  1. Imagine if everyone actually got that channel. Imagine if the NHL wasn't riddled with strikes and lockouts and had any leverage at all to sign a TV deal Couldn't NBC justify just putting in on the main channel? I know it would be tough to bump another stirring round of "The Voice"... They want NBC Sports Network to succeed, so it doesn't make much sense to move stuff off that channel to the main network.
  2. Chris Kuc tweeting a bunch of Stones related questions being answered by the team.
  3. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/chicago-blackhawks-double-cubs-vs-white-sox-ratings-182245437.html big ratings for hockey
  4. I'm pretty sure somebody reported the Cubs weren't interested in Brown.

  6. Also inexcusable was how Oduya didn't know it was even strength and iced the puck. It was pretty hysterical though, that they actually caught him on camera saying, "It was 4 on 4?", and didn't just have to speculate that he was unaware.
  7. Not every batter is a threat, but they are using aluminum bats, and what is the comparison between college offense versus MLB offense? In the rah-rah environment of college sports, along with having scouts watch your every move, are these guys really just cruising along with nominal effort against their weaker opponents? You also have an issue where the coaching may not be as good in the "monitoring mechanical consistency" aspect of the game, and they have little-to-no interest in the long-term well-being of those pitchers. The context is different, but not necessarily better.
  8. The sentiment against the penalty call seems to be that Detroit has gotten away with so many illegal things all series long that it's not fair they actually got called on one of them.
  9. I'm not gonna lie, I really kinda like Babcock. From the interviews and PC's I've seen during this series, just strikes me as a pretty straightforward, no excuses type. I hate his stupid pinched face
  10. 0 hits in his last 22 AB. Ouch 6 in his last 13, back to 829
  11. I believe the one you are referring to there was no clear breakaway/path to the goalie. While in this case it was very clear.
  12. While he may be the top guy on a lot of lists he is not on all lists. On those lists where he is considered #2 (and most people have speculated the Cubs have him #2) that would leave a gap which he could theoretically close.
  13. I would not like the idea of putting all my eggs in two arm baskets, especially when, despite all the talk of a surplus of hitting and no pitching, the Cubs aren't exactly blessed with bats that are performing. You solve the pitching issue with supply. This management team has shown an ability to find and acquire decent arms. Your bullpen eventually gets solved with quantity, not high risk high reward arms.
  14. that sounds lovely, but hasn't all the suburban sprawl paved over most of the groves in Orange County?
  15. Yes. I heard it multiple times and I'm surprised they are allowing it.. Did they do different variations? I heard the one before the 9th and it was something like "so and so reviews Fast and Furious 6, Cubs zero". They always try to be overly clever with those Garry Meier promos though. That may have been it, I just know it was a promo that ended with the number six, and then a quick "Cubs zero" comment.
  16. you keep sticking to that theory. That theory that's like math and numbers and stuff? the theory that never stops having to be revised because it is an imperfect way to measure the results. I have very little doubt that this team is better than it's record, but it's stupid to pretend this team is good.
  17. The good thing is that wasn't really a sweep, just a variance sweep.
  18. Did I just hear a WGN radio promo that ended with something like, "coming up at 6 (Cubs zero)"?
  19. you keep sticking to that theory. I will. And the Cubs will keep being bad.
  20. Why? Most of these are established players. My concern is whether or not this coaching staff can develop the younger players. In a couple hundred games, what young players are getting better? Rizzo had really bad major league numbers before his exposure to this coaching staff. Travis Wood and Samardzija seem to have taken steps forward under their watch.
  21. Context? just wondering how you go 39 PA without a strikeout and then K 8 times out the next 13 I thought you were pissed that he shaved his beard.
