  1. Anyways, I really don't mind the hints that we might not be players for the major free agents. This team needs pitching depth, preferably young. Trades and mid-tier signings are probably for the best. Trades, mid-tier signing, and star for good measure. They need to be 100 game winners from now on.
  2. I know this isn't the positivity thread but what the hell are you people doing? It's almost festivus.
  3. David is a robot is a meme. Kyle is negative is a reputation that's been earned. But he isn't nearly as consistently negative as people seem to generally believe. i.e. going into all those putrid 2012-2015 seasons, i am pretty sure he was one of the most bullish posters Putrid 2015 season? Kyle is generally wrong, and now you are a robot trying to be more human to be wrong as well?
  4. It's nice to be incorporated but it's incorporate to be nice.
  5. Good thing the NFL is a keeper league!!! [tweet]https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/648921537509203968[/tweet]

  7. concur I wouldn't trade him for "whatever they can get". I'm thinking something like a 4th and 6th would be his ceiling in a trade. Maybe you could get a 3rd if that team re-signs him like right away. I also wonder what the next contract Forte gets will be. He's a good RB, but I don't think he's elite. He won't get DeMarco Murray money (5/$40M), but should get much more than Gore (3/$12M). If the Bears don't go crazy with a big FA signing, he could get the Bears a 3rd or 4th round comp pick. Of course, if they lose Jeffery, they could get a slew of picks, but those picks wouldn't be until 2017. I'd probably take the picks now, if they could get them. good point, I concur on trading him now, not if all they get is another 6 (but one more 6 will allow them to move up into the 5th!)
  8. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/07/15/three-years-of-pass-blocking-efficiency-running-backs/ This would seem to indicate that he gives up the second most pressure but also stays in to block the second most frequently in the league. He didn't stand out on blitz protection and so I think the overall story is that he's just okay at best in this department.
  9. Um, this specific news actually makes it sounds like they won't be able to afford anybody good. Not everybody good.
  10. Seeing as the team is owned by the Family, they should really be slotted in at 14 no? The Wirtz family dynasty and Ricketts family both have a tremendously large amount of cash not accounted for here.
  11. make sure you wait until 0:54 mark
  12. Hendricks has been pretty good for 5 innings but struggles when he reaches 75 pitches / 6th innings. Hammel has had a tendency to suck in the first inning, but when he's good, he tends stay good longer. I don't know if these stats can really tell you anything about future performance, but I would think you'd want to go with Hendricks and have a quick hook for somebody like Wood coming in by the end of 5 or beginning of 6 at the latest.
  13. theory: 0-0 extras are rare, although they may have been more common in the dead ball era. 0-0 extras that end in HR would therefore be even more rare. The only people that could hit HR during the dead ball era were starter caliber players, and good players didn't get rest days to come in late and pinch hit.
  14. Need more 6th rounders to eventually move the 5 into the 4th!!!
  15. sounds like a 6th rounder
  16. That game was like men playing with boys. *Diego, not Jose
  17. at the game saturday I was mildly surprised to see a Sammy-centric video on the jumbotron. Also, the jumbotrons were not at all intrusive and definitely fit into the environment. #my2cents #4monthslate
  18. Nick Vlahos is not allowed to celebrate if this team does good things. I forgot about that clown. He was trolling around with some stupidity not all that long ago. He's not being as gracious about having the old tweets brought up as Chet. He's based out of Peoria, so was he one of those, "the mean old Cubs are going to regret bailing on the Peoria Chiefs" guys?
  19. why do you think he touches the same spot?
  20. But they needed MLB's hand holding to get it done: [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. DJ Gallo was tweeting excessively about Arrieta's journey to becoming a god in Chicago from a bum in Baltimore. Pretty good woe is me pittsburghishness
