  1. oh, i bet randy was pissed.
  2. Awesome post. You're a credit to this community. Seriously, if you won't even try to come up with anything remotely insightful to say why can't you just stay out of the thread? Way too many of your posts are nothing but empty insults, and many of the others are just plain stupid. People here, including myself, show a hell of a lot more civility towards you than you display to others. Other people have disagreed respectfully and supported their arguments, but not you. Just leave the thread if you can't add anything. Better yet, just leave. sorry, but it's hard to take your pleas for insightful posts seriously when you continue to propose this ridiculous idea. i could sit on the keyboard and come up with something more insightful than trading lee, one of the team's most productive and popular players, so that soriano can move to a position he's never played before, hurting the team both at 1b and lf...all because soriano lost a ball in the sun and had one bad defensive game in st. louis. i mean, you're basically proposing trading one of the cubs best players to improve the leftfield defense. that's insanity. you're saying that the defensive production the cubs get out of leftfield is more important than the offensive production lee provides. it's leftfield. leftfield. do you realize how far down "leftfield defense" is on the list of things a baseball team needs? and then do you realize how nice it is to have a gold glove, .900 OPS 1b? the reason i haven't put the effort into making any "insightful" posts on this matter is because you're idea is so stupid it doesn't deserve insightful responses (plus, for a while there i was sure you were joking...that's how terrible this idea is). if someone came on here trying to tell me the earth was flat, i wouldn't put much effort into refuting that either.
  3. Are you kidding me? Then what the hell happened? He was there, under it...do you honestly think he just had a mental collapse and couldn't handle it? It was obviously lost in the sun. oh my. Oh my, what? oh my, wrigley23 thinks it's crazy to blame the sun for the flyball soriano lost in the sun. come to think of it, add soriano's failure to be immune from the sun's rays as another reason to move him to 1b.
  4. the guy who played screech on saved by the bell called me gay at a comedy club once.
  5. Are you kidding me? Then what the hell happened? He was there, under it...do you honestly think he just had a mental collapse and couldn't handle it? It was obviously lost in the sun. oh my.
  6. I have forgiven him for the drop in Pittsburgh. i have dropped the grudge i had against the sun.
  7. there are a lot of stadiums with astroturf though...good point. oh wait, it's not 1978 anymore, nevermind.
  8. you shouldn't have bit. believe it or not, your idea looks even dumber now.
  9. soriano's only had four hitless games (not counting games in which he had one ab) all may. can we quit pretending he's been worthless outside of that one week yet?
  10. has there been a bigger fantasy bust than prince fielder?
  11. i haven't seen the term GWRBI since the last time i looked at the back of a 1987 topps.
  12. jim rome talks like a 14 year old rich white kid from the suburbs that tries to act black.
  13. did he talk about how the roberts rumors only effected his defense?
  14. not the best amateur porn, but pretty good nonetheless. you missed out, raw.
  15. barring a collapse, i think marmol makes it. maybe at the expense of dempster.
  16. sutcliffe and berman sounded like they were high last night. sutcliffe (on pierre): i love this guy. berman (real softly/gently): i know you do. it was weird.
  17. He just lost a game 2 days ago. Why can't an article be written about it? He's been bad. Marquis has been bad, not so bad that it's indefensible for him to have a job pitching in the major leagues, but bad enough to justify writing articles about how bad he's been. It's a 162 game season that requires stories to be written for 9 months. Soriano's poor showing is deserving of an article. The tears, well, that's another issue. tough to say he "lost" the game. i mean, he did hit a 2-run homer that game too. and yeah, articles can be written about it, i suppose...they have to write about something. i just think his defensive problems have been overblown because of their timing.
  18. No kidding. It bugs me that the tipping point for this is him losing a ball in the sun, something that can happen to any fielder out there. The St. Louis game was rough, and he definitely gave up on the faux-HR in Pittsburgh...he also had that crappy outing when Wood had one of his blown saves against the Brewers. Nothing to brag about, obviously, but I'm just not seeing this defensive butcher that people seem to be worried about. You can start listing off a few really bad instances. It's not just the sun. But the sun game directly blew a win, and it followed another bad play. Soriano's been bad out there, no reason to gloss over it. but he hasn't been that bad. not so bad that articles need to be written about it or that wrigley23 needs to literally cry tears about it.
  19. also, besides losing one ball in the sun and having one bad game in st. louis, what exactly has soriano done so horribly defensively? he's not exactly graceful out there, but come on. people are acting like he's made 11 errors and the cubs are in fourth place because of it.
  20. disservice to their fans? that's a new one.
  21. Can we please stop acting like this team is good at stealing bases and clamoring that they do it more often? They can barely lay down a decent bunt. I think that's one thing we all agree on... being fast doesn't equal being good at stealing bases... but when the first baseman isn't holding you, and the pitcher isn't checking (and is basically giving you 2nd base) and you don't take it... that's different. And you're spotting this exact no-doubt situation over and over again? My guess is he's referring to last night. The fact that he didn't steal 2nd with Broxton on the mound, runners on the corners, and 1 out seems to indicate that he's not that close to 100%. and it came back to kill the cubs, costing them the season. so if people want a basestealer to bat leadoff, who do you want? because theriot sucks at stealing bases.
  22. you can just tell...
  23. hendry may be the cub i dislike the most.
