I don't understand what's so hard to understand where I'm going. Our pitching outlook organizationally is not very good. There's no agenda. There's nowhere I'm "going with it." It's just an easily observable situation. Like I said, it's not insurmountable. They'll just have to do a good job focusing their resources on acquiring pitching from outside the organization for the next few years. Also, non-first-round draft picks don't really matter and certainly don't move the needle. Maybe a couple of them per draft will magically develop into something useful, but there's no good way to predict it. Well then your post was stupid and pointless because everybody knew their status prior to you providing your opinion on the matter. You are providing zero insight into the matter.

A soft-tossing righty and a future reliever with major control problems at A-. Well, now I'm sold. Never mind. Pitching isn't an organizational problem after all. It's not insurmountable, but it's going to take some good work. Whereas you could probably just derp your way to an average or better offense for the next decade. I really don't understand where you're going with all this. We spent a decade with management that didn't know how to draft and develop a single bat, and they weren't particularly good at acquiring other people's bats. These guys actually seem to have a decent grasp on putting together a solid crop of position players (which account for more than half of what happens on the baseball field), and they have been decent at acquiring other people's arms as well. It just looks like you're fretting for the sake of fretting about AA pitching as if it's the only thing that matters at this point. They've already taken three college pitchers in the first five rounds. What the hell are you going on about?

playoff heroes routinely sign bloated contracts when their playoff numbers outpace their typical regular season numbers. -
6'05" 235lbs DOB: 09/18/91 Skulina played a key role in Kent State’s Cinderella run to the 2012 College World Series and has taken on an even bigger role this spring as the Golden Flashes ace. He relies on his fastball-curveball combination to attack hitters and isn’t afraid to challenge them. Skulina’s fastball sits in the low-90s and runs in on right-handers. His curveball has good break and should be a Major League average offering. He uses his 6-foot-5, 235-pound frame to create a good downhill plane for both pitches. Skulina needs to develop his changeup to reach his potential.

Guys like these guys are the guys our FO is notorious for. And yeah, they might also be saving the overslots for later. I'd get worked up over "unknown" 1st rounders, but 3rd rounders? No.

Possibly and/or Bryant is going to take slot+ to sign. If Bryant costs overslot, I'd have went a different direction. If they thought he was the most talented player available, I wouldn't have. Agree, it would be nice if they could go under and save, but if not, as long as he's the best they could get, fine by me.

I'm probably just missing it, but I don't see what would be the point of taking an underslot in order to overslot later. Wouldn't you take the overslot first and then underslots after? Well, going under the bigger slotted spots at the top leaves more money for going overslot than going under the smaller slotted spots early.

So he was already 19 when he graduated high school? Was he held back? Is that a typical age for Utah high schoolers? Did he get to play against guys 1-2 years younger than him in high school?

So he's a freshman and 22 and has football. All sorts of signability issues with him. He's not an 18 year old who can go to school for a few years and vault up the board. And if he's fighting for a spot on the BYU football team at 22, he's not an NFL prospect.

Nobody cares what you do at home, away from the team, with your free time, etc. Nobody cares what religion you are. People get annoyed at blowhard religious people who treat the workplace as an opportunity to recruit.
