  1. that dude has a huge tail.
  2. I'm wondering if auto-correct got that because I have no clue otherwise. googling shoved and baseball leads to some interesting results that I do not think apply in this situation. edit: and I think one of those was actually a softball bat
  3. it always amazes me that guy can get around on skates
  4. Is that Frank Drebin behind the plate!? No, a bigger slapstick fool, CB Bucknor.
  5. Managers are basically never the reason a team wins. They can, however, quite easily be the reason lots of young pitchers get hurt. OR WHY A TEAM LOSES A [expletive] NLCS BECAUSE THE [expletive] MANAGER CHOSE TO FACE MIKE LOWELL INSTEAD OF LENNY [expletive] HARRIS That and letting Prior throw like 120 pitches or something after taking an 8 run lead in game 2. Ugh. and for the 20 games leading up to that outing

  7. Professional? These aren't accountants, they are talk show hosts whose job is to manufacture outrage. Spiegel looks like an idiot here.
  8. Actually, I have won three gold gloves. I believe that makes me a gold glover. Darwin Barney with his zero range is excellent though. Zero range?
  9. what do you mean throw out? One of the things in favor of the two "lesser" prospects is that there are two of them. If the better guy gets hurt, that underscores part of the value of having quantity. You can't ignore that part of the equation. I think he's referring to Tim's idea of figuring out if BA has gotten any better at picking out future successful Major Leaguers. Yes, this. I don't expect anyone to predict that Mark Prior will get flipped by Marcuse Giles and then have Brad Hawpe hit a liner off of his throwing elbow. You didn't have to predict the specifics once Dusty was hired.

  11. saw one at cedar point last year, this guy had a cheesy looking royal flush with the caption (verbatim): "its the cards your delt in life, its how you play the game" maybe he woke up every morning and wiped some snot after the first its. that would certainly live up to his motto
  12. you guys care about what douchebag radio hosts say about each other?
  13. Rain delayed things Got a few fereners atop the leaderboard after the late start. There's not much worse than ESPN's obnoxious melodramatic stories about today's players having conversations with now dead players.
  14. Chicago's radio PBP guys, or just random Chicago radio hosts? Or was it idiot callers?
  15. Callis had us an easy No. 1 overall in like 2002 or 2003. Wow Baseball America had cubs 2, 1, 3 in 2001, 2002, 2003.
  16. jersey, this might be a little out of your way, but there's an excellent blackhawks bar in bay ridge, brooklyn: http://www.yelp.com/biz/windy-city-ale-house-brooklyn i went there last night and it was packed with blackhawks fans. chicago style dogs and chicago beer on tap. highly recommended. thanks for the heads up, maybe I'll head that way for one of next week's games. Got a couple friends in the area.
  17. But that happened because his manager killed him, not because he wasn't actually that good or worthy of the ranking, like Patterson. A bust does not do what Prior did at the major league level.
  18. Except neither really was. I'm not going to argue semantics, but one's career was over at the age of 25, and the other one failed to get 600 plate appearances in a season after the age of 24. Considering how highly touted they were, I'd say that's pretty disappointing. And I place the majority of the blame on Dusty Baker for both players' career arcs. There's no semantics. Prior wasn't a bust. He was awesome, then he got hurt after already achieving what anybody could have hoped for a prospect.
  19. I went to a bar with Bruins fans and softball teammates for the first two periods but had to get home to relieve the babysitter. I had set up the DVR to do the full game + 1 hour, and then when it went into overtime, I deleted the game and restarted a new 2 hour manual record. I was afraid I'd fall asleep and miss the end. As an aside, the signal at the bar went skippy and actually went out a couple times, including on the 5-3. It was cable, not directv. My signal never went out at all at those times. Cablevision here absolutely blows. Everybody who has it has more disruption than my directv ever has.
  20. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18qpagdw63u5bjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg
  21. I'm sure not. Saturday night will be a sloppy night for sure though. thankfully Father's Day means sleeping in Sunday morning.
