  1. I just figured it was something they could do quickly (relatively speaking) since it wouldn't be impeded at all by the baseball season, but I could see how having all that construction going on around it after it's open wouldn't be ideal for business. Plus PTR But building new structures is never something that happens on schedule, especially in cities like Chicago.
  2. Meant to say "chunks" but point still stands. so much better as junks
  3. Bruce Miles ‏@BruceMiles2112 2m Look today for Barney to be reinstated, Rosscup recalled and Hendricks and Parker being optioned to Iowa. #Cubs
  4. Rizzo with lots of love in northern NJ, but WTF fellow Hudson Countiers?
  5. Kinda crazy that the first part to be rebuilt is the part that was actually already rebuilt like 8 years ago, but also makes complete sense since that's where the big stuff is happening with the signs/lights. Is there a map showing where all these lots (brown, purple, gold, red)?
  6. I don't think he did that, he just pointed out they may not be in that discussion in a couple years.
  7. I don't think many organizations are going to be embarrassed about how they stack up against the Cubs at the end of this season.
  8. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-insider/2014/07/cubs-prospects-qa-with-baseball-prospectus-jason-parks-cubs-could-field-baseball-porn/ That just seems like the kind of analysis you hear from Joe Buck and Joe Morgan. "If all their best prospects graduate and they don't have new awesome prospects by then, they won't have as many awesome prospects." I guess you could look at it that way but he seems to be suggesting that all the depth is clustered in soon to be graduated players, which in turn means their depth isn't as deep as other teams' depth.
  9. I think he's got a shot at becoming a long term rotation option at least. All I'm really hoping for is for one of him or Wada to look good enough that we feel we're 4 deep heading into the offseason. He's probably better than Niese
  10. Nah, I just don't wanna get into it. It's the same reason Kyle got scared off MR and didn't finish his argument. You can write 2 page long winded arguments, but you're not going to change another fan base's opinion. Especially a fan as dumb as you seem to me. It's pointless. I'll leave on this note though. You guys seem to like Hammel here, so even if you think Niese is as good. I am pretty sure you would want Hammel if he was 27 years old, a lefty, and was under team control for the next 5 years for extremely cheap (8 mil a year...compared to guys like Arroyo and Nolasco who are making 10-13 mil). Sounds pretty appealing to me. I know Mets fans. I work with Mets fans. Mets fans are friends of mine. You sir, are very typical of every blowhard Mets fan I've ever heard speak about baseball.
  11. I'll be joining in with the "meatballs" That's not even meatbally at all. He should be on the major league team.
  12. was it really wrong? It was closer than I thought on replay. The complicating thing is that he was so far up the baseline, which is mostly in his control because he was already camped there and not ranging to get a bad throw. That also means that even standing on the line pretty much leaves you no clear lane to the plate because you have to loop around the guy just to get to the circle. But the runner was coming from way outside the basepath anyway as he rounded third. He had a clear lane but chose to stay out to avoid the tag. I don't understand the rule entirely but on the surface it didn't seem to be some egregious mistake.
  13. Pirates? I honestly have nothing against them at all. Pirates fans are Steelers fans so F them.
  14. I assume the rule allows for standing flush with the baseline, since beyond the baseline is a clear path to the plate.
  15. Baseball players can't fight. (also Rizzo's face is too tiny for even a boxer to connect with)
  16. Mets fan should be more aware of Generation K scenario. Talented pitching prospects are nice and all, but a farm system based on pitching prospects is destined to disappoint.
  17. How so? Niese is two years younger and their numbers are not that far off. 2014: Shark: 2.3 bWAR, 3.02 FIP, 141 ERA+ Niese: 1.7 bWAR, 3.62 FIP, 118 ERA+ See, you just compared them, they are comparable.
  18. Samardzija is more of a longterm lease than a rental.
