  1. went to the mets/yanks game last night I didn't realize that after the whole usage issue blew up, Harvey didn't pitch for 12 days. Supposed MVP candidate Cespedes also had an 0-17 streak and has a 200 OPS the past week. I really hope the Cubs face them in the NLCS.

  3. A desperate for a win good team going against a terrible team, at home. 14 point spread
  4. If there is consideration for skipping a start, I think it makes sense to do it here and then let him pitch that last weekend so he actually goes into the WC game with normal rest, and not too much rest.
  5. They are the most obnoxious football fans on the planet, except for the tiny, tiny handful that actually went to school there. I'm not sure what the Yankee equivalent of it is. Ohio State fan? Notre Dame? NYC is a like a melting pot of college football fans with no dominant school in the area. I only know a few OSU fans but they all went there. PSU has a few non-attendee fans, but Notre Dame is still the biggest example of that.
  6. I was rubbin' some ribs and had to hop out of the kitchen and rewind to watch again. We have a friend who is an Alabama fan and I turned down an invite to watch the game with them because I told her I felt it would be rude of me to openly root against Bama and laugh at anything bad that happens while in her home. She was incredulous that anybody would root against Alabama.
  7. No. I will not agree to disagree. Criticizing fans who are critical of the Bears is ridiculous.
  8. Do they have reservations about sending Arrieta out against the Pirates twice leading up to the likely wild card matchup?
  9. Sorry, but it's really stupid to criticize fans for criticizing a poorly run organization that is playing poorly. You sound ridiculous. NFL teams that suck don't suck because they are doing it on purpose for some grand scheme. They suck because they suck.
  10. They can't coach up scrubs and this defense is nothing but scrubs. I tend to agree, but there are a ton of young players on this defense, so I'm hoping they can find at least 2-3 pieces that can be on the team going forward. If those guys emerge and the rest get more comfortable with the scheme, they can probably not give up 30 points every game, especially when they are facing offenses that aren't GB or Arizona. Can one of those guys be a fixed Kyle Fuller, please? I just don't think he's very good. I'm not sure fixing is a thing that can be done. (amateur X/O talk warning) The switch out of the cover 2 requires your corners to be better in coverage and does not help Fuller at all.
  11. I take back anything bad I blurted out about sending Rizzo there.
  12. And those people deserve to be called out. There are a strong contingent here that was consistent in their acceptance of a rebuilding and didn't rant about how the Cubs were the worst run organization in sports (like one Bears caller suggested this morning) because Chris Rusin had a bad start 2 weeks into the 2012 season. Nobody who is criticizing the Bears deserves to be called out. They've been a disaster and their current regime is nothing resembling Theo Epstein. Ryan Pace has done nothing in his career and John Fox is as bland a head coach as you'll get. Competent, but nothing resembling a star. The organization is very poorly run.
  13. Maybe I should bite my tongue then because I couldn't watch the game, was able to check the score every so often when my cell phone had reception. The score looked bad but I knew the defense was really bad going in and when I saw Cutler go down (along with Jeffery going out) I just assumed it was going to be an ugly blowout so I didn't get any angst that you would get from actually watching your favorite team get destroyed. Also, I do disagree with the 'different people calling in' thing. There are like a pool of 100 people that call into sports talk shows, these are definitely the same guys I heard all throughout training camp and preseason. Even if they are the same people (they probably aren't), you are probably interpreting their statements wrong but there is also nothing wrong with having those sentiments. You can know a team is going to suck and it's going to be a rebuilding year and still get upset watching a shitty team. It's ridiculous to attempt to call people out for having those feelings.
  14. The way you phrase that suggests people are wrong to be upset. It's stupid to be accepting of a rebuilding season and then go all cubbievirus after 2 weeks when the Bears couldn't beat 2 of the best teams in football, one a close game and the other without their starting QB for half the game. If you are ok with a rebuilding year, understand that they are going to be terrible at times and expect/hope that they improve over 17 weeks. Maybe you should consider the idea that those people you heard from in preseason that were all accepting of a rebuild season are not necessarily the same people who are upset about how bad the team looks. Generally speaking, it's stupid to criticize fans for being upset with a bad team. Very few people just accept horribleness.

  17. I feel like it was precommenced Just bad before. Now, if Cutler is out for an extended period of time, it has a chance to be epically bad. I feel like 12 losses was on the table all along
  18. Thom wondering if Bears will run 2-minute offense with 2 minutes remaining in half.
  19. I feel like it was precommenced
  20. The first week after they acquire a talented defensive player.
  21. That was not interference
  22. Drafting McClellin Fuller hasn't looked good since like week 4 last year, but I don't recall anyone questioning that pick even a little at the time That's a horrible way to judge a gm, whether or not people liked a pick at the time. Also, it was not derided but was considered safe and boring as they took an unathletic but competent corner who was nfl ready but likely to never be a pro bowler. It's a bad pick.
  23. Announcer not sure the defender got cutlers face mask.?
