I just don't see how anybody could realistically and reliably rank guys past the 20-25 range, and even that is a stretch. People are just going to be listing names. You may be better asking for a list of 30 from people and in your consensus see where guys at the back end stack up.

Given the fact that Jim Miller has been among the group of meatbally Cutler criticizers, I find this hire a bit interesting.

There are different levels of flawed though. He didn't even make that list on this site that went to 50, and the guys at the back end aren't going anywhere. He wasn't even getting voted on. He got some money, but that was from the previous management group during a period when they were just throwing money at people to make up for lost opportunities. If a guy can't crack a top 50 list for his organization, as a 21-year old after 2 years as a pro, then he's well off the radar of having a meaningful prospect status on him. It's a stretch to compare ignoring him to ignoring everybody past the top 3-5 actual prospects. To be fair, Theo Epstein drafted Rock Shoulders but couldn't sign him the year before the Cubs got him. Perhaps because they didn't think he was worth the $300k that Hendry/Wilken gave him.

Weird to hear a Cubs fan say they don't hate the Mets but I guess that's the norm now. I can't really think of a reason for a Cubs fan in his 20's to hate the Mets. Are we supposed to hate the Mets because of '69? My hatred of them has cooled considerably due to their incompetence and extremely consistent mediocrity of late. It was at its peak during the prime of my childhood, when they were really good for a long time and won a world series right after the Cubs got my hopes up and then fell apart. It was more of a jealousy thing, but that was the 80s. I never really cared about the 69 storyline, and since I've been out here the only thing the Mets have meant is an easy way to see the Cubs. My hatred is reserved for the Yankees out here due to the absurd level of entitlement and sanctimony surrounding everything that has to do with that franchise.

Ugh, no. The Knicks deserve nothing but misery, now and forever. The rejuvenation of the Yankees is bad enough, I could really use a Knicks/Rangers combo elimination soon. I genuinely can't remember the last time I rooted for a New York team to win at anything. I've wanted the Giants to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. And I've rooted for the Devils (obviously not a NY team) because I have easy access to tickets and they are like 15 minutes away from my house.

I do like what Emery is saying with regards to Carimi. Obviously it is his right and so Phil probably can't saying much negative about it. But I think it's the right thing to play the good cop here. The open arms commentary puts the onus on Carimi. His contract is guaranteed so there is zero to gain from cutting him, unless you believe in the bad apple theory. And I really don't think that what he has done to date qualifies as a guy who is going to have a negative affect on others. I think there is little chance his career will continue with the Bears, but they still need the depth and might as well keep him all year.
