What's the benefit of waiting until the final hour? Less time for other teams to counter with additional moves? Huh? Teams that are selling are waiting for best and final offers to drive up the return, while teams that are buying are hoping the seller will get desperate. The tweet says the trades are done and that the wait is only in announcing them. Every year there are trades that are done but not announced until final hour. He's not referencing one specific trade, just the common practice of last minute deluge of trades.

Padres have more pieces and more suitors. They have contenders and non-contenders alike knocking on the door. Can't blame them for taking it too the wire. If the Twins and Cubs don't do anything I'll be shocked. The White Sox are the team that should stand pat. Too close to sell, too far to buy. Didn't the White Sox make a minor move yesterday? They were rumored to be in on a bat.

tell that to the royals The Royals ran into a collapsing Oakland team and got a home game in that Wild Card. The Cubs are all but guaranteed to get a good Pittsburgh team in Pittsburgh. If they win that? St. Louis. Yeah, totally different from the 88 win Giants winning at Pittsburgh then taking care of the 96 win Nationals in 4 games, then the Cardinals in 5 games. But the Nats and Cards were also collapsing
