that? good point. he obviously knew what he was doing with wood and prior. they've been healthy as could be since 2003.
  2. cubs were 16-9 prior to marquis' start against the brewers (when hill was skipped), and they're 3-6 since. way to get your hands all over stuff, lou!
  3. and we had just come out of a restaurant with huge tv's facing the sidewalk (all showing the game) and he didn't even glance to see what the score was, which was a little surprising.
  4. Just because I'm in a pissy mood... What the hell is he doing walking downtown? Shouldn't he be watching the game? Jerk. it was pretty funny actually. my buddy said hey to him, and i said "they need you!" (we had just left a restaurant where we were watching the game). he looked at us all weird. he walked like ten more steps turned around and looked at us weird like "do i know those guys," and then walked like half a block before turning around and looking at us again. we were still staring at him and cracking up.
  5. it's too bad soriano wasn't batting in johnson's spot right there.
  6. johnson continues his dominance of right handed pitching.
  7. anxiously awaiting hill being blamed for this. after all, he couldn't get his act together so lieber, bless his heart, had to step in and do something he wasn't used to doing. can you blame him?
  8. I wouldn't want Hill, Lilly, or Marshall to face the Brewers. They hammer left-handed pitching. and jason marquis.
  9. without his goggles on, actually (needed a challenge).
  10. this worked out well. marquis got rocked in his start against the brewers (remember, they don't hit righties well). hill pitched terribly after his 9 day lay off, burning the bullpen and losing to the cardinals. and now lieber is getting lit up. pretty good chance this little switcheroo will go 0-3. nicely done, lou. i wonder what would have happened had he just left everything ALONE.
  11. you know who may have fared well against all these lefties? the guy who held lefties to a .191 avg last year.
  12. or the guy who was one of the best pitchers in baseball last year that is currently hanging out in des moines. you could make a better rotation using the bullpen and iowa than the one the cubs are using right now.
  13. that whole skip hill in the rotation then send him down after he sucks plan has worked out wonderfully.
  14. a pitching match-up in a baseball game (a regular season one, no less) "scares you to death?"
  15. groundout walk out of some kind k
  16. Doesn't sound great. he's thrown less than an inning over like the past month and he just got demoted after being one of the best pitchers in the game last year. i'll take one run over three innings and 2/3 strikes given the circumstances.
  17. 3 ip, 4 h, 1 er, 0 bb, 3 k's. 48 pitches, 32 strikes.
  18. k double infield hit (dribbler in front of the plate) cs lineout to ss
  19. 18 pitches, 12 strikes for hill in the first. two k's and a hr allowed.
  20. yeah, but marquis sucks. he should be skipped.
  21. Today. huh. if i were a good nsbb'er i'd go down there and watch him. too late now though...
  22. so when's he starting for iowa? he's thrown 27 pitches in like the last three weeks.
