    Hah, when searching Montador last night I saw something written months ago that stated these two were almost certain to be amnesty guys, but hadn't heard it anywhere else. I did think the talk of Hossa's buyout didn't hold up. That would be a large sum of money to pay a good player to go away, and while Rocky has been more open with the wallet he has also talked quite a bit about the lack of profits.

    Yeah, I don't think it has to do with which sport is better. It's about the simple fact that the Cubs suck right now, and the Hawks are great. it's not a question about which sport is better. The topic was specifically about the intensity and excitement of playoff hockey. baseball is much more about the 6 month regular season. NHL is all about the race for the stanley cup at the end. Regular season hockey is kind of ugo, especially early on and doesn't compare to its postseason.

    I don't see why Tunney should/would even be an obstacle if the mayor if supportive. Maybe, and maybe this is all just a tantrum Tunney's trying to throw to save face before the Cubs get their way. On the other hand though, the process has already missed multiple deadlines by months that are now pushing the project and its revenues full seasons further out than originally thought. At a certain point I'd have to think they'd be justified in going to Rahm and pointing out what a lunatic Tunney is being, and trying to work with him on an alternate city location, lest they take the Wrigley experience to one of the willing suburbs. Maybe Rahm tells them it's Wrigleyville or bust, but it'd be nice if even a fake rumor floated that possibility, if only for my own sanity. Well, there was the Tinley Park story, if that helps you.

    I think the buried has to do with his status of being injured and/or waived and placed in the minors. I think because of that his cap hit isn't as big as it would be if he was on the big squad. And the cap payroll is lower than the actual payroll because of the way they have structured contracts to spread out the cap hit. Marion Hossa has a $5.2m cap hit number but makes $7.9m. Keith makes about $2m more than his cap hit this year.

    I think it would be more impossible to find a new site within the city limits than it would be in the suburbs, and the suburbs aren't happening.

    So the consensus was that he could help a team this year? Sounds like it. He's 26. Doesn't sound like he's been in competitive regular competition for a while and would at least need some getting used to American culture, on top of some minor league innings.

    You don't have to, but the Cubs were very willing to overpay for access to these guys before the rules changed.

    All that forced, "they are really working hard out there" stuff with the coach who had his back to us, and the "don't blink, it will be over" lines were just as awkward as anything he says to the media.

    yeah, quite pointless. You knew it would be bad when they started off with a Dunkin Donuts joke and a "city of Boston is all about championship" statement for why they'd be disappointed with a loss in the final.

    Yes but Volstad is a totally different type of acquisition and an unusual one at that. He's just a guy they took from a team who was willing to take a guy they were hell bent on trading primarily because he was a head case Maybe in retrospect, but people had some hope for Volstad to be something more than he ended up being at the time. They could have just released Zambrano if they wanted him gone no matter the return.

    I think the tension in the air for any elimination game makes those baseball playoffs fairly riveting viewing. I could not care less about other teams playoff games though, and any non-elimination game just isn't intriguing. It doesn't help that they can last 3.5 hours just to see 9 innings.

    The reveal on that one was fantastic. I could watch this all night. What am I missing? The fact that the 2B had a cup of coffee between the time he caught the ball and threw it because Molina is super fast. That's a reveal?
