  1. One hesitation and Bonifacio beats it out... nothing wrong with that play. The problem in the inning was our best hitting striking out with the bases loaded. It is much dumber to rely on a mistake by an opposing major leaguer in order to have success than having a good hitter not make an out.
  2. Tommy Birch ‏@TommyBirch 10m I-#Cubs manager Marty Pevey said INF Lars Anderson has been sent to AA and OF Manny Ramirez has been placed on the disabled list. #MiLB
  3. The gnashing of teeth and rending of garments is in response to all the 90 loss seasons. Cespedes is just another brick in the wall, but that doesn't mean fans who actually care about results of the major league team are not allowed to wish they signed him. Or does it?
  4. conte on active PUP, not available. Kyle Long unavailable at start of camp due to virus (twitter followers should know) slauson fully cleared, mills same, Steltz tentatively ready to go on Friday
  5. http://www.csnchicago.com/page/livebears streaming press conference
  6. Quietly long overdue. As opposed to Hannemann getting bumped up to Daytona. That one was overdue on an age basis.
  7. Zach Zaidman ‏@ZachZaidman 28s First #Bears player to report to Bourbonnais today: Roberto Garza. The veteran center checked in first thing in the morning.
  8. not much use in a list of tradable NFL players
  9. I'm guessing that was about how, if they had Cespedes, Jackson is less likely to be called up and be exposed and would still have the reputation of a pretty good prospect doing fine at AAA, thus, a tradeable commodity.
  10. Didn't have to be a building block to justify signing him; given the Cubs' needs and the money not spent a solid OF worth his contract would have been a nice pick up. It just seems a bit much to dismiss him as "meh" when the Cubs could have and should have walked away with both him and Soler, especially since such moves would have been more in line with the rhetoric they were spouting at the time. sure, he was really cool in 2012 but who knows, he could very well have meant the difference between having Kris Bryant and Colin Moran right now i'm over Cespedes That doesn't show much faith in this front office to be any good at drafting. He could also be the difference between having Scheirholtz and Cespedes right now.

Especially considering the difference it would make from the type of guys who are playing in the OF for the Cubs. That is a maker of difference.
  12. .274/.338/.535 over 337 PA to start 2013. He stunk in his first stint in 2012.
  13. I'm generally not a fan of "let's make fun of harmless normal folks" bits. They are mean and dumb and made for mean and dumb people who need to see others fail in order to make themselves feel better about their mean dumbasses. Also, leading the witness with "from the Oakland deal" or "from the Garza deal' is a dumb trick that is going to create more "oh that was his name" assumptions by the interviewee than simply just throwing out a name.
  14. It may have something to do with the vague wording.
  15. I was trying to make a similar point but unable to come up with a sentence that makes sense. The promotion was more about getting him out of the FSL than rewarding his success. I'd expect him to spend a lot of time in AA before the next move.
  16. reiterates why I liked Ramirez so much. Consistently good hitter routinely under appreciated by the masses and media.
  17. wrong He's currently on pace for a very similar season as he had his rookie year.
  18. yep, probably same for most.
  19. The Cubs are 41-57, on pace for another 90-loss season.
  20. I was talking to a woman on a dating site who was on the low end of my 1/2age+7 rule and she wasn't even born when Seinfeld season 2 was running. That's when I noped out of dating sites. that's a weird decision to make
  21. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 50m #Bears report to training camp at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais for the 13th summer today.
