    i don't where this idea comes from. his line in daytona last year was .281/.343/.467/.810. it's fine for a 21 year old in a pitcher's league, but he hit 8 home runs in 55 games. it's not like he's been annihilating each level like bryant has done. I don't know about rape, but what sets Soler apart is the peripherals (as many have said). He has massive power yet doesn't strike out all that much and he walks at a good clip. The main thing is the contact ability combined with the power, though. I took weis21's statement of how Soler is treating minor league pitching as referring to this year only. I took it to be pretty disgustingly stupid.

    I wasn't paying attention but saw the replay and looked like he was stumbling while pitching. He was doing it on every pitch. Yeah, Walden Pitching Motion is a google auto-fill and it is a weird one. Don't see it as much of an illegal advantage though. Just stupid.

    Yep, follow the Detroit model. Sharp most definitely will be gone after the upcoming season. Hasn't the Detroit model in the hard cap era been to get worse every year?

    I hated Jeff Blauser for that contract. Was it Ed Lynch that signed him? A 30-something middle infielder coming off a career year and they quoted his numbers at Wrigley in his career, ignoring that he was playing a crappy Cubs team in those games, and they were meaningless.

    No, I was scared to death of his hiring but more or less indifferent toward his tenure.

    Nailed it Meh. I hated Dusty, but I'm over it. He won 6 playoff games with the Cubs--more than the rest of the managers since 1945 COMBINED. And, let's be honest, Wood and Prior probably get hurt with or without his pushing, especially Wood who was hurt before and hurt after. Besides facing Mike Lowell over Lenny Harris, not visiting Prior on the mound, and forcing LaTroy Hawkins to close (which was a Hendry failure as much as Dusty), he really wasn't that bad. ABSURD Dusty never won a game. Hendry put together a pretty good ballclub and handed the keys to the worst possible manager. It was a disaster that was bound to happen.
