  1. why is that nice to see? That he's not buying into this deal making the Brewers the favorites. yeah, but who cares what he thinks? it's not like it helps the cubs or hurts the brewers. You're not wrong, but couldn't you have let this innocuous little comment go? no

  3. If Rothschild gets the blame for Hill, does he get the credit for Dempster? how are those two even related? and anyway, dempster has had periods of success before. but i don't care if you want to give rothschild some credit for him. go nuts. doesn't change how he apparently whiffed on hill.
  4. Your continued implication that none of this is Rich Hill's fault (and that big bad Lou Piniella and Larry Rothschild ruined poor Rich) is maddening. where did i say that none of this was hill's fault? clearly the problem snowballed and became mental when his mechanics got out of whack, and i'm sure a lot of that was hill's "fault." and i'm sorry i'm causing you so much mental distress. but if this whole ordeal doesn't make you question rothschild's competence, i don't know what to tell you. Was Rick Ankiel's meltdown Dave Duncan's fault? Is he incompetent too? no one was able to subsequently fix ankiel. Rich Hill is fixed? Wow. Talk about overreacting to a second-hand report from a rookie league game. he's certainly making vast improvments, which is more than he ever did under rothschild.
  5. it seems like hamels gets two starts every week... five in a row for the hand sanitizers!
  6. i 100% believe that she worked for the cubs. any issues i have with her posts have nothing to do with me doubting her story.

  8. and my critique of rothschild isn't so much for causing the problem, but more about his inability to fix it. i mean, i'm assuming he worked and worked and worked with hill from ST through may and couldn't figure out what was going on. he's been at mesa for two weeks and they apparently fixed some mechanical flaw that has immensely improved his control. you don't think that makes rothschild look a little bit like a fool? he's being paid millions to do stuff like fix broken pitchers. some guy probably making $30,000 did in two weeks what rothschild couldn't do in three months.

  10. Yes. She has explained as much in the past. people really don't know by now that she used to work for the cubs or something? it's at least hinted at in nearly all her posts.
  11. whoa...can i ask you to get started then...because i would be quite curious to the reasoning behind this... Sorry don't care to share and there are things that I cannot share. If you don't want to or can't say anything about it, then why hint at it in the first place? attention. she doesn't watch the cubs, doesn't like most of the cubs personally, and won't tell anyone why. yet she has 300+ posts here. i don't get it.
  12. yeah, it sucks about the new rule that says if the brewers make a trade, a win is subtracted from the cubs.
  13. this trade provides us the perfect opportunity to stop whining about/cutting and pasting ridiculous things posted by cardinal/white sox fans and double up our effort in doing the same for brewer fans.
  14. Wow. So the Cubs suck because they were actually relevant for 25 years while the Brewers stockpiled young talent? WHAT AN OUTRAGE I WILL BURN THAT BLOG TO THE GROUND.
  15. I was expecting a bunt. Chance to put the tying run in scoring position, having your choice of who to hit next with the pitcher's spot due up, and most importantly, LaRussa being the one making the decision? I was surprised when he hit away. down by two i didn't think there was any way he would be bunting. you'd need a hit in that situation, and by bunting you're saying that one of your next two hitters HAVE to get a hit...against wood.
  16. just watched the 9th inning of yesterday's game for the first time, and i think that if lee wasn't inexplicably playing for the bunt, kennedy's hit may have been a DP.
  17. you're like 0-3 on this page alone. take a deep breath and think about some things.
  18. if the cubs get hellickson for matty mcsingles, i'll poop my pants.
  19. turns out the only significance of taking 2/3 instead of 3/3 is that the cardinals' fall to 10+ games back is just postponed a few weeks.
  20. it doesn't really matter where he makes his next start...it should be wherever is most convenient weather/schedule wise. neither rookie league hitters nor AAA hitters can hit hill...it's just a matter of throwing strikes...it doesn't matter whether it's an 18 y/o or a 26 y/o standing in the box.
  21. my goodness, larry rothschild is terrible. unreal.
  22. no cubs on the final ballot thing... c lee burrell hart rowand d wright
  23. If you have Towles in this list, may as well put in Felix Pie as well. Unlike Hill, Willis, and Francouer who have had a few years of major league success, a lot of the others are basically prospects who werent ready yet. Butler was as good as Hill for pretty much the same amount of time. um...no. maybe not, but still he was pretty damn good for a 21 year old. damn, you gave up way too easy on that one. i really wanted to argue about this.
  24. did the cubs really think the cardinals were going to bunt in the 9th? could have cost them the game.
