  1. .274/.338/.535 over 337 PA to start 2013. He stunk in his first stint in 2012.
  2. I'm generally not a fan of "let's make fun of harmless normal folks" bits. They are mean and dumb and made for mean and dumb people who need to see others fail in order to make themselves feel better about their mean dumbasses. Also, leading the witness with "from the Oakland deal" or "from the Garza deal' is a dumb trick that is going to create more "oh that was his name" assumptions by the interviewee than simply just throwing out a name.
  3. It may have something to do with the vague wording.
  4. I was trying to make a similar point but unable to come up with a sentence that makes sense. The promotion was more about getting him out of the FSL than rewarding his success. I'd expect him to spend a lot of time in AA before the next move.
  5. reiterates why I liked Ramirez so much. Consistently good hitter routinely under appreciated by the masses and media.
  6. wrong He's currently on pace for a very similar season as he had his rookie year.
  7. yep, probably same for most.
  8. The Cubs are 41-57, on pace for another 90-loss season.
  9. I was talking to a woman on a dating site who was on the low end of my 1/2age+7 rule and she wasn't even born when Seinfeld season 2 was running. That's when I noped out of dating sites. that's a weird decision to make
  10. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 50m #Bears report to training camp at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais for the 13th summer today.
  11. Right, but THEY SHOW UP TODAY!!!!
  12. Yeah, but the start of camp usually seems more exciting just because football, especially with another dreadful Cubs season. Maybe that's just a made up memory though.
  13. well training camp starts. Not sure why the excitement seems so low.
  14. Isn't that spot likely available for Fujikawa coming off the 60 Day DL? He's rehabbing in AAA right now.
  15. The last thing the front office should want to do is give off some sort of "Baez is our savior" vibe. He's already going to be putting that sort of pressure on himself because of who he is. If anything they'll want to lower expectations for fans. Which is just another reason he may not come up until late next spring. But man if he comes up soon... So exciting! They aren't doing that. They are just giving little cookies to fans (even though Theo said he doesn't do this) by kinda hinting/bringing up his name. That's not saying "Baez is our savior" or like "hint hint, hey guys maybe Baez is coming soon". Why the hell do you think Len would not talk about Baez if not for a hint or nod from the FO?
  16. What? No it doesn't. It looks like they might start trying a little and the results might start getting better next year, but nothing indicates they are really going for it.
  17. How does he figure? The only way Cutler could even begin to own Chicago is if he brought a SB back to the city, in which case many fans would play the "won in spite of him" card while others would continue to obsess over what they perceive to be deficiencies... personality, on-field, or otherwise (see: Manning, Eli). I really don't think you will see much of a "won in spite of him" crowd if they win one with Jay. Especially since the only chance they have to win one is if he has an amazing season.
  18. Baez could pretty easily struggle for 500 PAs to fully adjust to MLB pitchers. It could take 1000 for all we know, if 'caring' about winning in 2015 is the top priority, Baez should be the one traded considering his floor and the other options. Sacrificing a year of team control for the difference in "Javy MLB PA 201-700" and "Javy MLB PA 1-500" is a really, really bad idea. What in his adjustment phase at every single level leads yo to believe it will take 500 or 1,000 PAs to adjust? If getting the adjustment out of the way now leads to him hitting well right off the bat next spring so we don't start out losing 2 out of every 3 games like the start of this year and stay in contention because of it, yeah, it's completely worth it. Well, it took longer at AAA than AA didn't it? And the majors is the biggest jump of them all with pitchers most likely to exploit his weaknesses.
  19. That's why so many of us have hated the plan.
  20. I'm not saying it's definitely happening. It's just a small dot in a picture that was already starting to come into focus. The big dot was the position switch. How is the position switch a big deal or sign of anything imminent? It was always going to happen and becoming comfortable with a new position takes time.
  21. What the hell does this even mean? That's more than you get from just about anybody else. In fact, on the list of Chicago athletes whose personalities I'm most familiar with, I'm pretty sure Jay is #1. Unless you count Rose's complete lack of personality.
